for my followers, I have a second blog that I’m writing on about my life with Narcolepsy. Feel free to follow this as well if you want.
Welcome.
If you see this post, I’d like to simply just say hello.
In light of my newly diagnosed Narcolepsy, despite me having this problem for decades, I decided to start a blog to tell stories about my day as one. There’ll be older ones at first to play catch up, but I really just wanted to have somewhere to talk about these problems.
If you do wish to follow me just to read, I’m happy. If not, that’s fine as well I understand that.
I guess in general this is my personal diary? I just happen to have an audience.
Not quite sure how to end this first post. So, see-ya next time.

Me: I have narcolepsy.
Dude I worked with that day: Oh! I have narcolepsy too! *obnoxiously pretends to pass out*
Me: *internally, looking at camera a la The Office*
No, really though, this is why we need better education and awareness about chronic/invisible illnesses and the fact that they are legitimate disabilities. This is why I do what I do.
I didn’t have the energy that day to try to make him aware of how, erm… not so sensitive it is to make fun of a serious, debilitating illness to someone’s face when they were just brave enough to tell you they have it (would you do that to someone with epilepsy, especially considering epilepsy and narcolepsy are kinda considered brain illness cousins? according to my docs and everything I’ve researched the past several years since my diagnosis).
But I was in a good mood still so I just laughed, lightly tapped his knee to get his attention, and said, “Oh, stop that. Actually, it’s a huge misconception and a bit of a stereotype, the idea that all narcoleptics just fall asleep randomly and that’s all the disorder is. It’s a legitimate neurological illness and unfortunately narcoleptics are at a higher risk for suicide because of how hard it is to live with. I mean, can you imagine if your brain lacked the tools necessary to get restorative, regenerative sleep, and it messed up the rest of your body and life as a result?”
I spent some time explaining to him the different kinds of narcolepsy and what my specific symptoms are, and how because of this lack of awareness I lived with the more intense symptoms undiagnosed from age 12-23 and he was blown away! He had no idea, because again thanks to lack of education and poor media representation, he just thought narcolepsy “is when you fall asleep randomly.”
I’m glad I was able to use that opportunity to teach another person. He was super supportive after and wowed by my story.
Support your narcoleptic buddies, yo!

Diagnosed.
Yep, guess whose Narcoleptic on top of Depressed?
Your homeboy here.
Thanks genetics?
On top of sleeping due to depression, I also sleep thanks to Narcolepsy. Double whammy. Double the sleep.
Too bad it’s not a satisfying sleep.
Tempted to do a “Diary of an Narcoleptic” type thing.

full house without michelle is so weird to me and not because it’s flawlessly edited to make it more sinister and funny but because modern video editing allows people to remove a character from a tv show completely without seams

its weird to think horses were ever ‘prey animals’ because what fucking predator looks at a 8 foot tall ENORMOUS beast with pitch black devils eyes, terrifying teeth and extremely powerful legs and think ‘yeah lets go attack that one’

I feel like this is a very important thread considering a lot of people cut Hollywood abusers a lot of slack just because “they’re work is very good and entertaining”. There are plenty of other Hollywood actresses/actors that don’t pull off gross shit like this, support them instead…. At the end of the day, we need to put the victims first and stop letting this shit slide.
Full access to the thread incase anyone wants to open the sources.

the fact that this was written two years ago and it’s still relevant… what does that tell you?

Shout out to all your internet friends who are gone.
Those messenger screen names that haven’t logged on in ages, some before detailed profiles were a thing on those services.
Those emails that are long since abandoned, some with domains that no longer exist.
Those online friends you knew years ago and who then helped shaped you in some way, who you just can’t FIND anymore.
Those people who once were, and hopefully still exist IRL, that seem to have no known internet life anymore.
And those who have actually passed on, and their online lives are now a memorial to them.
I miss you all. I hope life is/was kind to you, and maybe one day, we’ll somehow connect again.
