Mai mused as she followed the God to a table. Maybe for the best, so she could lean on something other than a tall man. "Yes~!" she answered, only when saying the word, she realized that didn't exactly answer the question. "I paint with synesthesia- the color thing," she nods, "but I do other stuff as well! I don't sculpt, though, but I do pottery."
The young Celt was about to list all the forms of art she had done, and tried, and still partook in, but soon realized it was probably quicker to recite a list of things she couldn't - or simply just didn't - do, yet.
"I don't make music, or dance, either," she said dreamily, "oh! Nor do I smith or forge~" The artist giggled a bit, then pouted when Hephaestus cut her off of drinks.
"But wine is so yummy! I'm not that drunk," she said, before accepting the glass of water anyway.
"Wooow, that's so interesting," Mai responded in genuine amazement - or was she just more excitable with the alcohol in her system - finding the contrast between the god's profession and his voice. "Your voice," she clarified with a nod, "is teal."
She swayed a bit - again, not sure if the alcohol or the general vibes at the gala - on the rhythm of the songs, surving the endless waves of colors around her.
"Hm... He does have that aura about him, doesn't he?" Mai remarked thoughtfully. Her voice was dreamy, almost absent-minded. "It's a pleasure to meet you too, Hephaestus. And don't worry, your secret is safe with me. I won't say a word to Arawn," she assured him, returning his laughter with a warm smile

It was a nice day outside, and though the young bee was working, that didn't bother her at all. She loved to see the smiling faces come in and out, enjoying their days out and about - the colors she sees are much prettier that way. On top of that, Mai had only an hour left on her shift, so soon she'd be able to enjoy the sun like everyone else.
The demigoddess cleared a table when she saw the familiar light blue coming from the sound of the chime at the café's door, which let through the rainbow of sound of the busling outside. She didn't look up, however, as the door opened and closed many times a day, letting in all kinds of colors and sounds, making her day even more enjoyable. Only when she heard a unique yet familiar blend of sienna, deep purple and safron, did the young woman jump in excitement. She looked up, her eyes meeting those of the newest member to her beehive.
"Oh my gosh hi! How've you been!" the Celt beamed, "actually! I'm off in like... an hour? Why?"
Things That Bloom 🌿 Mai
{{ Just because I enjoy their friendship and its normality! For the dear @maibeemp }}

It’s a good day for it.
From the art supplies she has Kiki gathers her sketchbook and pencils and packs them into the tote bag she takes with her. Today she might draw just a little bit if she has some time but her aim is to actually show someone something that she’s already created. Out the door and down the road she walks, stopping at her car only to check her reflection in it for a few seconds. Her hair is up in a giant lazy curly bun, affixed with small golden fastens that hug around thicker braids that intermix with her curls and match themselves back to the golden jewelry that she wears. Around her neck is a pendant of the sun that shines in its light as she makes her way down the road.
Clinging to her is a certain joy that resides mostly in her smile that she offers to those she passes. Today will be the day that she gives her friend Mai from the little shop she likes a small gift. After a pleasant walk Kiki is strolling into the entrance of the business and her eyes search for the familiar face of her newer friend. Spotting her sorting something on a table, Kiki beelines for her.
“Hey!” She greets brightly. “You working long today?”

Mai chuckled at Davina's playful protest, enjoying the lighthearted banter between them. "Oh, I have no doubt about your kindness, Davi~. And your honesty shines through as well," she replied with a warm smile.
"Make yourself at home, love, play with Cactus and Lily. Make sure Mallow doesn't scare Cactus, tho!" the young demigoddess warned. Nothing would be worse than a new pup covered in spikes.
"I have to check on my cookies~" Mai beamed, radiating positive energy. "Can I get you something to drink?" As Davina settled in, the Celt made her way to the kitchen to do as promised; making sure the baked goods didn't burn.
Mai's smile widened as she listened to Davina's excited ramble about Mallow's personality. She chuckled at the mention of chaos energy. "Chaos energy can be a handful, but it definitely makes things more exciting!" she agreed wholeheartedly.
She listened to Davina's thoughts about Lily, nodding. "Animals do have a way of sensing things. Lily is a smart cat, and I'm glad she's getting along with Cactus, and I'm sure she will bloomin' love Mallow. I mean, look at him! It's always wonderful when pets can coexist peacefully."
As Mallow licked her hand, Mai giggled, looking at the little pup affectionately. "Oh, you're just saying that! You're too kind, Davi~."

