Final artefact mockups! Crazy to think how far I have come and how many challenges I had to overcome throughout this journey of creating this calendar journal. It was really hard but I constantly felt supported by my peers and teachers. I feel really proud of this calendar and the process that I went though to make it. I felt like I really poured my heart into this semester and I couldn’t be more proud of the outcome.
I am happy to finally have one to hold and look at after weeks of prototyping and making and testing and sampling.
It’s FINISHED!

Final Exegsis and calendar bound and foiled.
I am so happy with the final outcome and glad that I pushed through to foil the exegsis cover  (despite not being in the mood and not wanting to because I was properly over it all). PDQ print was able to print the pages and bind the cover on both documents and I couldn’t be more happy with the result

Process Photos from yesterday test foiling. I was able to work with Fleur and I am so happy with the results. I added a quote on the flap panel as a gentle reminder for the mother. I am really happy with how the foil elevates the look and feel of the book without being too “glittery and sparkly”
I tested on my paper to see how the foiling would sit on the paper with the paper sample I got from PDQ print.

More foiling in the bindery, creating the gold details throughout the book. It too a while for me to find the rthynm of the foiling machine but once I got it all lined up I was able to smash it out and I am really happy with the results. The gold really lifed the designs and make the pages feel alot more lux

Quotes I like to potentially gold foil on the inside cover. I was talking to my mum and she helped me find a few quotes that would fit the look and feel of my book.
I really like the last quote but It doesn’t really apply to mother of boys and I think it would need a third line so I need to have a think

I FINALLY HAVE A STANDING BOOK CALENDAR PROTYPE!!!!
I was able to get it bound at the top edge and bind the pages into the cover.
PDQ print wanted me to make the cover half the thickness and this is something that I didn’t want to do as it compromised on the weight, durability and quality of the calendar so I am so glad that I stuck to my guns and was able to create something that is exactly as I wanted it

More process photos from last Friday where I was adjusting a panel to be thin enough to fit into the binding machine. I ended up having to make 10mm of the back panel half the thickness and 20mm of the front panel half the thickness so that it will slot into the machine
PDQ print was epic at helping and teaching me about the process of binding it

Some of the many pages of notes and drawings and measurements that went in to the trial and error of my calendar. Fleur was an amazing help and I really couldn’t of done it without her.
Time to make my final

PDQ print was unsucessful but at least I was able to find a white wiro ( which has also been very difficult) I’m feeling a bit defeated at this point and getting a bit stressed about time frames but I will go into the bindery on Friday and hopefully be able to make a successful mockup and feel good about it all again

Smashed out a third and fourth prototype for my book mock up with some difficulty. I also rang about 15 different places to see if they would be able to help me bind my stuff and no one could. David at PQD print was amazing and Fleur was able to put me in contact with him so I will be trying another tactic for technique 5

Some Examples of the analouge illustrations that I have been creating for my calendar pages. Playing on the idea of growing and how every flower grows differently so you can’t compare your idea of growth to someone elses

I finally got a response from New Zealand MidWives. I have already found someone who might be able to help me out more especially since I am running out of time to find a text book and research it further.
