CAS Summary/Interim

This year was very juicy and impactful for my skills and self-development. I have endulged in a wide variety of reflections about my posts already, but if I will try to summarize all my CAS strands, so it is more coherent and understable, what has been achieved by me in this year. Creativity This was my favourite part of CAS this year, as it invloved multiple enjoyable activities for me that were closely related to my passions and hobbies. Here is a list of all my creative tasks for thois year: -3D Modelling -3D Printing -Coding -Sketches for the F1 Project -Photography All of these involved some sort of creative mindset behind them and they all helped me expand my imagination capabilities and problem solving skills. The 3D modelling and 3D printing helped me learn how to use CAD, in order to design some models and transform them into real-life objects. This enabled me to develop an engineer mindset that will help me in my future studies and career. The coding skills also contributed to this, as nowadays many problem-solutions involve some computational power or some calculation or automation possibilites. The sketches and photography enabled me to have an artistic view on the world and its intrinsic beauty and patterns. Overall creativity helped me develop a broad spectrum of skills that will be definetly useful in my future. Activity This was a very fruitful and tasty part of CAS that focused on my physical health and wellbeing that proved to be essential for my normal functioning. Activites I have done:

-Skiing -Cycling -Running -Gym -Swimming While the consistency was not always there for some activities, especially swimming unfortunately, that I have really enjoyed since childhood. I have always had a calm, relaxing feeling while being underwater, a feeling of being watched and monitored by someone or something. The most enjoyable activities were skiing, as it is a rare event, therefore it brings some new excitement to my life and is something unforgettable. This year I have learned a lot of new tricks during skiing that I definetly plan on expanding in DP2. My most consistent activity was probably going to the gym, but during mocks I have also somewhat declined in consistency, which I really regret. Running and cycling were sporadical activities, which I enjoyed, but did not treat as a real training for some goal, but rather a relaxation of some sort. Service My service this year was very quirky, but growthing. For this part of the year I could not find a consistent service and I tried new things, but later on I picked op on it. Services I did this year: -Science Picnic -Physics Circle -Helping homeless or friends As I mentioned before acquiring a consistent service, like the physics circle and science picnic, I used to change my service quite often and it was very fluid and dynamic. When I saw an occasition I applied and participated in it, for example Rasz TV, which was a project where we could send presentations about fascinating topics. Another example is helping homeless during Christmas Eve or helping my friend build his own standalone PC. On the physics circle we try to make different posters and projects for the school and its open days and scientifically promoting our high school. Another branch of physics circle is the science picninc, which is the biggest outdoor scientific event in europe, that compromises of exhibiting scientific experiments and projects. All of these services helped me create communication skills and bring me a sense of compassion for the community and people in need. I hope I can participate more in such events in the future, so I can help more people.

CAS Project Action, more survey photos

CAS Project Action

First stage of action, where we interviewed people with surveys and hanged the first set of posters related with ecological transportation. The gathered results show that the majority of people use public transport to commute to school, this is valuable insight to our project. This stage mostly involved asking people to take part in our survey and printing and hanging posters. Our later stages of action will involve a different theme. Overall the survey was very successful and shocked me in different ways and made me realise a lot about our school community and how it behaves on a regular basis.

CAS Project Preperation

During this stage of the CAS Project we started working on the forms and the questionnaires for the project. After establishing the division of labour in topics we started creating posters in Canva and surveys in Google Forms. In the survey I have included a variety of simple, but concise questions on the ecological lifestyle our students participate in. The questions were about the different means of transportation, water usage, plastic waste and other similar topics associated with our project. I found this stage of the project to be the most exciting, as it was also the most engaging and creative, where one could turn his planned ideas into life.

CAS Project Planning

This is the first stage of our CAS project where we brainstormed ideas and finally decided on making an environmental campaign. Our first idea was math tutoring for MYP students, however it was declined, as it did not include the necessary components. After choosing the main topic we made an online meeting and discussed what we wanted to include and formulated a CAS Project Proposal, which was later signed by our CAS tutor. After planning our topics we did a quick division of labour and decided on what to include in our project, for example a questionnaire, posters and stickers. The planning stage was quite successful and I think that all of the team members agreed on the idea and brought valuable insight into it.

Service 2 July

Preparing for Piknik Naukowy was a very challenging activity, as it required dedication for a good cause and ambition. During this service our task was to fix the hole in the gravitational model to ensure good functioning and proper message/lesson from it

Service 1 June

Preparing for an education driven event, Piknik Naukowy. During our science trip I spent a lot of time establishing and building the foundation of a gravitational simulation model that would be later exhibited by me on Piknik Naukowy, this pictures show the beginning of the project.

Activity 2 June

I went cycling through my local forest, in order to exercise. This was a long and demanding activity, but somehow I managed to go through it without any major problems. When reflecting on the experience I realised that nature is beautiful and we need to cherish it and protect it. I have increased my understanding and appreciation for nature after this activity

Activity 1 June

For this months activity I decided to do a gym workout to activate my body muscles. This was quite the thrilling experience and I enjoyed it very much. I hope I can continue it in the future to ensure proper physical health. This was quite a challenging workout, but now I know I have to focus on physical activity more.

Creativity 2 June

Photography session in Antwerp, the city of diamonds. During my thrilling visit of the Belgian city, Antwerp I took a vast quantity of photos to document my visit and gather a collection of “artwork”. Through my creative photography I am able to show my perception of the world and what fascinates, sparks curiosity in me. The experience made me reflect on the beauty of things and why certain things look pleasing to people. I have started a philosophical debate within myself to try to understand the purpose of art.

Creativity 1 June

Photography session in Delft, during my stay in Delft and Rotterdam I decide to expand my photography skills and took a lot of photos. This was a very interesting experience, which helped me discover new geometry that could enhance the visual appeal of my photos

Service 2 May

Professor Miszta decided to make a social, local event, which aimed to educate local citizens about astronomy, physics and the partial solar eclipse. Of course without much thinking I volunteered to participate. Throughout the day we setup the telescope and showed people the solar eclipse. At the same time we gave them polarising eclipse glasses that make it safe to stare at the sun for prolonged periods of time. Overall I think I brought a positive impact to the community and from the approximately 300 people that approached us, at least some of them learned something or even were inspired.

Service 1 May

For the first part of this month’s service I and a couple of friends helped our physics teacher with transporting a very heavy telescope. It was a specialised dobsonian telescope, which uses a series of mirrors to reflect and focus light into a viewing lens. Our volunteering mission was to transport the telescope from University of Warsaw to near school territory, where we later viewed the solar eclipse and educated locals. This experience reinforced my passion for astronomy and left me with a feeling of accomplishment for helping with volunteering.

Activity 2 May

During my recent trip in Vienna, Austria I decided to endulge myself into city biking. I rented a local bike and had a thrilling experience strolling through the majestic capital of Austria. At the same time a was preforming physical exercise I was able to wonder up on the architecture and culture of Vienna. This activity made me reflect upon the wondrous nature of civilisations, cities and how they blend with nature through ecological architecture. I also refreshed my mind and was left with joy fullness from the endorphins released during the activity.

Activity 1 May

For this months activity I did a fully body workout. While it is less specialised and thereby less effective on particular body parts, it still has positive impact on the body. I usually do those fully body workouts when I have to do legs, core and a little bit of arms. While most of the time I train the upper body, this was an enjoyable change. The overall training resulted in overall net positive impact on many health and physique.