Spring has started, which was evident by the weather. It was gorgeous outside and luckily, it was Mai's day off. The young demigoddess had packed some paints and brushes and made sure her little spikey rascal hadn't crawled into her bag as she left her apartment.
The park was one of her favorite places to be on a day off. Watching people walking their dogs, or sitting quietly to read as the demigoddess painted whatever came to mind, was one of her favorite pastimes.
Mai had been painting for a bit, abstract shapes in the colors of the sound of the leaves rustling, birds chirping, children's laughter and dogs barking...
... and one girl cry out for Babu, whoever that was.
The artist looked up to see where the sound came from, and right when she did, a girl walked right up to her.
"Oh no! You lost your pup?" Mai asked, putting her brush down. She looked at the picture on the girl's phone. "I haven't seen him, but I wanna help look!" The young artist quickly threw her supplies in her bag and got up from the bench she sat on.
Lost Pup!
open starter, lets find Babu!
Life had been sort of uneventful, aside from the new people Minry had met recently. So on that particular day where work was not something she had to concern herself with, Minry decided to savor her tranquility by visiting the park with Babu. The Chow Chow was growing fast so longer walks were a must to make sure the pup had his energy drained to sleep better.
The toy of choice was the classic tennis ball, but this one was red. Something simple but effective and colored oddly enough to stand out. Minry threw it once more, before she'd quickly check the latest notifications on her phone. "Hey hey, I know you're not tired yet." She said, noticing Babu was not her feet yet. Minry raised her head, but her eyes couldn't find Babu. A sense of unease crept over Minry, her heart beginning to race.
"Babu?" She called, confusion taking over but quickly it turned into legitimate worry. There weren't many other people around and not close enough so Babu would approach playfully. "Babie?" Minry called louder for an alternative version of the dog's name.
Minry's ears started to ring, with the affliction of the situation. Central Park was safe, but still surrounded by streets roads with cars. Walking towards the direction she threw the ball, even the dog's toy was nowhere to be found. Frantic, Minry walked towards the nearest person, but he hesitated for a moment, her hands trembling, before mustering the courage to speak.
"Excuse me," Minry began, her voice shaking with emotion. "I-I'm sorry to bother you, but have you seen a medium white Chow Chow dog? His name is Babu, pastel pink collar and probably carrying a red tennis ball in his mouth." She's fast to reach for her phone and show a picture of the pup. "I looked at my phone for a second…" Her eyes started to tear up and Minry would look around nervously.

The Celtic demigoddess could no longer deny that the alcohol had anything to do with her lack of balance. She was clumsy when sober, true, and if she didn't focus on the room she was in, she could get lost in the colors surrounding her even without a drop of alcohol. But never did a room start spinning, or people appear double.
But she did her best not to fall over, and that was all that mattered. Right?
"Thank you," Mai responded to the God's warning, leaning onto his arm to steady herself. The colors - now changed to shades of yellows - danced around the young demigoddess, making it harder and harder to focus on the physical realm.
"It's mostly yellow now. I can see some oranges and even some soft greens," the young woman answered. "Mhm! I make art with it~ The color thing~"

After hearing what Cactus apparently told Sun, Mai thought a bit about all the times the little critter escaped. A tiny gasp escaped her lips as the pieces all fell in their places. It all made sense now.
"In almost all my friendships, the ice breaker has been Cactus! Wether it being me frantically searching for him in a store or people pointing at him, calling him cute," the young demigoddess explained, her mind blown a bit. "And he sure is cute! But also very silly!"
The Celt lifted her pet to look into his beady little eyes as she spoke to him gently and with a slight pout. "What if I can't find you in the store? Or someone steps on you? I'd be so bloomin' sad if something happens to you!"
She looked at her newly found friend, her pout turned into a soft smile. "I'd love to be your friend! Whatcha think, Cactus?"
The tiny hedgehog squealed in approval.
"Oh I'm sure they do care! I never said they didn't... or that wasn't my intention," Mai said quickly, blushing a bit.
The demigoddess tilted her head as the other spoke to her beloved pet - her friend - admiring how he talked to her companion like an equal.
Cactus sniffed the air and then made a series of adorable snuffling sounds. The tiny creature looked at Sun with his small black eyes, seemingly thoughtful. As Sundrop spoke, Cactus wiggled his tiny nose and then gave a few little squeaky sounds, almost as if in agreement. He then settled comfortably in Mai's hands, seemingly content with the attention he was receiving.
"He seems to like you," Mai beamed, then patiently waited for the translation.

