Sip âN Dip
A Sip âN Dip event will be taking place at Marioâs Fishbowl today, Wednesday, April 18. The activity is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and end at 9 p.m., and will be held at their Suncrest location at 3117 University Avenue.Â
Sip âN Dip is an event where people partake in painting while drinking wine. The organization has had many successful events at locations all across the Morgantown area. It costs $30 to join the party, but all of the materials needed to paint are included in the ticket price.Â
The Sip âN Dip organization has a few more events planned for the next couple of weeks, including a painting party at Mountain State Brewing Company on Wednesday, April 25 and a fundraiser for the Tucker County 4H Club on Saturday, April 21.
This organization offers a fun and alternative activity for people to participate in. While relaxing and drinking some wine, participants get to channel their creative energies and make beautiful pieces of art to take home with them. These parties have been a great success in the area.Â

University art museum unveils not one, but two new exhibits!
West Virginia University offers many cool extra curricular organizations and activities, and one of those is an art museum filled with awesome exhibits that rotate every few months. At the beginning of March two new exhibits were opened to the public--both incorporating ceramic art.Â
The first exhibit, âForm and Balance: Ceramics from the Collectionâ, is one that features appealing functional pieces as well as some contemporary non-functional pieces. The pieces in this exhibit are highlights from the museums diverse arts collection. The second exhibit, âFlowing Beyond Heaven and Earthâ, features pieces of Chinese ceramic art that incorporate both traditional and contemporary influences. Both exhibits were organized by curators at the art museum.
If these exhibits have you feeling creative, head over to the craft center located in the basement of Braxton Tower. The university offers a recreational craft center to students, faculty, alumni, and families for little to no cost. Located in the residential complex, the organization has crafts ranging from tie-dying to glass staining. The craft centerâs activity that is the biggest hit, however, is ceramics!
The craft center administrator offers two hour long pottery classes week-to-week and aside from that the center is open from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. It is also open from noon to 6 p.m. on Fridays. There is no cost to enter the craft center or participate in a class, but a small material fee does apply.
The craft center is a good way to relieve stress or simply go to channel creativity into beautiful artwork. A lot of people donât know it exists because of its location, but this organization is a hidden gem that you donât want to miss out on utilizing! Give them a call at 304-293-3614 or shoot them an email at [email protected]. They would love to work with you!

Art in Morgantown
Bustling with students and townies alike, Morgantown is located along the banks of the Monongahela River in North-Central West Virginia and is home to West Virginia University.Â
Morgantown offers a wide array of opportunities for students, as well as people seeking professional jobs and places to settle down. Not only does the university bring an amazing energy to the town and itâs residents, but it brings an art museum, arboretum, botanical gardens, and many creative minds willing to put forth effort and show their talents to further the community, as well as themselves. Â
In this blog I will explore local artists and their many different mediums. Morgantown has a lot to offer artistically, as there are three music venues downtown. Besides music, there are many places that creative minds can go to paint, draw, sculpt, blow and stain glass, etc.Â
Aside from students and local artists creating for themselves and the community, the university often asks students to help paint murals and such to beautify the school and showcase student talent.
I am excited to seek out and speak with the artists of this wonderful West Virginia town. Big talent often comes from small places. Â
