King Mortimus and Queen Isabella Goth are the beloved, if excentric, monarchs of Willow Creek.

A rare example of an arranged marriage working out wonderfully, the two are known to be madly in love and are often seen out and about by their subjects, taking in both the kingdom and each other.

But even their devoted love cannot distract them from their duty to Willow Creek.

One of their trusted council members is King Mortimus' elder sister, Prioress Agnès Goth. He could not possibly run the kingdom without her help, and he hopes some day his own children will follow the same path.

Princess Cassandra Goth is certainly already fullfilling her father's hopes. A studious girl, she devotes herself to honing her mind and her musical skills.

And she finds plenty of time for lessons at the abbey with her aunt.

Prince Alexander may be young, but he watches his sister and parents with keen admiration.

And his close friendship with Aimée, the daughter of the family servants, proves he will love his subjects just as his parents have.

Besides the royal family, their household includes Aalis and Piers Baudry, Aimée's parents, who manage the expansive castle and gardens with expertise.

Not much drama here, because I love the Goths and I just want them to be happy. But there's certainly room for it - Alexander has a friendship both with Aimée and a slightly less close one with a noble girl, so he could potentially scorn a noble bride for a peasant and become the scandal of the kingdom. And while I have set them up to follow the patriarchy like medieval France and have Alexander become king after his father, Cassandra is certainly a very well qualified candidate - perhaps she might argue for her own inheritance rights?

Also Prioress Agnès lives in the neighbouring Willow Creek Abbey lot, and has a little scandal of her own - she's in a relationship with another nun. Depending on how you want your world to view the clergy and same-sex relationships, this can be a non-issue, a scandal because of their genders, or a scandal because they are nuns and not meant to have any romantic relationships at all. I have set it up for the final option, because I actually feel it is the most historically accurate - there is actually a decent amount of evidence for romantic relationships between nuns!

I'm setting up Bella to be a foreign princess by birth, so her relatives will appear when I get around to Tartosa - I'm not sure yet whether it will be inspired by Italy or Spain.

Willow Creek is actually nearly done - I have a few more lots to build (4-ish) and a few more families to set up, but it should be done within the next few weeks (of course my dissertation is due soon as well, so it will probably be after the first week of September).

My version of the BFF household for medieval French Willow Creek keeps the same drama in a picturesque medieval bakery.

These childhood friends have transformed a run-down bakery into their pride and joy - but will their bonds survive the pangs of love and jealousy?

Loyse le Boulengier (Liberty Lee) runs her late father's once run-down bakery in the heart of Willow Creek.

But she could not possibly do it without the help of her childhood friends Symmone Houllegate (Summer Holiday) and Thevot Scale (Travis Scott).

The three live together above the bakery and their joint efforts have turned the run-down shop into Willow Creek's most beloved business.

Despite long claiming to view him as a brother, both Loyse and Symmone have found themselves developing more than friendly feelings for Thevot - and Thevot has no idea which woman he loves more.

Will the bakery survive? Will their friendship?

Oasis Springs as an Outremer (Crusader State) world is here!

This is version 1 of my Medieval Save File. I have only filled out Oasis Springs, though I have included a few extra households in the world to hopefully prevent too many random townies from spawning!

The save file includes a completely built out Oasis Springs (with one pre-built home and two empty lots for your families). There are clubs, sims have relationships outside of their families, and there is plenty of drama to uncover!

The save includes some modified familiar faces (the Caliente family, the Landgraabs, and a few others) and plenty of new sims to befriend.

I've also included some custom medieval holidays - these are rather more Christian and European focused than I would like for this world in particular but it is a work in progress and I'm open to ideas!

Special thanks to @goldenrosesims for the King's Tournament Lot (I have made a few changes but the main lot is all her wonderful work!) and to all the mod/cc creators I have utilised. Full credits can be found in the excel spreadsheet included in the download below.

Fair warning - I have done my best to weed out any unneccesary mods but this is a hefty mod/cc save - it's nearly 13GB of custom content (down from my 25GB folder - I've done a lot of work organising everything). I also have all of the packs - I doubt I've used all of them but you may find some content is missing if you don't have everything. It's shouldn't be a massive issue as the vast majority of the content is CC, but Businesses & Hobbies, Get Together, Horse Ranch, and probably Realm of Magic are used most heavily I think?

Medieval Build: Oasis Springs Bathhouse

This may seem a bathhouse fit for a king, but all the residents of Oasis Springs are able to enjoy a swim and relaxing soak at the public baths.

