Australia has been on fire since October. Not enough people are talking about the bushfires in Australia. They’re bigger than the size of Belgium twice over. 23 people have died and 28 are missing. Over 1 million animals have died, ecologists think around 40 native species are extinct or will go extinct as their habitat and populations will never recover from the fires. Over 1000 properties have been destroyed. Half of kangaroo island, the third largest island in Australia, has burnt. Yes literally HALF the island. The Amazon got so much coverage. The Californian bushfires got so much coverage. Half of Australia is on fire for three months and I’ve seen barely anything.

This is not normal. This is hell. And it’s only the first month of summer.

Our government does not care but hopefully people internationally do because Australians are doing all we can.
