Rowling has this new application form that you can fill out if you're a person going to court over one of the following reasons

(Plain text: We fund legal representation for women and organisations who:

Have lost their livelihoods or are facing tribunals because of their expressed beliefs

Are being forced to comply with unreasonable inclusion policies regarding single sex spaces and services, or female-only clubs and events

Are challenging legislation which takes away the freedoms or protections women are entitled to

Don't have adequate means to bring actions to court or to defend themselves)

And I just think it would be a little bit funny if the answers became unusable because of too many fake cases.

Today I learned that Van Halen have that rider in their contract about “a bowl of M&Ms with all the brown ones removed” in order to know at a glance if the promoter read the entire contract.  And the reason they do THAT is because they once had a stage collapse because a promoter hadn’t read the proper way to set up all the specific technical stuff.

So if the band goes in the dressing room or catering and sees brown M&Ms, they know they have to double-check the stage setup for safety.

The dentist sucks for many reasons, but my tale is that on my most recent trip they asked how often I brush my teeth, and I tried to make a whole deal about how "I'm doing better, but I've only been able to get up to twice a week," which is still an overestimation. My teeth are one of my critical anxiety pressure points, and genuinely it's taken me years to get to this point.

Ofc, the thing the dentist recommends is "well, lets try to work on bringing that up to twice a day," is if that's a brand new diagnosis I haven't heard a hundred times. I'm not really upset about it, but like I *told* you I'm working on anxiety meds, and I *told* you twice weekly is a personal best. Could you at least give me a smaller goal to aim for first? Rinse my mouth once in a while?

Anyway, yeah, life is too short to withhold small pleasures. Too many times I'll hold myself from something only to find myself brooding over it instead of doing anything productive. I'd rather waste time doing literally *literally* nothing than take 5 min to indulge myself.

"Saving it for a rainy day," or rather, enjoy life now and other good things will come. Eat the chocolate bar because another chocolate bar will come later to enjoy. And if you die before that happens, at least you were able to enjoy that chocolate bar!

Sometimes little pleasures in life are loadbearing. Whenever someone is like "If you'd just give up tea and coffee and sugar and--" im like I'll stop you right there. Because if you finish that sentence i am going to kill everyone in this building and then myself. If i have to face the horrors of the world without my little jar of caramel flavoured instant coffee i am going to go full American Psycho. Believe it or not, my main priority in life is not to have perfect teeth or be an Olympic athlete or look like a supermodel, but to actually enjoy living, because I spent far too long not doing that and it royally sucked. And boy, some people don't like hearing that. Particularly dentists

with love. you have to fact check shit. yes you. you still have to fact check shit. a lot of people are great at fact checking stuff they don’t want to be true, but somehow are still absolute ass at fact checking stuff that’s rhetorically convenient to them. even people my age, who I KNOW grew up doing internet/bibliography literacy workshops, and being warned not to believe anything that isn’t reliably sourced, people who DO harp on fact checking conservative output or whatever, are still kneejerk sharing unsourced shit that is partially or wholly untrue or misleading, because it suits whatever narrative they’re pursuing in that moment, without even a “take this with a grain of salt”. fact check!!!!!! look at the sources!!!!! yes it’s a drag!!! do it!!!!!
