so.. if seneca has a distaste towards most foods, what foods IS he okay eating/what does richardson have to lie about?

also optionally, how would seneca react if he found out richardson was feeding him food that didn't meet his criteria?

well to put it in perspective first.. seneca does not eat junkfood ( candy, soda, chips, things that can be considered disgusting, greasy, materialistic and of low wuality ) BY CHOICE. his distaste stems from his idea of what makes him a pure soul for god, for josafá. it is not that he HATE the way that the food tastes, in fact he craves it above many things but he restrains himself to fit into the idea of what he believes is pure.

that being said, he will usually eat fresh fruit IF HES LUCKY or from places he deems to be of honest hard working intention.. the criteria for that is also arbitrary, you would need to provide specifics of the place. if seneca is aching so much from hunger, he will guiltily resolve to eating food that breaks his criteria with tears running down his face. air filled with whimpers and sobs while he struggles to indulge himself in a basic need.

i feel richardson would have to lie about the contents of the food OR where it came from in order to have seneca eat it. sometimes when he lies, it does not work because of the arbitrary rules seneca has.

if seneca found out he’d be hurt of course and likely angry because he feels his perceived purity is poisoned, but that response also depends on how richardson explains to him WHY he lied to him.

it is likely seneca would rifle through food himself afterwards, or come with richardson to assess what he gets to know what he can eat based on where he got it.

would pasquale smoke cigarettes/"flags"? I assume not but I had a thought of him as this image and my thought process hasn't quite recovered yet

also, what about the other mafia members? does it tend to be a common habit or no?

he does smoke flags, rather regularly. i've tried to make that more notable atleast recently by incorporating it into his base design.

in terms of other mafia members centering my other mafia ocs, remy smokes regularly, cooper does not smoke and only pops a flag in his mouth to look cool and jaque also smokes regularly.

but in general for the rest of the mafia members, it is normal / common for all of them to engage in bad habits ( smoking, alcohol ). it could be a variety of reasons as to why they engage in them but mostly it's because they can and are enabled to.

have seneca and richardson hugged before? I feel it would make sense especially since seneca tends to lean on richardson... but is that too much for either of them???

yes they have hugged before, it is just how it is received, interpreted and initiated by each party is wildly different. it isn't too much for them in a casual setting, but the atmosphere around it is everything.

richardson initiates hugs rather casually, it is meant as a friendly 'how are you' greeting if anything. ritualistic. he is just being nice. it does not mean too much to him and it is handsoff enough at first that seneca is at most taken aback by friendly contact. it's more often that richardson just does side hugs.

seneca initiates hugs, a little odd? he is very slow about it at each step. it's like, he is keyframing the motion. he will raise richardson's hands and arms by the wrists slowly, pausing occasionally as if confirming that richardson is fine with this before wrapping richardson's arms around him. then from there, he just lightly presses the pads of his fingers against richardson's coat, leaning his head back so his cage doesn't touch him. that's what seneca calls a hug or is comfortable in initiating himself.

what does richardson do to help senecas malnourishment? does he try to do anything or does he just let seneca be? I imagine it would be incredibly difficult to do anything

you would be right, it is incredibly difficult to do anything but it doesn't necessarily stop him from trying.

it wasn't recognized immediately that seneca is really malnourished, but given closer interaction and observation, his 'distaste' for certain food to a degree that it seemed like he never ate anything became more apparent. i think with all the kurfuffle that seneca brings in his religious warbling, it still doesn't hide that he is a paxfolk and that there are certain needs to be met.

being unwilling to eat even a little treat like a candy bar, being more than just picky to a point of weeping when he NEEDS to eat something he feels makes him unworthy. i think, at a point, richardson would need to LIE to seneca about the contents of the food being given to him so he will eat it.

it's a buried trouble in his mind that he must not present himself as a slob, that he is better than what being a paxfolk would entail in his eyes of his distorted vision of josafa's demand of him.

i'll say, that in richardson's care, he wouldn't be as worse off as he would be alone. it is a slow process.

when seneca and richardson get into their passionate conversations, does seneca let his guard down? and how much?

how do i put it.. i think in some interpretation he DOES let his guard down. it is opening his mind to discussion outside of his self-induced echo chamber so i feel, in doing that, he NEEDS to let his guard down.

