Ettumanoor Mahadeva temple Kottayam

Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple, located in Kottayam district, is famous for its murals. The most famous of these beingthe painting of Nataraja (depiction of Lord Shiva as the cosmic dancer) in the gopuram (ornate temple tower). The temple is also renowned for the annual Ezharaponnana  (the seven-and-a-half elephants finished in gold) EzhunallathuThe temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. According to legend, an Asura called Khara got three Shivalingas from Lord Shiva himself. He took them with him to Kerala, holding one by his teeth and one each in his right and left hand. While the Lingam held by his teeth was consecrated in Kaduthuruthi, the one held in his right hand was consecrated in Vaikom ( Vaikom Mahadeva Temple) and the one held in his left hand was consecrated in Ettumanoor.

Sree Poornathrayeesa Temple -Kerala Kochi

Sree Poornathrayeesa Temple is located at Thrippunithura southeast of Ernakulam district, Sree Poornathrayeesa Temple is one of the eminent temples in Kerala. The presiding deity of this temple is Maha Vishnu, which is worshipped in the form of Santhanagopala Murthy. Here, Santhanagopalamoorthy means "savior of Infants" and the Lord Vishnu is found here in a sitting posture under the shade of five caps of Anantha. It's a unique posture which is completely different from other Vishnu temples where the Lord is usually found in a recumbent posture on the divine serpent. The rear side of Sreekovil has a small window from where pilgrims can get a close look at the deity of Santhana Gopala Moorthy or Sree Poornathrayeesa Temple.

Chottanikkara Devi Temple

The chottanikkara Devi Temple is the famous tempele kerala . A temple situated in the suburbs of Kochi, that dates back to the 10th century CE, is the famed Chottanikkara Bhagavathy Temple. This is one of the most popular pilgrim centres in Kerala. The deity is believed to possess the power to cure mental illness.

The deity is known as Rajarajeswari (Mother Goddess) and is worshipped here in three forms - Goddess Saraswathy in the morning, Goddess Lakshmi at noon and Goddess Durga in the evening.

SRI DATTA ANJANEYA TEMPLE

The magnificent banks of river Periyar have been a locale for many rare temples for years. Sri Dattanjaneya Temple in Ernakulam District near Aluva town is one amongst them. The main deity, Lord Siddharaja Dattathreya, bearing Conch, Wheel, Damaru, Trident and Kamandalu was consecrated on March 18, 1991 by Sri Sri Sri Ganapathy Sachidananda Swamiji of the Avdhooda Datta Peetta. Sri Mahaganapathy was also enshrined as a sub deity together with. Lord Dattathreya endowed with 3 heads, 6 eyes and 6 hands out of one is showering blessing of Bhagawan all the time. Later on 13-12-1999, the temple was empowered by the unique enshrinement and presence of Lord Anjaneya Bhagawan. After this Anjaneya prathishta, the temple began to be well known as Dattanjaneya Temple. And, the other two prominent prathishtas are Nagadevathas and Navagrahas. AMEDA TEMPLE

Ameda Temple is one of the famous snake-adoring temples in Kerala, located on the banks of Vembanad Lake, on the Tripunithura-Vaikom route, 20 km south of Ernakulam. The temple is unique in its status as an abode of snake idols brought from abandoned groves across Kerala. Most of the villages have Sarpa Kavu, where idols of snakes are consecrated below the Banyan trees of villages. One of the significant temples dedicated to Naga Raja and Naga Yakshi is located in Ameda temple, 10 km from Thirupunithura on the Ernakulam-Vaikom road.

THRIKKAKARA VAMANAMOORTHY TEMPLE

Thrikkakara Vamanamoorthy Temple is positioned in Thrikkakara, near Cochin district in the state of Kerala, India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vamana, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The temple is under the administration of the Travancore Devaswom Board. The Bhagavata Purana describes that Lord Vishnu descended as the Vamana avatar to restore the authority of Indra, the King of the heaven, as it had been taken by Mahabali, an asura. Bali was the grandson of Prahlada, the renowned Vishnu devotee. King Mahabali was generous and engaged in severe austerities and penance and won the praise of the world. Vamana, in the guise of a Brahmin, carrying a wooden umbrella, went to the king to request three paces of land. Mahabali consented, against the warning of his guru. Vamana then revealed his identity and enlarged to gigantic proportions to stride over the three worlds. He stepped from heaven to earth with the first step. King Mahabali, unable to fulfil his promise, offered his head for his third step. Vamana then placed his foot and gave the king immortality for his humility. In giant form, Vamana is known as Trivikrama.

ERNAKULATHAPPAN TEMPLE

Ernakulam Shiva Temple, also known as Ernakulathappan Temple is one of the major temples of Kerala, located in the heart of Ernakulam, the downtown area of the city of Kochi. The temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is considered as the city temple, with the presiding deity as the protector of the city, as per local Hindu faiths and traditions. As per the common practice in Kerala, the deity is reverently called Eranakulathappan, which means Lord of Eranakulam. The temple is located within the Durbar Hall Ground. The temple history itself has a deep association with the history of the city and was one of the 7 royal temples of Kochi Maharajas.

ALWAYE MANAPPURAM SRI MAHADEVA TEMPLE

The Alwaye Manappuram Mahadeva Temple was situated on the banks between the Mangalpuja and Periyar rivers. This Temple has a Shiva Lingam, which is not enshrined in Srikovil. Swayambhu Shivalinga was installed by Parasurama and worshipped by Sri Rama. It appears to rise from the river bank.

There is no permanent structure on the shore. A temporary structure had been placed around the granite enclosure of the Shivalingam with a front and back wooden door using wooden pillars. A thatched roof is kept during the non-monsoon season. The idol gets submerged during monsoons. For this, a representative idol or tambu is kept, which carries the transferred powers of the idol.

There are many legends related to this Temple. Following the introduction of the linga, Parasurama built a temple here, but a flood destroyed it. Lord Shiva revealed to him that there would be no temple construction at that place as there was no need for temple construction confirming the Linga.