"It's wonderful that Pudding has taken a liking to him too. Looks like you've got a harmonious animal kingdom going on here," Mai said with a chuckle, enjoying the playful energy radiating from the little canine.
"Kind of like my Cactus and Lily! Though I didn't really expect them to get along as well as they do," Mai pondered, "I thought Lily would've been scared of the spikes, you know?"
The demigoddess giggled as the little pom started licking her hand. "Mallow seems to like me, too!"

Mai's eyes lit up with delight as she entered Arawn's office, and the sight of the presents brought a warm smile to her face. The demigoddess couldn't wait a second longer to unwrap the gifts and made a b-line straight to them to attack the colorful wrapping. She squealed as the gifts were revealed, admiring the bee-shaped squishmallow with sheer joy evident in her eyes.
"Oh, they're bloomin' wonderful!" she exclaimed, genuinely touched by the thoughtful gifts. "Thank you so much, Arawn. I'm sure Cactus and Tili will love the new pet beds, and the squishmallow is adorable!"
She moved closer to inspect the gifts, her fingers gently grazing the squishmallow's soft surface. "Making a new pot together sounds like a fantastic idea! I'd love to teach you something I love to do! And bond along the way~."
Gratitude shone in her eyes as she looked at her uncle. "You're so kind, Arawn. Thank you for making me and my pets feel so welcome." She hopped back towards her uncle, locking him in a tight embrace.
Mai's eyes sparkled with delight at Arawn's words. The mental image of the succulent slowly outgrowing its ghost planter brought a warm smile to her face. It meant he was taking good care of the halloween present. "I'm so bloomin' glad! Do you want me to make you a new planter for it?"
As Mai followed Arawn into the main building, she couldn't help but smile at his affectionate nickname for her. She felt grateful for their close bond as family. Something truly important to her.
"You have a present for me too? That's so bloomin' sweet!" Mai exclaimed, her curiosity piqued. Her mind was buzzing with anticipation. The prospect of another thoughtful gift from her uncle filled her with joy.

Mai had been looking forward to this visit. The sweet exchange of texts with Taavi had left her genuinely excited to spend time with him. She had dressed comfortably yet stylishly, carrying a small carrier in her hands, the soft coos and rustles coming from it adding to her anticipation. "We're going on an adventure, Cactus!" she reassured her spikey pet.
As Taavi opened the door, his radiant smile made her feel instantly at ease. The demigoddess took a moment to appreciate the wonderful aroma that greeted her, a medley of tempting scents that promised delightful treats.
Mai stepped inside with a warm smile, feeling the positive energy that Taavi exuded. She nodded, holding up the carrier.
"Yes, it's Cactus! He's very curious and maybe a little nervous. I'm excited to see what you've prepared. Your place looks so cozy and inviting!" She admired the setup and the effort Taavi had put into making everything accommodating for the both of them.
As she set the carrier down gently, Cactus made a curious chirping sound, seemingly aware that something exciting was happening. Mai chuckled, "I told you we weren't going to the vet~! Thank you for having us, Taavi. I'm sure we're in for a delightful time!"

continuation from here
A few days had passed since Mai’s visit at the bakery and, since then, Taavi had spent almost all of his free moments searching and trying recipes for Cactus. He had made his own peanut butter so it wouldn’t be salty (it didn’t stop Dao to finish the jar though). He was used to bake gluten-free or vegan doughs so it would make everything easier.
After a few exchange of texts with Mai, they had decided to meet at Taavi’s place on his day off so he had happily prepared some chocolate and vanilla éclairs and mini-sandwiches. She had promised to bring Cactus too so bowls of fruits and water were ready for the little creature too. The baker couldn’t wait to receive his guests and spend a lovely afternoon with them.
He didn’t know Mai much yet but she had been so sweet with him that he couldn’t help but wish they could become good friends.
It was almost three in the afternoon with the apartment’s bell finally rang and Taavi rushed to open, a bright smile on his lips as he opened the door for the young woman. Mai looked lovely and he moved to the side to let her in. "Hello Mai, welcome ! I’m happy to see you again." His eyes moved towards the small carrier in her hands and a soft rain started to fall as the biggest grin appeared on his face. "Is it Cactus ?"

