I watched Barbarian ngl i have thoughts
ok i was doing my nails and wanted to watch a movie and i saw a mommy milkers joke related to this movie so legally i had to watch it. ngl it surprised me how much i cried over the juxtapositions in the movie with the lady in the basement and her “father”, also the visual of the house and the neighboring area. It shocked me how much the nature vs nurture theme wasn’t as obvious in the beginning but when the ending came around, i maybe started crying over how the messed up situation was made horrible by the AJ guy but the lady only had (maybe misguided) love and felt the need to protect. the fact that she learned this only by watching her mothers/relatives/idk and the video her ”father” got created the int2wined melody of the complexities of humans and almost femininity in general and the different ways it is perceived by people. n e ways i loved it and she deserved better in general not just the lady.

Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy being like, "I am 100% committed to respecting your 'no', but I heard you wouldn't promise my aunt not to marry me so I had to come and check just one (1) more time."

I interpret the ending of Baby Reindeer as a choice that Donny — and, ultimately, everyone — has to make.
You either have to heal or become Martha.

Whenever I'm reminded of High Fidelity, I get pissed off again about it being cancelled after just one season. It was so good and it had the potential to be amazing! Like the three core friends had great chemistry. It had a queer black woman as the main character along side her friends/employees, a big black woman and a queer white man (yes I'm pointing this out 'cause it's such a beautiful and diverse group of people & characters, and it probably would've expended even more later on). They worked at a record store and complained about their lives and judged everyone's (including each other's) taste in music... Robyn Brooks was one fucked up loser girl, which we don't get to see too often (yk since women can't do shit and fuck up and self-destruct 'cause that makes them "unsympathetic"...) *tired gay sigh*

the entire internet focussing on ‘who the real Martha is’, instead of the identity of the powerful writer who groomed and r*ped donny just tells you what you need to know about the state of our society.