This is a pool lot which uses some CC but not too much, so hopefully more people are able to use it than my previous market build! CC list and download link beneath the cut.

Medieval Build: Market of Oasis Springs

This market has everything the medieval sims of Oasis Springs could desire! From precooked meals to crafting supplies, from animals to clothes and jewels, the Oasis Market is sure to delight. Amidst the variety of goods for sale, the market also features entertainments from the newest mechanical organ to public executions.

This is a retail lot equipped with many objects set for sale, spots to buy animals, use the thrifting function from HSY, and a variety of functional stalls. It has been playtested, all the required items have been set for sale, and it should be generally functional.

Fair warning - this is a heavily cluttered lot and uses a lot of CC. It may unfortunately not be suitable for all PCs.

The CC list for this is also very long - if you are not interested in the BrazenLotus mods, for instance, feel free to leave those out - you will be missing mainly food products set for sale which you can always replace with your own items.

As I mentioned above, this has been playtested but please let me know if you have any issues!

Crusader States-inspired Oasis Springs is almost done!

The largest remaining tasks are the two big noble houses in the upper center of the map (one of which will be the Landgraab palace, which I have been putting off for ages) and properly cluttering up the world with TOOL.

Also are there any more community lot types that would be particularly useful? I currently have two parks, a museum (church/mosque), a restaurant (tavern/inn), and a market square. Plus there are two small business shops, a pottery shop and an herbalist. I have plenty of ideas for other worlds but am not sure what else Oasis Springs really needs. Please let me know if you have any recommendations from your own medieval/fantasy gameplay!

My other concern is that I have Blowtorch installed and plan to clutter up the world with TOOL based on the empty version from Blowtorch - but I don't know how often people actually have Blowtorch installed and if it's too much of a commitment for people to use the save file?

My first CC project! A simple recolour set of linen clothes for peasants. Mostly natural colours but a few more fun (but still historical) ones as well. I think they should work well to expand your medieval sims' wardrobe basics.

All seven items come in the same linen-textured 13 colours from Vintage Simstress' Northern European Palette.

It's not perfect but I'm pretty proud of myself. Working on mesh edits next, so some of these items may be revisited (in particular the girl's shift dress - I want to make the skirt a little longer and possibly remove the pocket, plus fix the minor discolouration around the neckline).

The Pegonites and Notaras family, a well-to-do family who have been in Oasis Springs for generations, since the time when Oasis Springs was a part of the empire of Chestnut Ridge. Once tax collectors and owners of a vast vinyard, their fortunes have faded since the Landgraab conquest. Now they are far from any governmental power and have sold off most of their land, but the family still lives comfortably in their ancestral home.

Anna Pegonitissa, the matriarch of the family, is a devout widow. She spends her days tending the remnants of her husband's gardens and doing her best to reign in her difficult youngest child. Anna is close to her eldest daughter and dotes on her only son, but after a lifetime of being a wife and mother, she does not always know what to do with herself now that her husband has died and her children are grown.

Melitta Notaras, Anna's eldest daughter, has followed her mother's footsteps well. She has married well, and given her husband both a son and a daughter. She has gradually taken over her mother's responsibilities in the household and works to repair their standing in the community.

Unfortunately, their peers have reduced from governors and palace officials to lowly landed knights like the Vimont-Hussey family next door.

Melitta is a doting mother to her son Bardas and young daughter Maria, though she worries Bardas may be following her siblings' lead too closely.

And Melitta's worries are not unfounded - though he is a clever child, young Bardas would much rather follow his uncle and aunt's exciting examples than join the boring family business of his father.

Niketas Notaras is a scribe and historian, a distant cousin of the far more powerful Notaras family in Chestnut Ridge. He loves his wife and gets along well with her mother Anna, but has nothing but disdain for his irresponsible brother-in-law and unladylike sister-in-law.

For an arranged marriage, Melitta and Niketas are well-matched, and still find time for each other amidst the hustle and bustle of family life and Niketas' work.

Middle child Manuel Pegonites is something of a dandy, far more interested in his appearance and showing off his horsemanship than improving the family fortunes. Worse, in his mother's eyes, he refuses even to marry, and though Anna likes her son-in-law, she worries the family name will end with her son.

Manuel certainly gets plenty of attention from the women of Oasis Springs, but he prefers to keep his options open rather than add another person to make demands on his time.