The giant Christmas themed duck slowly came into vision, which meant their meeting spot was close by. And not long after, she saw her uncle sit on a bench, waving at her. The demigoddess stopped herself from running over, as that'd be a sure fire way to fall and break all the bones in her body. Instead, she waved back enthusiastically as she skipped over at the same steady pace.
"Nothing more important than family!" the Celt beamed genuinely.

Mai listened with interest as Sun explained his unique connection with animals and his upbringing by his godly parent. It was indeed an unusual and special bond to have, and she couldn't help but admire his ability to communicate with all kinds of creatures.
"That's really fascinating," she replied, her eyes bright with curiosity. "I've never met Airmid... I wonder what she's like." Her voice trailed off a bit as she tried to imagine. To her it was always a given that ones divine parent would be absent from the demi's upbringing. It made sense, really; they were gods. They had better and more important things to do than raise their offspring. Mai never held it against Airmid - she was sure her mother was busy - but the girl did wonder from time to time. She shook off the thought for now - but she'd surely revisit it later tonight.
"Thank you so bloomin' much! He's been quite mischievous lately, and I worry about his safety." A sense of relief washed over the demigoddess.
Sun's enthusiasm was contagious, and she couldn't help but smile. "I'd appreciate that, Sun. Maybe you can find out why he's so determined to follow me everywhere. It's adorable, but I'm concerned he might get hurt."
She gently picked up her spiky friend from her shoulder, where Cactus had cozily nestled himself into the nape of her neck, his quills laying flat. He easily fit in the palms of the girl's hands.
Cactus poked up his little snout, sniffing the air curiously, looking at Sundrop with his little beady eyes. "I'd love to know what's going on in that little head of his."

Mai blinked, her synesthetic trance disrupted by an unexpected collision. Her vision was still swirling with the kaleidoscope of music-induced hues, but she managed a somewhat dazed smile. She looked up at the person who had caught her, his voice sounding--
"TEAL!" she beamed in a drunken excitement. All the colors around her so far were of a warmer variaté; oranges, reds and pinks. And although pretty, it was refreshing to see a color on the opposite side of the color wheel. It had only registered a moment later the sudden shift in hue was there because the owner of the cool toned voice had asked her a question.
"Oh, I'm... I'm okay," she replied, her voice carrying a dreamy quality. "Just got lost in the colors, you know?" She chuckled softly, feeling a bit lightheaded from the combination of the synesthetic overload and the alcohol, not fully grasping that that statement made no sense to anyone without synesthesia.
She glanced at the man more closely, but didn't seem to recognize him. Though she did suffer from a severe case of face blindness. "Oh? You know my uncle Arawn~? she mused. "I'm Mai, by the way. Sorry for crashing into you." She offered him a hand to shake, her fingers tingling with the residual sensations of the music's colors.

Profitable Liar
@maibeemp
Davina was not a good liar. While it came out easier over sns, her joke about her dog eating her gloves went astray, and to not appear like a liar over social media, instead of just explaining it was a joke, Davina immediately felt required to get a dog to settle out her small fib that escalated further than she imagined. It was not a hard decision though as she had been wanting another pet regardless. So early the next morning, she had left the island just long enough to adopt the sweetest little white Pomeranian who appeared to be rather cuddly and calm.
By the time she finally arrived at Mai's door, she realized pretty fast that she would have to own up to the her lies though, even if they became actualized. She felt rather guilty for lying to someone she cared about, and Davina quickly realized too that the poor puppy didn't even have a yet name.
With her new fluffy ball of joy, Davina reached up at the door, quickly knocking at it. "Friend, let me in!"

A Little Bee Told Me....
@maibeemp
The cold weather could be tolerated with a warm cup of black tea and a delicious fruit tart from one of the cafes on campus. Arawn despised cold weather but he did tolerate it. Despite all appearances and how he'd often made his first impression on people, the death god was a gentle old soul with a sweet tooth. It was rare to see the other side of the death god, that made him known as the just ruler of the Otherworld. After the holidays were over, he'd called over his dear niece to surprise her with a gift and to just catch up with her since he'd yet to thank her for the cactus she gifted him.
He sat on the bench outside the main building of the university, next to the still decorated christmas duck. Seeing her coming from afar, the god waved casually, relaxed. His work was all done for the day and he could dedicate the whole day to his dear niece. "I hope you weren't doing anything important, Little Bee," he stated, seeing her. Mai was an absolute delight. Her youthfulness was still as catching as ever and even Arawn found himself warmed simply by her presence.

