“We always dream of changing the entire world, but sometimes, changing a single soul is enough, for inside every human, there is a world.“ —— 📷: Taken at an Orang Asli village in Kampong Aman Damai, Royal Belum, Perak. Like most kids, these ones I met at the kampung were very shy yet curious. I wasn't sure why they seemed intrigued, it could be that they were wondering why I was taking plentiful photos of them or it could be of this electronic device that I was holding. But this particular orang asli kampung that I visited was considered a modern one, where the adults keep mobile phones; the tourists are allowed to visit and interact with them; the villagers are clothed in regular T-shirts, kain batik and trousers; they learn to converse in Malay; and from time to time, the men of the village would travel to town by boat when their hunting days are unsuccessful. There are many more orang asli tribes hidden away in the jungles of Royal Belum, but they prefer to remain hidden from civilisation. I can't help but to wonder how the lives of the unmodernised villagers are like and how I wish I could catch a glimpse of their traditional, tribal ways of their everyday lives in the deep jungles. #RoyalBelum #Belum #Perak #VisitPerak2017 #OrangAsli #Malaysia @belumrainforestresort (at Royal Belum)

“It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognise, accept and celebrate those differences.” – Audre Lorde. "No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite." - Nelson Mandela. (📷: Personal photo. I love reading these stories, they truly warm my heart and how lovely that this particular story comes from behind the closed palace doors. At the end of the day, the colour of our skin doesn't matter at the slightest bit, what matters is how we make other people feel. Alhamdullilah (Praise be to God) for the reunion between Ah Kiat and Ah Chom & the Princesses. #Repost @sarinaiskandar with @repostapp. ・・・ From left: Ah Kiat, 62, and Ah Chom, 60. Their late father Ah Leng (and mother) migrated from Hainan, China and served as a chef at the old Istana Negara for over 30 yrs. My mum has not seen them for over 40 yrs since my Tok's first term as Agong ended in the 70s. My mum managed to find them again after decades through FB and arranged a lunch date. When Ah Chom saw my mum and I, she teared up. I've never met her before but as soon as she hugged me, I cried. She told me she really loves my mum. You see, my mum and her grew up together at the old istana and there are some friendships that never die even when you've been apart for decades...to be continued! (1/3)

When things don't go your way, just remember... "You may not see it today or tomorrow, but you will look back in few years and be absolutely perplexed and awed by how every little thing added up and brought you somewhere wonderful - or where you always wanted to be. You will be grateful that things didn't work out the way you once wanted them too." 😌 #saturdaythoughts (📷: Personal photo. Taken in Perdana Quay in Pulau Langkawi, Kedah.)

Just over a month ago, HRH Permaisuri Johor, Raja Zarith Sofia launched the ‘Zarith Sofia’s Initiative for Educational Financial Assistance' to Malaysian students living in UK and US who are struggling with the weakened Ringgit. Since then, a total of 400 Malaysians have applied for the financial assistance. Now, it was recently announced that the Zarith Sofia’s Initiative for Educational Financial Assistance will be providing US$500 (RM2,300) or £500 (RM3,400) to 100 Malaysian students studying in the US and the UK. Congratulations to all Malaysians who are given this opportunity! 👏 Please rest assured that this is only the starting point for the Foundation as the Chairman of the Foundation (Datuk Dr Muhammad Ridzuan Salleh) said, “Education is too precious. This is just the beginning. 100 students is just the beginning.” He also added that they are currently planning to work with restaurants in the UK and the US to issue food stamps for Malaysian students. It’s not easy to study abroad to begin with, especially when you are halfway across the world from your family and your comfort zone. And on top of that, there’s that bothersome exchange rate weighing heavily on our worries. 😒 But InshaAllah (God willingly), the Raja Zarith Sofia’s Foundation will be able to help more and more Malaysians living abroad. 😌 Indeed, ‘verily in hardship, there is ease.’ And let's not forget to thank the beautiful and kind-hearted Queen of Johor 👸🏻, who makes no empty promises. (Now that’s how a leader is supposed to act.) #Malaysia #Johor #PermaisuriJohor #RajaZarithSofia
