ASHER & KADE WINSTON:
His green hues flare at her comment about selling her something, Asher refuses to let any of this touch her despite the fact she has probably been through more than he can imagine. “Not funny,” he breathlessly whispers as his eyes lift up to look somewhere other than her face for a few moments as his hand rests on her lower back, pulling her a little closer to him. He sways to the beat of the music as he lets himself fume in her comment, knowing he even go to the extent of breaking the fingers of any dealer who tries to sell her a baggie. Their history does not need to be repeated and even though he deals with the same thing their mothers couldn’t let go of for them, the white powder isn’t something that needs to touch them. “Deal,” he says as his lips slightly curl into a smile as his gaze drops back down towards her. “I’m sorry I have to work tonight, it’s not the date you deserve and I’ll make it up to you.”
FEW HOURS LATER
Asher follows one of his customers into the bathroom. He shoves his hand into the pocket of his jacket when the male begins to let out loose threats about giving him all of the packets he has in his pockets. “You want to try to rob me? You can’t be that stupid, Tony.” After he speaks, Tony pulls out a knife and inches closer to the Winston male, his tongue brushing along his lips as a low chuckle left his lips. “Tony, man…” Before he could do more, the lights flickers and suddenly the power goes out. He reaches to his back, grabbing the handle of his gun but the door pushes open and exposes the brunette. Tony grabs her by her hair and wraps his arm around her, putting the knife against her neck and in those few seconds Asher has his gun out with the safety off and his finger on the trigger. “Don’t be fucking stupid, Tony.” He mutters as the man begins to tell Asher he needs to give him all of the drugs or he takes her out. “I’ll pull the trigger before you can even blink,” he has no hesitation behind his voice and he’s sure Maddison is fully aware that he would do it. The door creaks open and his eyes don’t leave Maddison despite the calm voice that fills the bathroom — Kade. @kadewinstcn
Tumblr media
There’s very little that can draw him from his own drunken haze. The considerable amount of alcohol that had long since surpassed an ebbing warmth had left him slipping through the hours of the night with a certain ease that Kade very rarely ever felt. A reckless nature very rarely, if ever, stemmed from nothing and the reminder of all of that, lit up and celebrated under the guise of another great year gone has him nursing another double in his hands. It’s within a few passing moments that he looks up, beyond the amber glimmer of his glass, to see Asher following a man that he knows all too well, into the bathroom. It’s a wonder he hadn’t realized it before, and the swimming sensation within his skull begins to slow as pieces of everything he knows, fit together. His circles run wide, all those he knew from the streets of chicago well before anyone should have joined the depths of them, those he stood behind bars with - and now those that he sold weapons to on, and off the grid. There are many faces he remembers, even more than he wishes he didn’t - but Tony had always pushed the trope of unstable to a level that even Kade had yet to sink to. Finishing off the drink in his hand, he drops it back to the round wooden barrel that serves as a cocktail table when he sees something that sets something off inside his head. Maddison. propping open the door for but a fleeting moment before her smaller frame is yanked forward until she disappears beyond it.
Tumblr media
He staggers forward, somewhere between dazed and determined as he pushes aside a few other partygoers that happen to step in his way, “Fuck off,” He states to another as they’re reaching for the bathroom door. The lowly growl in the cavern of his chest eats the unease in a single mouthful and as those around him mutter about the lights and the ethereal darkness that swallows everyone up, Kade pushes gently on the door until his eyes adjust and he’s stood in the room with them. “Am I interrupting something?” It’s cold, completely disassociated from the anger that burns within him - it’s all he’s ever been fueled by. Anger and guilt, and here in the dark, with his brother aiming down the sights of a gun, and a knife to Maddy’s throat, they collide and he can’t seem to tear his gaze from Asher. “Tony?” The faux realization falls with the curve of his own intoxication as he steps forward, a slight stagger in his step as if he were about to greet an old friend, “Tony! You’re missin’ out on the party favors my friend,” a lazy smile follows, languid and easy, because he’s worn it for so long, but it’s enough to convince as Tony’s arm loosens from Maddy just enough to gesture wildly to Asher, “Once he hands it all over, m’not missing out on shit..” Even with more alcohol than blood in his system, Kade sobers up almost immediately, the rush he feels as his elbow hammers down against the man’s temple and no doubt sends stars scintillating across his vision, is more than enough to spur him forward. A hand reaches for the blade - the edge slicing into his palm as Kade grabs Tony’s arm, drawing it away from Maddy and jamming the weapon deep, between two of his ribs. “That’s my fucking brother.” As if it’s not enough, the gun held beneath his jacket is drawn, muzzle pressed against the mans temple, even as blood oozes out through the wound, “Should have gone with the party favors..” He pulls the trigger, the sound drowned out almost instantly by the cheers of the crowd beyond, erupting as the lights flicker back to life, and Tony hits the floor with a deft thump. @maddisoncampbell
Tumblr media
...
