I don't want this to come off as rude or anything but I feel I need to say this — you guys have GOT to be a little more normal about the PCs. It was a little unsettling to see the way if a PC does something kinda shitty one time I will then see dozens and dozens of posts shitting on the character, wishing a gruesome death upon them, taking satisfaction in their misery and trauma and even FANART depicting the character being killed just for some sort of petty revenge for one Bad character choice. Entirely untagged. I don't think the PCs shouldn't be criticised ever, I just think this circle of sadism over some stupid shit gets a little strange to witness.

I have no idea why the princess reveal just rubs me so wrong and I wish I could voice my thoughts in a way that matters cause everyone seems to love it and praise it and I genuinely cannot get back into the material because of it.

Maybe it’s because a small part of me no matter how childish or stupid or dumb just wanted to see these characters who have always been criticized for being one dimensional and “sending bad messages to children” and being damsels in distress as real realized people with hopes and dreams and ideas beyond the trauma they’ve dealt with.

Yes they’re young, yes they’re naive, but to see these characters without hope, without any sort of belief in their inherent worth as people, to see them twisted into a malevolent force in a world that’s refused to be kind to them…it’s disheartening and depressing and there’s almost no redemptive part of this narrative anymore for me.

And I get that it’s the horror genre but I’d argue that even FHSY—which is widely considered to have been the horror season before neverafter—had a sliver of hope and people we could fucking root for.

I’m tired of seeing NPCs and characters I love turn on each other. It’s what made ACOC exhausting and I genuinely cannot enjoy Neverafter anymore because of it.

It makes sense, of course, due to the current state of their relationship, the circumstances leading to their marriage, and simply the customs of the historical period this is so heavily inspired by, but Amethar and Caramelinda have separate chambers.

They do not share a bed.

I wonder if they ever did, or if they simply did their duty to produce an heir (or two, as the case may be, but a single pregnancy) and did not sleep together in the literal sense.

#my headcanon is that Caramelinda and Amethar shared their wedding night #but afterward she moved into Lazuli’s room so as to always be close to her true love #and Amethar never left his old room #but instead the lord and ladies chambers remain empty #is it true? maybe not but that’s how it’s laid out in my head