However much Anna may worry for Manuel's future, she despairs for youngest daughter Euphemia. While Melitta was a well-behaved child happy to take her place in the world as a wife and mother, Euphemia is a rebel.

Much like her brother, Euphemia spends most of her time with her horse Starfire.

Euphemia is young, and Anna and Melitta hope that they may still be able to mould her into a respectable woman. But Euphemia has her own plans - she dreams of some day competing in a tournament alongside the best knights of the realm.

This family is inspired by the Byzantine settlers of Palestine and Syria. Though they maintained much of their prominence after the initial Muslim conquest, the Crusader states were less welcoming to variant forms of Christianity and wanted to impose their own systems on the conquered lands.

The Vimont and Hussey family, a landed gentry family who came to Oasis Springs with Queen Nadine Landgraab's father as part of the conquest. Though their life in Oasis Springs has not brought head of household Sir Martin Vimont the riches he once dreamed of, they live a comfortable life as knights in service to the Oasis Springs crown. Unfortunately, comfort has not brought happiness for this household.

Sir Martin Vimont came to Oasis Springs as a young man with his late wife, in the army of then Duke Oleard Landgraab. Though much of the army returned to their homelands after the conquest, Sir Martin stayed behind, earning his family a small holding. Sir Martin continued in the service of the Landgraab family until his retirement, and his son Henri has followed in his footsteps.

Sir Henri Vimont wants to be a great knight like those he grew up hearing about. Instead, he is little more than a tournament knight, far from the glory of his father's stories. He spends most of his time at the tournament grounds, training with the family horse Tempest. Perhaps even worse, his new wife Alienor may be beautiful, but he never really wanted to marry, and certainly not to such an opinionated woman.

Alienor Vimont is certainly not living her dream either. Her beauty was meant to earn her a rich husband and a huge house full of servants. Instead, she has married an angry, barely wealthy man with a house full of relatives and not a servant in sight.

At least she has found a friend in Henri's younger sister Ursule.

And her young son Martin II is a sweet baby, even if she has to spend rather more time caring for him herself than she would have preferred. Thankfully, Aunt Ursule does not mind assisting with that as well.

Ursule Hussey is Sir Martin Vimont's younger child, the picture of her late mother in looks and household managment. She longs for a happy marriage and children of her own, but unfortunately, fate has bound her to her father's elderly compatriot, her new husband Sir Guy Hussey.

Besides the age difference, a happy marriage with Sir Guy is all but impossible. Instead of helping around the house or contributing in any way, Guy spends his days fishing and complaining that his lovely young wife does not pay him enough attention.

Recently, Ursule has found some of the happiness she longs for in John Spring (Johnny Zest), the illegitimate son of Queen Nadine Landgraab.

Of course, now that she has found herself with child, things have gotten a little more complicated. Will the baby be her husband's? Will he believe that it is his child? Despite her worries of exposing her affair, Ursule can't help but hope the baby is John's.

This is by far the messiest family I've created for the save file yet. When I was building out their skills etc., they even threw another wrench in the family dynamics - the only pair who have any sort of attraction for each other is Sir Martin Vimont for his daughter-in-law Alienor! So much potential for drama with them :)

Also thanks to @goldenrosesims for the King's Tournament Grounds! I made a few changes to turn it into a functional park with some extra activities but it's a great lot for all the horse training etc! I will show some more of it with my next family upload.

The Adeyemi sisters - the daughters of a royal house from a kingdom to the south of Oasis Springs, the Adeyemi sisters fled their homeland when their uncle killed their father and took the throne for himself.

Though their new home in Oasis Springs is large, the sisters live a considerably more frugal lifestyle than what they were raised with, and are struggling to fit in to a society that does not always pay their royal blood the respect they are due.

Oldest sister Olusola was once the captain of the great trade (and sometimes pirate) ship the Bonefish. When her father died, she rescued her sisters and gave up her seafaring life to provide a stable home for them.

Two of her crew members, first mate Bohemond Bellamy and Juma Mrefu, have joined the household as well.

Juma may have had some ulterior motives in his decision to give up his pirate ways and join Olusola's new household. But while Olusola is perfectly happy to let Juma share her bed, she is unsure about taking this further. After all, she has a reputation to maintain now, not just for herself but for her sisters'. And Juma may give her thrills, but his family is far below her bloodline.

Middle sister Abiola has distracted herself from her family's misfortunes with her intellectual pursuits. It may set her apart from most of the noble women of Oasis Springs, but an interest in the stars runs strong in the sisters' mother's line.