Drink in hand, Maddison had lost track of how many times she had circled the various art installations as she awaited Asher’s return. Time seemed to pass at an excruciatingly slow rate when attending an event that one had no particular interest in attending to begin with. And as the minuets continued to steadily tick by, so too did her patience begin to dwindle and as green hues finally locate a familiar figure following another into the bathroom. And after internally debating taking her leave and returning to the quaint motel room she calls home or following to give the other a piece of her mind, she settles upon the latter. The walk to the bathroom is a short one and she cares little to take note of whom might be watching as she pulls back hard on the door, just as the lights flicker out and she’s left staring into a dark chasm before cautiously stepping inside. However, before her vision is even able to adjust to darkness she finds herself being yanked backwards by her hair. Flailing some she reaches to grabble with the hand in her hair, only to fell the sharp bite of a blade suddenly being pressed into the flesh of her neck. Maddison freezes, fingers uncurling from the other as she raises her hands in mock surrender. Fuck. Only then does she see him. Asher. Green hues ablaze with something unreadable amidst the darkened room. “Do it --- take the shot.” She muses, only her words seem to provoke the crazed male and she winces as he increases the pressure upon her neck. It’s enough to just break open the skin. Biting down on the inside of her cheek to prevent the flicker of pain from dancing across her features, she raises a hand to her hip, in search of the butterfly knife usually tucked away in the front pocket of her jeans. But alas, with limited places to conceal the weapon she had left it behind against her better judgement. A decision she was instantaneously left regretting.
Tumblr media
The feeling of weakness that shadows the action of being incapacitated is not one that Maddison is familiar with and it leaves her frustrated furthermore not only with the situation at hand, but with her own inability to take control of it. Tommy taught her better than that and she knows it; craning her neck some, the brunette leans into the sting of the blade in an effort to grant the other a clear shot. Only it’s never taken, instead another steps into the room and she can’t help the exacerbated sigh that parts her lips as she struggles against Tony’s grip. Her gaze narrows some as recognition resonates between the drunken asshole the man that she can only assume is a desperate addict. Of course they knew one another. “Go on Winston, do what you do best and make a shitty situation worse.” Maddy spits out toward the older Winston, before he steps forward and to her surprise lands a sickening blow against Tony’s temple. While it doesn’t shake the blade from her neck it’s enough to loosen his grip, offering a window and she takes it, raising her foot before slamming back hard with all her strength as the base of her heel connects with his knee before she’s lurching forward and away from the two males. Only when her back connected with the cold bathroom stall did she expel the breath she had subconsciously been holding, fingertips lifting to press against the small laceration at the base of her throat. “You should have taken the shot.” She muses quietly, just as lights abruptly flicker back to life over head, emerald hues simultaneously meeting Asher’s before jerking toward the door and the sounds of chaos beyond. Only then does she hear it, what should be the cacophony of an overjoyed crowd reigning in the new year sounds much more like screams for help. @ashcrwinston

ASHER WINSTON:
Asher kept his blue hues on the woman sitting next to him as if he was trying to read the thoughts on her mind. Since Christmas it felt like he was doing that a lot, just wondering what it was like to live inside of her head. The both of them definitely had their fair share of stuff that they hadn’t shared and it wasn’t about keeping secrets but it was mostly because the topics hadn’t come up yet. He knew her mood was mostly because she didn’t want to him to end up behind bars because of what he was doing but truthfully he wasn’t climbing up or down the ladder would be better. He reached over, brushing his thumb across her cheek as he tilted his head a little. “It’s goin’ to be okay,” he said as he pulled his hand away, setting it on the bar. He adjusted himself on the bar stool, watching her as she slipped off to face him. “Yeah, a dance sounds good.” He hopped off the stool as a soft smile came along his features. He reached out and took her hand, looking over at her. “If you want to rip me a new one… You’re free to.” He muttered. “Might make you feel better.”
