The fact that Richie went to the Kissing Bridge after he was attacked specifically for being gay is honestly mind blowing to me, and just goes to show how brave he really is. Yes, he could be considered a coward for hiding from his feelings for three decades (he certainly would say that of himself), but he carved it anyway. It was an act of defiance, a fuck you to Derry, to Henry Bowers, to Pennywise. It was a big fuck you to the fears he himself had about his friends rejecting him, Eddie rejecting him. He had a rough path ahead of him, and he knew it, but he did it anyway. I couldn’t be more proud of him.

how many times do you think…eddie passed the kissing bridge….and when he saw the R+E that had been carved he never gave it a second look..because why would he?..the kissing bridge wasnt something he ever wanted to spend too much time looking at or thinking about; when he did he felt sick…like someone had plunged a hand into his chest and yanked his heart out. because the kissing bridge was just another reminder of all the evil in derry. so it went unnoticed. just another meaningless carving amidst several others. he never noticed it..the love confession that was carved for the whole town to see but was only meant for him (and the boy who put it there)….and he never knew
