I swear on all that is holy the next person who suggests a Romantasy book to me when I say I’m looking for a good Fantasy book is going to get bitten.

I do not want to read ACOTAR, I don’t want to read Fourth Wing, I don’t care about Zodiac Academy, or The Stars Are Dying.

I want to read a fucking Fantasy book that focuses on world building, and adventure and politics and not who is fucking whomst else. If you remove the sex from the story and you no longer have a story I am not interested.

If I wanted sex with pointy ears I have all of AO3, I want an actual fucking book!

One of my favorite things is modern adaptations that leave people with the same careers they had in the original material, because unless you’re a cop or a doctor that practically never happens.

Irene Adler’s an opera singer. We still have those! They don’t have the same subtext exactly, but nothing is going to because we aren’t the Victorians. She could continue to be an opera singer. I have never seen this happen.

Jonathan Harker can still be in real estate. That’s a job people have. A modern story that still involves Dracula contacting his firm to help him purchase property sounds amazing actually.

concept for a tv show: a cute simple love story between an assistant and a chauffeur or bodyguard or whatever else rich people have and in the background the rich people are having the wildest telenovela level drama that we only catch glimpses of

huge fan of the depth of a good purple but another area that draws me is definitely around aquamarine/turquoise/seafoam. you can not go wrong once the green starts getting just a tinge more blue. a gal could certainly do worse than to pull over there and stay a while

the dutch bike helmet discourse is still so funny. scores of indignant dutch people going on about how they dont need to wear helmets because everybody is used to bike based stuff and knows how to handle themselves, periodically interjected by people who work in emergency rooms in the netherlands talking about how many cases of bike fall related head trauma they see regularly.