Tumblr media
...
It’s goin’ to be okay. Maddison can’t remember a time where she didn’t long to hear those words. As a child all she wanted after another one of her mother’s drunken drug induced episodes was to here that it was all going to be okay, and in the middle of drug bust gone wrong within the heart of Culiacán and perhaps even now in the midst of risking it all to stay within her the confines hometown. Nevertheless she had accepted that being comfortable with uncertainty was the only way to live and that in itself was okay. Green hues settled upon his as a small smile crossed her lips and she leant into his hand for the brief moment it ghosted her cheek. “Unless of course you’d rather sell me something?” She taunted, tone void of everything bar sarcasm as she moved beside the male to the edge of the dance floor. Dancing had never enticed her all that much, but it was an excuse to be close to the other that was something she dared not turn down. “As much as I’d love to take you up on that offer, I really don’t think this is the place for it. Still, I’ll take a raincheck on the off chance you land yourself in a cell again.”

ASHER WINSTON:
It was more than obvious how annoyed, pissed, mad, upset or whatever she was feeling since it was practically radiating from her. Riven’s comment was fresh in his mind about if his date was going to be a problem or not. He knew that Maddison wouldn’t interfere with any of his dealings but he also knew the lengths both of them would go through to protect each other especially after she had called him out about what he said to her that night after his arrest. He tilted his head down to look at the bar top, pressing his lips together as he nodded his head slowly. “I’m goin’ to do my best not to leave here in cuffs tonight.” He told her, knowing if he had tried to make that promise and he did end up in cuffs that he would feel like an ass for breaking any promises towards her. He turned his head to look over at her, reaching out to tuck a strand of her brown hair behind her ear. “Think in the meantime we can enjoy ourselves? Ignore the elephant in the room.”
Tumblr media
...
The brunette knew she had no right to sour the evening with her poor mood. And yet the idea of loosing the last remaining person that she considered family, remained a very real fear that had only been brought out in the wake of the other’s arrest. A life of freedom while her best friend rotted behind bars left her stomach in knots and she was powerless to the image of such things in the wake of his admission to being required to work that evening. There was a time where she too had chosen her work over other aspects of her life. Only now the roles were reversed and she couldn’t help but wonder if the tightness in her chest was the same feeling Tommy experienced when she too declined his offer to leave the life he had helped her build and the job she had committed a nearly a decade of her life toward. Perhaps it was but karma rearing it’s ugly head and she was fated to feel the same sting of rejection she had subjected her formed mentor too. “Yeah.“ She answered, exhaling a sigh as green hues finally lifted to meet his. “You still want that dance?” Maddy quipped, slipping from her stool as she turned to face him.

LUCA VITAL:
“Anything to numb the disappointment,” he replied, rather apt in his abhorrent disdain for the current climate and company. Shockingly enough, seeing Maddison Campbell, while not surprising, offered a semblance of relief. Perhaps it existed only in the familiarity, but still, it was something in and of itself. It only begged the question of who else might be lingering the streets of Chicago - perhaps it was an omen of time slipping thin. Snorting at the accuracy of what she’d expected, Luca shook his head, “You’re a little late to that chapter of my life, close call but… you know me.” Always willing to take a step in the wrong direction in order to come out on top. “As if you being here should be any less concerning. Is that what’s next? A Sinaloa Armageddon in Chicago? Remind me to get out of dodge sooner rather than later.”
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
“I see time hasn’t had any effect whatsoever on that attitude either.” The brunette snorts, as amusement briefly dances across her features.” No surprises there.“ And there wasn’t, because while many went about searching for ways to grow, people like Luca and Maddison were looking for anything but. His next admission however has her very nearly spitting out the remnants of her glass before she quickly swallows and green hues shift in the direction of her friend. “No fucking way, you actually managed to get yourself caught?“ She muses, though expects little of any explanation given their present environment and the number of strangers that surround them. “Sounds like a story worth hearing down the track.“ She drawled, a short chuckle escaping her as she discarded of her empty glass and plucked the freshly made drink from the bar before her. “Not exactly, unless your idea of a Sinaloa Armageddon is a couple of sicarios hunting down a wayward gringa then you might be on the right track.” The woman answered, tone quiet as she offered a shrug of indifference. “I think you’re safe, for now at least.”

