βIf you look into the eyes of a prophetess, you may witness a world burning and wild shadows dancing in fire, in mad mourning, in death. Look beneath the fear and see the frenzy: soundless screams, bodies ablaze, wine mingled with blood. Red on red in red. Look into those eyes, and you may then hear the hisses, the warnings. Or rather, the inevitable. And you may scream with her.β

One of the most ridiculous things about the show Merlin is that you meet this absolute twink and this absolute jock and you're like 'oh cool the classic brains vs brawns'
But then you get into the show, and you realize that actually no. Both of these men are ridiculously overpowered and ready to fight at a moment's notice but neither one of them has a singular brain cell.

Thinking about how to make the sex in an erotic computer RPG game-mechanically relevant in combat in a way that doesn't just boil down to non-standard game overs, and I had a horrible vision of... well, you know those JRPGs with the weirdly detailed cooking mechanics? Like, the Tales-style ones where you get to prepare a meal each time the party rests, and you get different persistent buffs for the next so many battles based on fine-grained criteria including what recipe you used, who you chose to prepare it, what supplementary ingredients were added, etc.? Picture that, except it's different combinations of partners, paraphernalia, and sex acts. All micromanaging who's doing what to whom in order to optimise your stats for the current quest. The hero getting a bonus to fire resistance because they got pegged last night.

not to be too 'kids these days' but boy the notes on that post about whether it's OK to ship things that the creator(s) of a work do not endorse are depressing. people have got waaaaaaaaaaaaay too comfortable with the idea that fandom and fanworks are things that creators should engage with and know about, let alone - good grief - exert some degree of control over. where is my fandom fourth wall, where has it gone
