where: pete's garage who: @ghostsbrokenbyfairytales (savannah)
maeve heard the door open and looked up from filing her nails and a grin spread across her face when she saw the blonde hair that she had grown accustomed to seeing as of late "morning savannah, axel's not in yet" she teased from her spot of having her feet up on her desk. "you not bored of seeing his face yet? i'm bored of stapling flyers to him when he's not paying attention"

trust her to lock herself in her apartment and losing the key. maeve knew that she kept a spare key over at the garage and right now her only way out was to scale down the apartment building. she was halfway down when she remembered she forgot the garage key "oh for fuck sake" she huffed, scaling back up the building again to the window to grab her key.
eventually on the way back down, she heard ben call out "i've ben up and down the side of the building like damn yo-yo and you're telling me to watch my step?" she hollered over her shoulder down at him "you're a right pain in the ass" she readjusted her foot since spiderman dictated from the ground "you know, maybe i'll spatter all over the ground just to inconvenience you"
huntsvillestarter / open to all / benjamin creed setting: the commune or apartment building
Benjamin was taking a nice early morning stroll. Sometimes, if he got out early enough, he could watch the sunrise and pretend it was like a sunset. As he passed by a building, he noticed a window open and stopped in his tracks. They started climbing down and he just couldn't tell if they were stealing or escaping a bedroom with haste. Normally, he wouldn't have said a word but the person's footing was completely off. "Watch your step there," he said, sticking his hands in his pockets and craning his neck to watch them. "I can't escape without being caught if you splatter all over the ground."

"i feel the struggle your mom went through because the adjustment hasn't been easy. non perishables and never ending vegetables aren't exactly the meals you want every day." maeve thought of her brother who would have a full blown meltdown if he was stuck in huntsville. the food issue alone would've sent him over the edge. "i think both can be correct" she chuckled "he definitely wouldn't make life easy here"
"nothing about this town is logical" she noted, picking up the glass and taking a sip of the drink. she hummed in appreciation for the drink. "you couldn't be more right about that. i came in here thinking i had options but in reality it all boils town to whatever kind of food is available. that was a bit of a rude awakening. my brother is the fussiest kid, he'd be a nightmare here"

"alright, yeah, you make a really good point. i certainly can't argue with that logic, nor do i want to." reaching forward, she slid her drink towards her, fingers swirling the glass around absent-mindedly. "it's nice to meet you too," she returned, a warm smile spreading across her features. "and i think you're right about the picky thing. as a child i refused to eat broccoli and greens, and now that's all i eat most days. funny how things change when they're forced to, huh?"

"aren't we all just little alice's stuck in underland? we might as well lean into the madness" she mused with a shrug of her shoulders. maeve gave a nod of thanks to the bartender when the drinks were placed down in front of pru and herself. "we all took being picky for granted before here, look at us now" she said, sending her a smile "nice to meet you pru, i'm maeve"
"that sounded very mad hatter of you, but i like it. this place feels like wonderland most of the time anyway. not in a good way." pru chuckled to herself, her fingers spinning the glass in front of her around and around before flagging the bartender down. "two more of these, please." she shot the person next to her a quick smile, her shoulders squaring up as if she were trying to make herself taller. "being picky feels pretty obsolete when our resources are limited, so i agree with you there. i'm pru."

maeve was just looking for a free seat to sit in "not to sound cliché, but we're all crazy here. we have to be to tolerate all this bullshit" she was one of the newer additions to the town but she's seen enough to know that everyone was dancing on a fine line of sane and insane. "i'm cool with that." she said, taking the seat "i'll take whatever you're drinking, we can't be picky around here with limited choices"
location: the sasquatch
status: open!
"i have to warn you that if you sit beside me, you run the risk of being associated with a crazy person." it was said in jest, a smile creeping onto pru's lips as she glanced at the person beside her. she was starting to feel more like herself lately, and while she was still having a hard time staying at home by herself, she figured small steps were better than no steps at all. "but, if you're cool with that outcome, the least i can do is buy you a drink. what would you like?"

"it's more about making it less sad looking than making it homey. a little beige house that had seen better days is hardly an optimistic place to be" maeve shuffled her box in her arms "nice to meet you, name's maeve. uhh, sure, alright, grab those lamps for me, would ya?" she asked nodding towards two large lamps she was going to originally have to come back for. at least nashra helping would save her from doing more than one trip.
"don't mention it. i get the need to make your space a little oasis -- especially with the way things are around here. i'm nashra." they nod towards the box in her hands. "you want me to take that off your hands? or at the very least i can carry some things. i'm stronger than i look, promise." of course, this willingness to help isn't purely out of some need to be a hero. looking good in people's eyes would ultimately benefit her.

maeve scrunched her face up at the sudden arrival in the booth that disturbed her peace "no one wants to play with me" she pouted "i'm sure there is someone that could suffer but then i'd have to track them down and we're already late in the day, it's a whole thing"
Jax threw himself down into the booth next to Maeve, his arm going up over the back. "Now baby girl, why are you sat all alone? Isn't there someone out there you could be makin' suffer or are there slim pickin's right now?" @maevebriar

"awww isn't that sweet of you" she smiled warmly at them from the side of the box she was carrying. everyone here was annoyingly nice to one another and overly eager to help whenever they thought they were needed. she'd been in town a month and had already reached her limit of sweet talking small townsfolk, but alas she was stuck here and allies were better than enemies. "it's only a few things for my place to make it feel more cozy"
charismatic and flirtatious were descriptors typically attributed to nashra -- attentive, however, perhaps wasn't. however, she was always watching, always attuned to her surroundings and familiar with what was going on with those around them -- a defense mechanism, ultimately. it's why they're the first to notice when someone nearby needs assistance, and they step towards the other as soon as they notice. "hey, let me help you."

FULL NAME: maeve briar
GENDER: female
PRONOUNS: she/her
AGE: thirty
DOB: june 10th
OCCUPATION: receptionist at pete's garage
RESIDENCE: the town
RESIDENT or VISITOR: visitor
HUNTER or GATHERER: n/a - this may change depending on her stay
TITLE: the mimic
FACECLAIM: jodie comer
she's not long arrived in town - been here for about a month or so
before she was in huntsville, she was a hustler out in vegas. maeve spent her days conning money out of casinos by counting cards and rigging games to give her the advantage and a hefty paycheque.
it was a life of all she'd ever known. her parents were deadbeats and she refused to continue the pattern of being pieces of shit who cared more about their next drink or hit than their own kids. so she went out to work and fended for herself and her brother ever since.
lives in town - the commune doesn't bother her but she finds it a bit weird that they all are willing to live without privacy
she's taken to huntsville like a duck to water and it doesn't look like it phases her at all.
maeve has the incredible ability to expertly adapt to people and her surroundings.
mannerisms, accents, body language, she's not dubbed the mimic for nothing.
maeve can pick up and drop traits like they were meaningless to her - this also extends to people
crisis mode? she's got it covered, relax. chill out.
with her personality it was easy enough for her to secure a job at pete's garage as the receptionist.
she holds her own against the boys at the garage who mess around and tease her, it's all in good jest.
maeve is strong, ballsey and won't back down from a fight if it ever gets to that. a bit emotionally stunted at times but she's able to fake it until she makes it.
her life motto is 'do no wrong, take no shit' the do no wrong part she's still working on.
will add to this as she progresses & i also wanted to fire up something for her