NAOMI JONES:
Tumblr media
“Okay I’m glad we’re on the same boat!” Naomi laughed as her and Maddison fell into step together putting space between them and the art. Yes art could be subjective and beauty was in the eye of the beholder but something told her these pieces were made to be over the top to fit the theme. Which defeated the purpose for her and her enjoyment because the last thing she needed was art to make her dizzy. “At least that’s out of the way and we can enjoy the rest of the night! And don’t worry I think I’ve had enough interesting art to last me the next two years,” she laughed once more as they reentered the ballroom already leading them to the bar. The night was young and pacing herself were just words she’d feel better about uttering as her actions contrasted them. “Okay a drink first! Nope, I came alone but,” she paused to give her a knowing look full with a wide grin and raised brow. “You brought a date!” she said it matter of factly and less like a question because she’d seen Maddison with someone earlier.
...
Tumblr media
“Well, I’d be concerned if we weren’t.“ The brunette teased, nudging the others shoulder playfully with her own as they fell into step beside one another. “Anyone who looks at buying one of those pieces either has a serious lack of vision or more money than sense.” She added, as she shook her head in distaste. While it seemed there were a number of individuals that were almost awe struck by the art installations that were scattered about the room, there were equally a number of people with expressions that mirrored their own. “Ain’t that the truth. Though I can’t say you’ll find me checking out the Art Institute anytime soon if that was an indication of what’s on offer.“ She drawled, as a short chuckle escaped her. “Which reminds me, when do we get to see Samantha Logan take the stage again? Because if I remember correctly, you have a voice that’s destined for so much more outside of the basic clubs and bars of this city.” She mused, stealing a glance toward her friend whom had always shown a great deal of talent than most others. Maddison nodded gleefully at the mention of a drink as the duo made their way toward the bar. “I did.” She said, unable to stop the slow spreading smile. “You remember Asher?”

ASHER WINSTON:
NYE PARTY December 31st w/ @maddisoncampbell
Asher knew his working tonight was going to be a damper on the evening but he was going to do his best to make it a night to remember for the both of them. He walked up to the bar, placing his hands down on the surface of the counter as he turned his head to look over at the brunette with a glass in her hand. “I’ll have what she’s having,” he told the bartender as he leaned down, resting his elbows on the bar top. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know he would want us to work tonight and I’ll make it all short and sweet. You won’t even notice I’m gone,” which he knew was a lie because Maddison was always aware of what was going on around them. “Think I can get a dance in after you finish that drink?”
Tumblr media
...
Having settled into one of several available bar stools an hour prior, Maddison had already downed more drinks than she had intended that evening. It went without saying that her mood had taken a dive in the aftermath of her dates admission of truth. The evening of his arrest remained fresh in her mind and it felt almost as if he was temping fate by delving back into his role just shy of two months later. While she understood the level of risk that came with such work, his doing so while the FBI were undoubtedly still watching seemed like a fools errand. Which seemed to add to what could only be described as a shift in the air between them, since her having confirmed over Christmas that she had heard him utter those three little words. Instead of responding immediately she offering a small nod before downing the remnants of her drink. “Perhaps. Think you can promise you won’t walk out of here in handcuffs tonight?”

TOMMY PEREZ:
“No, you can’t.” He wonders if the irony of that statement has been lost on Maddison considering how desperately Tommy attempted the same long ago, near pleading with the woman to leave Sinaloa and help herself out of this life. Now they stood on the precipice of the exact situation that kept him up at night a few years prior. Only this time he’s amassed enough sway that his hands are no longer tied. “I fuckin’ hate this shit, y’know that?” Hates being thrust into this position between both factions, hates that it wound up on his doorstep at all, and especially hates that even now, after everything she’s done, he can’t find it in himself to turn his ex away. “I can say you moved north to escape the heat. Toronto, then Montreal, and that’s the last I heard. Let ‘em spin their wheels a bit ‘til they decide you’re a ghost.” Not that he couldn’t request a full backing off, but the arms dealer lacked a solid reasoning to give them beyond a firm because I said so. It worked well for mothers and less so in the world of violent business dealings. Unfortunately he knew enough about Maddison’s father to confirm that he wouldn’t rest until his daughter returned, not only due to blood relation but the resources sunken into training her. That’s how it worked for these mafioso types, whether it be cartel or Syndicate or Bratva, children are investments first and foremost and not so easily released without a damn good chase. “But you work here ‘til we can figure out what’s next. I can’t have you running around this city stirring up trouble and bringing cartel shit into the mess we’ve got here. Got it?”
