Dorian cannot say how common it is he sees the Inquisitor without another around. He does spot her occasionally from his corner in the library, be it over the railing or through the window. Catching her head of red hair while in the gardens himself or on his way to coax another game of chess from Cullen but he cannot think of the last moment he saw her simply by her lonesome. It seems the work never ends, Dorian does not envy her.

Still, it begs the thought... how does she find time to herself and how is she handling it all? A curiosity born of concern, not that he would admit as much.

"Tiring business this." He's caught her, whether coming or going, without some soldier or spy. Tone carries his usual nonchalance. "Saving the world, I mean. You make it look effortless, helping people, solving all our little problems. Making all those tough decisions. It's admirable, really." His hands come together before him, rolling the ring on his index finger briefly.

"Are you... alright?"

pre inquisition, be it the two years spent roaming the imperium after having run from home or earlier with his tutoring under alexius. ( or even the short time he spent learning in nevarra )

anything having to do with the shadow dragons. literally anything. be it someone coming to dorian for information or he personally helping out. ( this is more for veilguard stuff but can happen after the lucerni go underground with mae ).

to tie into the point above but also be inspired by luck in the gardens but dorian hearing rumors of particularly nasty monster/demons/cultists in the depths of minrathous and putting up bounties. he may also come to help out.

( either of those two above could also allow for dorian to have met neve or a shadow dragon rook previous to vg )

It's unfortunate that Dorian finds himself missing an adventure occasionally, not that he doesn't have his hands full now but arguing with blowhard Magisters day in and day out was only so entertaining. The south really did have it's charm... Such sentimentality he would have balked at it in his youth. He's still not as syrupy nor nothing so drastic as waxing poetry each night but reminiscing on occasion, with a glass of wine preferably, suited him just fine. Dorian finds such entertainment in regaling tales with his old friend, dragged with him back home.

Minrathous certainly would not be the same without him at his side.

Dorian watches Cullen with a teasing smile. A tough and tired man that he'd love to soften the edges of-- and he does, doesn't he? At least Dorian thinks so. Cullen wouldn't have put up with him this long if he didn't appreciate Dorian's company, right? "It takes little effort on my part, you know? You're as easy to read and rile as you are when playing a game of wicked grace."

here is the largest organ, seemingly unimportant and forgotten in favour of larger meatier cuts of flesh, but it is living and breathing but wholly on the outside. you feel everything so much all the time. you wear everything on the outside, nothing about you is restrained or held back, authentic and truthful, even to a fault, even revealing all the ugly parts you can’t cover. the blows and injuries you take cannot be hidden, so be cautious. always remember scars do not heal, they can only fade.

hands + feet .

Dorian's palms are wide, flat, with knuckles that lean towards larger. His fingers are much the same, wide thick and somewhere between medium to short length. His nails are kept short and neat and clean. His palms are smooth with very little callouses despite the years spent kicking it + staff usage. Once back in Minrathous 100% he keeps them painted. He wears a number of rings across both hands- typically the thumb, pinky and ring finger on his right hand and his thumb, index and a full finger cuff on his middle finger of his left hand.

Much like his hands, Dorian's feet are wide with low arches and short thick toes. There is a light dusting of hair over the top of his feet. Once again nails are kept short, neat and clean. The soles of his feet do have callouses.

Dorian's hair is soft and well taken care of. He bathes on the regular, especially once he's back in Minrathous. It's a little harder in Haven and Skyhold. He uses a number of soaps and oils to soften his skin and to make himself smell good. His facial hair gets the same treatment and is kept carefully trimmed, neat and styled. Image is a big part of how Dorian presents himself, regardless if he says so or not. He has a specific fashion, leagues ahead of those in Tevinter :)

Worthy to note that when he gets older there is not only the line of grey in just his hair, it is sprinkled in the shadow around his jawline and in his mustache and beard. The beauty mark below his eye is one of two on his face, the other being above the other eye at his temple, near his hairline.

Dorian's teeth are perfect, as he says so himself.

torso + waist + legs.

His torso is proportionate to his legs, again, thicker and a bit on the stockier side. He is well defined with a broader set of shoulders. There's no hair to be found on his chest, preferring to keep clean shaven. There's no drastic V to his waist, thinning only a bit to a pair of sturdy hips. His thighs match, being thicker and defined, due to the excessive amount of traveling he's done.

The hair on his legs is dark, fading to a lighter brown that blends in with his skin tone up on his thighs. In general Dorian isn't too hairy, especially during his younger years during DAI + Trespasser. Most of the routine for his washing is carried into his adulthood with only a few changes as he ages.

Another beauty mark sits behind his left knee.

A few Dorian things that I adore. . .

He is so incredibly aware of his own image. The whole argument he has with the Inquisitor about how it looks if they do favors for him. We already know that Dorian plays off how others talk about him or how they think about him / Tevinter, he only becomes concerned when another party is involved and on their behalf. He appreciates people asking after him but is quick to brush off their concern.

He cares about the character of a person and may have one or two comments to make on choices but ultimately lets people be. No true judging based off appearances, just occasionally on gossip lol. He does have assumptions based off world knowledge... or clothes but again, no true judgment of person or character. ( Unless, of course, you're an evil cult bent on destroying the world and such. )

His love of his countrymen and hope that things can change. Tevinter can be better. Him being spurred into action by both the Inquisitor and Solas' comments / conversation. That he takes the questioning and prodding to heart for the better.

Oh he cares, he cares sooo much and so deeply but he's been scorned so much so he hides it all under sass, catty remarks, sarcasm and the occasional insult. He keeps things light and flippant because that's what he's learned as a defense mechanism and if you can see him and know him between all that and still want to stick around. . . ( he's a yearner, a romantic. you just have to unlock seven thousand doors to his heart first. )

Literally helped invent time travel?? he's incredibly smart. Can assume he's entertained at the thought of an impossible puzzle, as long as he keeps interest.

( When romanced ) One of his comments when you say you want to spend time together is how he and Inky should pretend to gossip about Cassandra like. . . that's so nasty of him. Drama lover 100%.

Almost punched a Magister in Veilguard or at least the time between Inquisition and Veilguard lmao.
