etienne i becomes emperor in 7:71 storm
he struggles to have kids for nearly two decades so he sets aside his wife and marries a nevarran princess
the nevarran princess doesn’t give him any kids either so he puts her in a cloister and marries his mistress yvette. this is the basis for all future nevarra-orlais beef because even like fifty years later the nevarrans are still mad. (justified. apparently they tried to send a war party to reclaim the princess so they weren’t even allowed to have her back??)
yvette finally gives him some kids. twin boys, reville & gratien, born in 7:99. the chantry names the next age the blessed age literally because they’re so fucking excited abt these kids. if i was nevarran i would begin killing
