Welcome to my Tumblr!

Things have changed lately, so I felt a new “pinned post” was in order!

Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Balan, Maestro of the Balan Theatre and a member of the Denizens of the Rose Garden family. My duty as maestro is to help those that find their way to my theatre balance out their emotions in other to attain happiness in their lives.

...Of course, that’s not all there is to me, hoho! My favorite things are chocolate ice cream, trains, squeaky things, as well as my fans and friends. I run a server on Discord for fans of my source material, and also have a Twitter account. These are the main places where you will find me, truth be told, but I’ll pop by here every so often. Perhaps the most important detail about me, however, is that I am a member of a plural system--we just call ourselves a family instead. Therefore, no, I am not “roleplaying” as Balan--I am Balan! (And please don’t accuse me of doing such, as that’s a big trigger for both Timer and myself.)

Well, I do believe that’s all the details! If you have any questions for me, do feel free to drop a line in my “ask box”. All I require from you is kindness.

...I understand why you departed now. I had no intent to rub anyone the wrong way, and I deeply apologize for my way of speaking.

Though I understand that you don’t intend to return, the doors will remain open should you change your mind one day.

I left a certain Discord server at my own accord

While the server is friendly and welcoming, I had an unpleasant experience that led me to this decision. Allow me to share you what happened.

On Sunday night, I shared a couple of videos of a remastered video game that I’m excited about. The admin shared their excitement as well, but shared their concern about it being a download-only game in America, as well as the questionable advertisements back then and the main character being associated with furries.

I empathized with their concern and agreed with the furries part, saying “Ah yes. Of course.” Then I added, “Rule34 is inevitable”.

The admin deleted my Rule34 reply and reprimanded me, saying “We do not speak of that in a server with a no NSFW rule”. I immediately apologized.

While I understand and agree that minors should be protected from knowing what Rule34 is, I felt frustrated and upset that they invalidated the point that I was trying to make. There’s no malicious intent with the way I said it, but the way the admin approached it kind of rubbed me the wrong way. Had they not said anything about furries, I wouldn’t have said anything about Rule34.

I left the server the next day. It was a difficult decision, but it was the right and sensible thing to do in order not to make the same mistake again. Besides, I cannot remain longer on a server that has no venting channel. I have no ill will against the admin and I’m grateful for the friends I’ve made there. I wish the admin and the server nothing but the best.

if you're gonna repost someone's art without permission or heck, even with permission, giving credit to them is absolutely the bare minimum.

and no. putting "credit to the artist!" is not good enough. i don't know how you managed to convince yourself that it is, but it definitely isn't.

put their username. their profile. their blog. their website. whatever you can to make sure people who see your repost know specifically who made it.

make sure it's legitimate. make sure it can be seen.

make sure the artist gets clear acknowledgement for the hard work you decided to lift for clout.

be considerate.