Tumblr media
...
Maddison can all but offer a nod in response, the irony of her own words are not lost upon her as she shifts her weight from one foot to another within the dusty garage. “And you think I do?” She couldn’t help but counter, as a scoff parted her lips and she shook her head. Biting down hard upon the fleshy inside of her check, it’s an attempt to prevent herself from making the situation worse than it already is by way of her unfiltered quick witted mouth. A skill that has let her down about as many times as it has allowed her to escape sticky situations. And on instinct she reaches out, hand enclosing around his forearm as green hues swirl with something akin to relief. “Thank-you...” She breathes in response to his confirmation of the plan to help her. It means more than any two part word can ever convey and yet it’s all she’s able to offer. Retracting her hand she offers a curt nod, as the brunette is rendered silent, the corners of her lips curving upward in the smallest of smiles. “When have you ever known me to stir up trouble?” She drawled, question rhetorical as sarcasm remains thick within her voice. “Okay, you’ve got it boss.” The only child settles for feigning a motion which can only be perceived as an attempt at a salute before she turns on her heel and heads toward the door in which she entered.
The last thing Maddy dares do is overstay her welcome, especially with the man that played a great part in shaping her into the woman she had become. Despite their differences and the inevitable ending of what was once a very strong foundation between two people, she was thankful that he had managed to escape and seek the life he so desired and deserved. However, as fingertips enclose around the doorknob, she hesitates pausing in the doorway as she considers her next words. “For what it’s worth. You were right.” The brunette started, hesitating in the doorway as green hues flickered back to find his. It was a rare sight to ever catch the woman admitting to her own faults and yet it felt almost necessary in the moment. “I should have left with you when I had the chance. Maybe then this all could have been avoided.“ She added, shoulders rising and falling in a shrug of indifference. Nevertheless, Maddison wasn’t someone to dwell on past mistakes. With her attention drawn directly to the future, she offered the other a curt nod before pulling back the door and disappearing into the night. For the first time in a long while, she’s hopeful that perhaps there could be a light at the end of the tunnel, even for someone with grazed knees and bloodied hands just like her.

“Asshole, watch where you’re going!” Maddison spat after a seemingly intoxicated man, as he  sent her stumbling backward into that of another. Catching herself, she muttered a word of an apology toward the innocent bystander before looking back to watch the drunkard stumble off through the crowd. Raking a hand through her hair, her expression sobered some when she noted the missing pearl earing. The set had been one of a few items she had kept in the wake of her mothers passing and the idea of loosing them, sent a tidal wave of anxiety through the woman  “Shit.” She cursed, features turning pale as she attempted to backtrack through the crowd in an attempt to retrace her prior steps only to knock into another. “”Sorry, sorry -- I don’t suppose you’ve picked up an earing around here at all?” She queried, despite knowing the chances of it being found with such heavy foot traffic was very slim.

LUCA VITALE:
open
location: grand ballroom
For the most part, the gig that Luca had worked himself into for the bratva kept him busy and better yet - out of reach of certain others. He’d yet to really find anything about it that he disliked as greatly as finding refuge among the Bratva to begin with. At least, he’d thought so, until he’d entered the extravagant ballroom and was overcome by the overwhelming urge to roll his eyes into the back of his head. A group of loud, middle aged women shuffled around him, giggling and asking him to save a dance, his response little more than a menial smile and unenthusiastic nod as he wove his way out of their grasp. A shiver ran down his spine, the kind that one could encourage on their own and by the time he’d reached the bar, he’d internally cursed himself - and mapped out the entire room, much to his own dismay. “Double ouzo and.. whatever they’re having..” Clearly, those beside him had been waiting far longer, and while he wasn’t one to pave the way for anyone, it was new years.
Tumblr media
...
