Exploration- Carnovsky RGB
This work was created by allocating three layers on Photoshop to either Red, Green or Yellow. I then printed each layer separately, then placing the pre-printed paper back into the printer. This work turned out better than I expected as three identifiable “bug” shapes can be seen. For future attempts I would select images that had more detail and a higher B&W range.

Inspiration: Carnovsky RGB
Carnovsky is Francesco Rugi and Silvia Quintanilla, an art and design duo based in Milan. They started collaborating in 2007, producing multi-layered artwork which reveals different scenes under red, green and blue light.
I find their work so fascinating to look at and love the element of illusion seem throughout the forms. I love how when a singular red, green or yellow light is projected onto the work different shapes appear. Moving forward, I’d interested to work with solid RGB colours and see if I can recreate a similar affect.

Exploration- Magic Eye Books
This exploration was created with a Sterogram Generator from which I sourced from royalty free images and patterns to generate. I enjoyed this process and brought me back to times in my childhood using the Magic Eye Book. I do however I would like to learn how to make this illusion from scratch in Photoshop.

WEEK 4
Inspiration: Magic Eye Books
When I was wondering through my local book shop this week I stumbled upon the Magic Eye book. This book gives me such nostalgia as my family would always have them as a kid and have competitions as to who could see the illusion first.
Magic Eye is a series of books that feature autostereograms. After creating its first images in 1991, creator Tom Baccei worked with Tenyo, a Japanese company that sells magic supplies. An autostereogram is a single-image stereogram (SIS), designed to create the visual illusion of a three-dimensional (3D) scene from a two-dimensional image.
I hope to try create my own autostereograms in the coming week.

Exploration- Risotto (Riso Printing)
Created in photoshop, I established this piece by scanning old surf magazines where I then layered colours in photoshop to achieve this ‘Riso style’ effect

Exploration- Risotto (Riso Printing)
For this Riso printing exploration my classmate, Babette and I utilised the RMIT maker space to experiment with this type of printing. We gathered two separately layered elements, the dancing subjects and the shapes, printed each separately and then printed them onto one another. This was an incredibly long process as we had to experiment with the different ink opacities to achieve the desired effect.

WEEK 3
Inspiration: Risotto (Riso Printing)
I am inspired by Risotto a print and design specialist run by designer Gabriella Marcella. The studio embodies her love of “colour and appetite” for making and creativity.
I have always been fascinated to use the Riso Machine at some point in my practice as I love the authentic and vibrant appearance it can achieve. I plan on using the RISO in the Maker Space and potentially using digital forms to achieve the look I’m after.

Inspiration: Natural Textures
Working in a Fruit and Veg Shop I do spend a lot of my time around plant-based foods. For this inspiration I want to look at the natural textures and forms that appear in fruits and vegetables.
To achieve this I incorporates the use of my light-box that I purchased a few months ago and see if I can get the light to transcend through. I hope to use a few different fruits and veggies to see what textures they produce.

Inspiration: TikTok Trend
When scrolling on my TikToK the other week I came across this video on my FYP (tiktok feed). Created by Justin Baessler, I really liked the simple method of a collage style video that transitioned through various subjects and people. This creator may have been inspired by other collage work on social media and wanted to turn their own into a video format.
I would like to create a similar style collage video that explores the idea of transitioning through different people and objects.

WEEK TWO
Inspiration: Dawn NG
Dawn Ng is a multi-hyphenate visual artist from Singapore. She has worked across many diverse mediums, motives and scale ranging from text, illustration, collage, ice and more. The point that interested me the most in her work is the incorporation of ice, specifically melting ice that contains a pigment.
I aim to use the explore the medium of ice and attempt to melt pigmented materials and witness the results that occur both during and after melting. I am looking forward to these experiments as I have never worked with ice before.

To achieve my second exploration utilising ice, I firstly filled a small container with water and placed in droplets of watercolour paints. Once frozen, I then drew with this piece to see how the model would distribute the pigment. This was the less successful experiment of the two as the colours ended up blending together and the green ended up dominating. I do however like the separated texture achieve in the top photo before I started mark making.

I was pleasantly surprised how well this experiment worked out when working with such a reluctant material like ice. To achieve this outcome I gathered a large, clumped piece from my freezer which had a hollow interior. I then used a watercolour brush to apply the pigment to the inside of the ice blocks. As the ice melted in the sun the watercolour paints blended nicely into one another.