And since settling in Oasis Springs, Abiola may have found another distraction, in the form of a blossoming friendship (and maybe more?) with Olusola's first mate Bellamy.

Bellamy may have left the ship out of nothing but his immense loyalty to Olusola as his captain, but he has certainly found himself captivated by Abiola. He worries deeply, however, for how Olusola will react to her little sister's new love interest.

Youngest sister Ekundayo is a sweet and gentle soul, scarcely more than a child when her father was slain. Her sisters have done everything in their power to protect her from the reality of the situation, and Ekundayo is mostly happy in her new life.

But as she grows into adulthood, will Ekundayo continue to be happy away from her homeland? Or will her childish wonder morph into a determination for revenge?

I would really like to do an entire world for the Adeyemi sisters' homeland, but I'm worried both about finding enough appropriate CC and which world to use. I really wish we had some sort of African world, although I think it would likely end up a city world and not be particularly useful for historical gameplay anyway. I do like the multicultural opportunities presented by making Oasis Springs into a psuedo-Crusader State regardless.

A pair of ducks in my current WIP peasant family's home.

Sometimes it's hard to make peasant homes different enough to stay interesting - I think I need to find some more kids/toddler stuff as well, because my kids have hardly anything to do when I'm building out their parents' skills for the save file. I know I could just cheat the skills and be done with them, but I like the opportunity to get to know the families a bit.

I love this reshade preset (Eleanora by TalentedTrait) but the text blur makes it absolutely unusable for gameplay :( Any suggestions for something with similar lighting/colour without the text blur? I'm currently just using Amoebae's Foundation for gameplay because everything else I like is too hard to play with

The Al-Raeei family, a middle-class family in my Crusader states-inspired version of Oasis Springs. The Al-Raaei family have prospered in recent years through their large flock of sheep and goats and the family pottery shop.

The father of the family, Shaban, is a devoted family man with a bit of a temper. He spends his days caring for the farm and tending their flock.

The mother of the family, Ayda, is the brain and brawn behind the family pottery business. She makes the pottery herself with some small help from her children, and runs the shop as well.

Shaban and Ayda love each other dearly, but over the busy years of raising their family and maintaining their businesses, they have settled into a comfortable relationship rather than the passionate one of their youth.

The eldest daughter, Nasim, runs the household while her parents devote themselves to the family businesses.

Nasim is a romantic, and while she admires her parents' dedication and working relationship, she dreams of a more balanced life where she can devote herself to both her family and her skills.

The second child, Faraj, feels the pressure of inheriting his parents' legacy. He assists both his parents in their daily work, but makes sure to find time for his own hobbies...

And for his budding romance with none other than Nina Khalil. Sure, she's well above his station - but it's just harmless flirting, right?

The younger daughter, Jamila, is still finding her place in the shadow of her older siblings. She has a creative streak like her mother, but is fearful she will never be able to fill her sister Nasim's shoes in the household.

The youngest member of the family, little Talha. He idolises his father, brother, and oldest sister in particular.

The remade Caliente family for my medieval/fantasy save file. In my save, Oasis Springs is based loosely off the Crusader States. The Khalil family are local nobles who are working hard to gain the attention of the newly ruling Landgraab family and move up in society.

When not plotting to increase her family's standing in society, Lady Nighat Khalil enjoys playing the harp.

Lady Nighat's new fiance, Daud Lazano, is a soldier whose father accompanied the Landgraabs in their initial conquest of Oasis Springs. This marriage to the noble Khalil family is a scandalous step up in the world for him.

Lady Nighat is absolutely enamored with her younger beau, but Daud may have more of a wandering eye than she's ready for.

Nina Khalil is by far the more rebellious of the Khalil twins - Lady Nighat all but despairs for her future.

Nina would much rather stay up late riding her beloved stallion Adonis than practice her embroidery with her mother and sister.

Dina Khalil is the good girl - she is all in on her mother's plan to attract the Landgraab prince.

Dina remembers her late father in the small family chapel in their manor house.

Besides the Khalils, their servant Zoe Tantawy (Zoe Patel) also lives in the household.

I'm trying not to over-clutter most of the houses to avoid save bloat and I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out. I don't think I'm going to keep every pre-made sim in the save but I'm enjoying tranforming some of them for now. The Goths, Pancakes, Landgraabs, etc. have been redone but I have not even started on their homes.

I'd love ideas for what to do with Willow Creek in particular - I'm not sure which direction to go there.