A rather potent comment rested upon the tip of the brunette’s tongue as a tall figure slipped in front of her within the line to the bar. And just when she was about to utilize the guise of the crowd and attempt a jab to his ribcage he spoke up and a sense of familiarity settled over her. “Jesus, you’re still drinking that shit...“ Maddison muttered, the man’s tone all but confirmation of yet another ghost of the past. Only this one was fortunately much more tolerable that the first. Requesting another rum and coke she wasted no time in downing the remnants of her glass before returning it to the bar as she stepped around him. “And here I thought you’d be doing time in some Italian prison somewhere by now. Should I be concerned that you’ve managed to weasel your way into Chicago?“

NAOMI JONES:
where: nye event | near art installations
who: @maddisoncampbell
Tumblr media
Naomi appreciated different kinds of art, the way people could express themselves through all kinds of mediums fascinated her. Although as she stepped away with Maddison in tow she couldn’t help but bring fingers to her temples. “Did I have too much to drink already or did that piece make you dizzy too?” she asked with a bit of a laugh still satisfied in the way her dress swished with each step. With a shake to her head she turned to her friend with a laugh, “I need to pace myself before the countdown.” she said more to herself as they began reentering the ballroom. “Are you finally gonna join me for a dance?”
...
Tumblr media
“Throw nauseous on top of that and that was exactly how whatever that was supposed to be, made me feel.“ Maddison replied, stifling a chuckle as she shook her head as if to clear the image from memory while they turned to make their way past various other installations. There was once a time in her adolescence where the only child practically had a sketch book attached at her hip, an item that her father was quick to strip her of. Drawing was a useless skill she was told, something that would get her no where in life, thus it was abandoned all too quickly by her young impressionable mind. “I think pacing ourselves might fly out the window if we have to look at any more of those ‘things’.” She added, a light smile tugging at her lips as she uttered a sigh. “I suppose I can do that, just the one though.” Maddy teased, though with a few more drinks in her system that number was bound to become flexible. “You come with anyone tonight?”

TOMMY PEREZ:
Tumblr media
“Sorry to hear that.” And he is to some extent, recalling how close Maddy had always been to her mother. Or at least the way in which she cared for her long ago, both literally and emotionally. The woman before him now is built of rough edges, fostered by his own hand and collected from the shards of people she’s tried to piece back together; a sucker for broken things. And Tommy knows that better than anyone, still a number on her infuriating list despite how his mind qualifies their prior relationship. “Christ. You’ve really got a death wish, Campbell.” Peacemakers are a last resort and not spared lightly, which means her father already called in a favor and they have few cards left to play–– no, not they. This is distinctly not his problem. “Or it’s how I also end up on the cartel’s hit list. Loyalty is only pocket deep for them, you know that.” Yet his words, regardless of their sharpened tone, aren’t an outright dismissal. “You’re asking me to risk my position as a liaison between our bosses to save your ass.” After every effort he made to get her out of Sinaloa, she still wound up in the very situation he wished to avoid.
...
“Thanks, but it was inevitable. She decided her fate years ago --- can’t help someone that won’t help themselves, right?“ As much as Maddison loved her mother, she knew it was but only a matter of time before she succumbed to her struggle with addiction. She had attempted to help her for the greater part of her life only to fail. Much as Tommy had attempted to help her by encouraging her to leave Sinaloa when he did. Stubborn to the bone, the woman had decided to stick it out only to what would be her detriment in the end. Mentor turned lover now strangers, it was as if they come full circle and she was once again asking for his help, only this time it wasn’t something she could scrap her way out of, it was the only option. “Do you honestly think I’d be asking if there was any other way? I’m stuck between a fucking rock and a hard place, Tommy.  And even if I wanted to go back now --- I’d be a dead woman the moment I stepped over that border.” After months of avoiding the calls of her boss and her father, there was no escaping the wrath of her former employer. Exhaling a sigh she dragged a hand through her hair, thinking through her next words as a small hint of fear crept into her tone. “I don’t want you to have to risk anything, but they trust you, I trust you. You’re the only person that has the ability to throw them off my trail.” Which was the truth given the cartel’s connections were widespread but highly selective. “I’m aware of just how big of an ask this is, believe me I am. And if you do this, then I'm indebted to you. Whatever you need done, or your ‘people’ need done --- you know I’m good for my word. Please Tommy.“ Tone almost pleading as green hues searched his. Maddison wasn’t the type to ask for help, she’d sooner drown in a puddle of her own pride let alone beg for the help of another. But this was different, this was life and death.
