pokemon au. based on his birth place -- shizuoka prefecture -- and comparing it to where the regions on the map relate to real world japan, i’m going to say it’s very likely that tokoyami is a trainer in the johto region! he specializes in dark types, and hopes to open a gym. 

however, there’s a couple of physical differences in his appearance, depicted underneath the cut.
