You didn’t think that you were what she deserved so you let her go.

You whispered to yourself that it wasn’t meant to be. So you let her go, pushed her away; wanted her to stop caring about you, so you wouldn’t have to consider all that you had given up on so easily.

Time passed. Late nights, you found yourself thinking of her smile yet you still chalked it up to primal desires and still told yourself that you could never be the man she desired. By lying to yourself, you gave yourself all the reasons and excuses you needed to stay safe in your comfort zone. So you let her go in a million different versions of the same sentiment.

You buried everything that once sparked between you and what made you feel alive. Because you still weren’t able to decide if you could actually show her the love you felt she deserved. So instead of fighting for her you let your doubt win and turned the other direction. Deep down, you know you can’t survive because every inch of you longed to be by her side though you already forcefully convinced yourself, through your lies, that you will never be the man that’s right for her.

Suddenly, you felt a tug on your heart you just couldn’t ignore this time. You sensed her. Felt her in you. It wasn’t all about sex even though you knew you could never get enough of her. You let her go many times but she never really left your heart. Because she never showed anyone else the parts of her she so easily exposed to you; for you.
