I remember dreading the bad grades but yes you just took them because you fucked up.
The problem with AI is that it is an easy short term solution. Being a student at the moment it is just so easy to dump your assessment in an AI and tell it to tell you what you need to do, how to do it and possibly give you a completely worked out example. If you are studying something and a deadline, you don’t like doing. You are gonna use the easy and quick option.
This is not a “students are lazy” problem. This is a “student found an easy way to work through the onslaught of never ending assignments but it is detrimental to their learning” problem. Ai is a to good all in one solution to feeling overwhelmed by work that needs to be done.
"what did students do before chatgpt?" well one time i forgot i had a history essay due at my 10am class the morning of so over the course of my 30 minute bus ride to school i awkwardly used by backpack as a desk, sped wrote the essay, and got an A on it.
six months later i re-read the essay prior to the final exam, went 'ohhhh yeah i remember this', got a question on that topic, and aced it.
point being that actually doing the work is how you learn the material and internalize it. ChatGPT can give you a short cut but you won't build you the the muscles.

when I was younger I didn’t understand why “may you live in interesting times” was considered a curse in ancient greece.
I get it now.

BIG NEWS
ALRIGHT SO
me and a friend have been working on writing all the questions asked on the Overly Sarcastic Podcast, where Red and Blue of Overly Sarcastic Productions talk a bit about things from their past two videos and then do a Q&A from listeners through their Discord server!
AND WE'VE GOT IT TO A POSTABLE STATE NOW

If you're not in the Discord Server and listen to the OSPod, you can now view a list of questions that have been asked over the course of its existence!
The first four episodes' Q&A sections are fully transcribed, so you're able to read Red and Blue's answers without listening to those episodes, but every episode after that, we just wrote the questions themselves.
Me and Shadow (the person who started this glorious project) are still working on getting timestamps of when the questions are asked and detailing who asked them on every question, but we've got most of 'em right now!

btw the katy perry/bezos' girlfriend/other four irrelevant billionaires 10 minute space stunt was not the first all female expedition no matter how much they try to market it as such. the first all female mission was in 1963 with soviet cosmonauts Valentina Tereshkova, Irina Solovyova and Valentina Ponomaryova - all three of which were working class and had to pass incredibly hard exams to be chosen from 400 potential candidates. just in case we started falling for the propaganda machine again

hey, i heard that adhd medication causes anxiety. what's your experience with that? i have adhd and while not on a psychiatric level i experience anxiety too. so im a little skeptical about using meds...
I don't know, my personal experience with anxiety is of the "went so deep into the madness that I came out sane on the other side" sort. Instead of being scared of being in the wrong place and doing everything wrong, I accepted the assumption that I am always in the wrong place and doing everything wrong, but that it's everyone else's problem until someone has the balls to stop me.
If I'm sitting in a crowded room where everyone secretly hates me but nobody's brave enough to actually say it out loud, then I'm the most powerful person in the room. So either people don't hate me at all, or they fear confronting me about it. And that's their problem, not mine.

People used to comment on web comics.
People used to comment on fanfiction.
People used to comment on fanart.
People used to comment on OCs.
I hate "content" culture.
I hate "consuming content" and scrolling immediately to the next thing.
People used to be excited about the art that other people created.
People used to want to share that excitement with creators.
I hate this future.