although, i wouldn't say he lets it all the way down. he is, a very hurt person and there are times when these passionate discussions while fruitful can stress him out. it is a back and forths thing. lower your guard to consider what is said but it stings sometimes and raise it once again, it is chipping away even if unintentionally by richardson.

where does richardson put all his newfound gifts? especially the paintings... does he hang them up please tell me he does that'd be so cute

i feel that initially, richardson would consider some more neutral observational pieces to be decoration for some huts. seneca is a very talented artist especially in regards to painting, so in that sense.. i feel richardson would use it to decorate in the way that most inns have painting decor.

but.. i think some pieces he would absolutely reserve to keep in his own home. there are definitely some pieces he can recognize are more emotionally charged towards him.

so .. he does hang them up but he picks and chooses which ones are seen by guests and which ones are reserved between him and seneca.

regardless, it doesnt bother seneca the way in which they are used, it is enough for him to be appreciated.

VERY thankful that the oc x canon has hit magiturge again. new delightful relationship to look forward to. when you figure out more headcanons/thoughts about them please tell us I am so curious they seem like they'd be such a good dynamic

in terms of interaction, after seneca has settled into being less skittish and more amicable, i feel that often times over some rather mundane or menial topics, either parties can go onto long winded rambling about something that is only vaguely related. in a sense, they can get stuck in a feedback loop of senseless chatter between each other.

for example, richardson’s observed tendency to bring up things he found online like trivia about the owl or the spine or his odd bringing up of the dreamsphere’s shape when talked to about a circular rug of all things.

what i am saying is.. i think seneca and richardson can end up in nonsense talks that can be very passionate or dismissive.

seneca (6’2”) is slightly taller than richardson (5’10”) but is much frailer than richardson due to poor nutrition and.. bad habits.

while it can definitely be interpreted as affectionate and in most cases, it is, seneca’s tends to lean against richardson in a lot of close interactions to keep himself steady as he is often used to changing positions a lot. seneca is accustomed to standing into crouching, into laying down into scrabbling to run away. he does not often get to stay still unless he absolutely has to stay still ( exhaustion or hiding ) and those moments are often the most tiring.

even as seneca leans against richardson, his cage provides a level of discomfort he cannot ward off. his cage is highly important to him in such a way that would put him in an insanely vulnerable mental state if it were to be destroyed or removed from him entirely.

however there are exceptions where seneca can .. say.. make a door to his cage that he can open.

..seneca has a buried desire to put his head up against richardson’s head, a proper contact that isn’t stifled by the rattling of his cage.

he wants to feel his hair on his face, bare. he wants to feel the curvature of his nose, and his brow, and whatever wrinkle there is against his own. he doesn’t necessarily desire to kiss, but to feel the warmth of someone’s skin, someone’s liveliness, someone’s.. life against his.

that desire makes him feel so guilty about himself, and in his twisted faith. in a way, he feels hurt, not by a pinpointed someone’s fault.

even in more odd but still relatively safe distanced physical interaction, seneca delegates himself to stand a little distance away when the physical contact is the focus of the activity. seneca likes to hold richardson’s hande, and feels the creases in his gloves, pressing into the joints carefully with a strong focus.

for richardson, i feel seneca’s behavior like this can be chalked up to him being a disturbed religious fanatic that has been starved of contact but it will definitely take time that seneca’s strange relationship to contact and these little interactions is not solely because of that. it’s reverence.

seneca craves a positive contact so badly, even if he does not consciously vocalize it, all other languages spoken vouch for this desire.

he eventually becomes a permanent resident of richardson’s marshland inn.

richardson’s feelings to seneca are more vague, as richardson had been in a relationship with someone else prior who was.. more sensative. i feel he would recognize his feelings as they come around but not act on them more openly given seneca’s emotional state and behavior. ..ah, it’s again something that agonizes for awhile. but it is my favorite thing to write.

i think, richardson would pick up on seneca’s affections more quickly than seneca himself. it was possible to pass off gifts as gratitude for his hospitality but the way in which seneca begins to present each gift and piece more passionately, with more thought and care that went beyond just gratitude for shelter.. he was bound to pick up on it.