Sitting across from the behavioral health director, Mai soaked in the encouraging atmosphere that surrounded Director Xi. The golden glow and the delicate scent of peach blossoms created a calming ambiance, making it easier for the demigoddess to open up about her ideas.
As Director Xi mentioned the new programs at Asclepius and the search for passionate individuals, the sunshine girl felt a surge of enthusiasm. The prospect of contributing to alternative treatments for behavioral health intrigued her. Motivated her. The mention of a rooftop greenhouse for garden therapy and the willingness to explore creative solutions resonated with the Celt's own interests.
Walking alongside Director Xi, Mai listened attentively to her words. The idea of repurposing the empty fitness space near the pediatric wing was definitely a smart one. The spacious, two-story area definitely had potential, and Director Xi's question lingered in the air.
The young woman took a moment to absorb the surroundings, envisioning possibilities. "It's a fantastic space with so much potential," she began, a spark of excitement in their eyes. "I believe we can create a multi-functional area that caters to both the physical and mental well-being of patients. Perhaps a combination of expressive arts therapy and light physical activities—yoga, maybe? Though, I'm not well versed in that."
As she spoke, she gestured with her hands. "The large windows provide excellent natural light, and we can incorporate elements of nature into the design, creating a serene and uplifting environment."
Mai paused and took in more of the space, walking around in it. After just a moment, she continued, "Interactive installations or murals could engage patients in a therapeutic and imaginative way. It's essential to make the space versatile, allowing for various activities that align with the diverse needs of the patients. I'm truly inspired by the potential here, and I'm eager to contribute to making it a space that fosters healing and joy."
It was very important day for the young demigoddess. A day she was looking forward to for days! Weeks, months, years, even. Mai had worked hard. Kept her grades up, kept her professors on her good side - though that wasn't very hard for her to do with that bright personality of hers. She did everything she could, and today was finally the day. The day that would pay off all her hard work. She did not know to what extent, admittedly, but it was bound to be big.
Mai had hyped herself up for this meeting all day, but made sure not to get her hopes up too high. The Celt dressed in her favorite color, but still looked as professional as yellow allowed her to - she had to give a good first impression, after all.
Rolling back and forth on the balls of her feet in front of the doors of the building, Mai tried to get most of her energy and excitement out of her system, before entering. Though the excitement was no longer translated into bouncy movements, it was still very evident on the big smile, plastered on the demigoddess' face.
She was excited, and had every right to be.
Mai announced her arrival to the lady working the front desk, and it didn't take long before the student was escorted somewhere. It took every ounce of her petit body not to squeal or jump up and down and embarrass herself and - luckily - all that energy was contained. For now.
"Good afternoon, Director Xi," Mai responded with a warm smile, bowing deeply, feeling the anticipation for the new opportunity boiling up once more - taking evey bit of effort not to explode at her yellow seams.
The atmosphere in the room was inviting, and Mai couldn't help but appreciate the delicate scent of peach blossoms that added a soothing touch.
"Yes, that's me—Mai Abeille. Thank you for having me here at Asclepius~"

Mai laughs along with Kaz, enjoying the lighthearted banter. His infectious laughter is a delightful sound, and she finds herself smiling, the moment light and carefree. She gasps jokingly, "Kaz!", nudging him playfully. "Well, you've got a knack for making things interesting, Kaz. Filthy or not, I think that's a talent." Mai continued, not able to controle her laughter either.
As they share this simple joy and endless laughter, the normalcy of everyday life seem to fade into the background. Mai appreciates these moments of connection, the genuine laughter that feels like a soothing balm for the soul.
Tears in the demigoddess's eyes, the young eclectic woman paused to catch her breath. Setting the pot aside for a moment, she looks at the sprouts with a grin. "Alright, little ones, time to get you into your new home." With a gentle touch, she starts placing the sprouts into the pot, carefully arranging them.
