   “Why must you ask me why? It is embarrassing! I wish to experience the hot Japanese pop culture sensation that is the ‘kabedon’ for myself! Now please, no more delays—strike the metal as it burns!” she exclaims, eyes narrowing at him as she prepared herself.

   She could very well have picked anyone she wished to go through with this idea of hers, but here she was with him. Though the spirit of the ritual was completely ruined (no one just asked or even hesitated according to what she had learned, it simply happened) by now she was determined to go through with it!

                      ah, so his assumption was correct... but that didn’t make it any less awkward for him !  had she any idea how his heart was beating at the mere thought of such an act ?  with a nod, he speaks a gentle  “  a -- alright, if you... insist.  ”  before gulping down his anxieties. surely it can’t be that hard !!  just go for it !!!

                      and so, he gently guides her more than anything towards the wall, putting his hand next to the princess’ head. he could barely look her in the eyes, as he practically felt his face steal all his blood. this was... embarrassing. he was pretty sure he wasn’t even doing it right, honestly.

                      “  ... is... this good enough ?  ”

She's texted Horatio to meet her before classes begin, and her eyes light up at the sight of him. "Good morning, srećo. I wanted to be the first to gift you chocolate today." she explains, presenting the cute box of lovingly crafted homemade chocolates inside just for him. As he accepts she kisses his cheek. "I cannot say enough how much I am looking forward to our evening together."

                     the first to gift him chocolate is what she said, but he was almost certain she would be the only one to even consider doing it. not that he would’ve stated such a thing, there was no time to think any deprecating thoughts, not when he knew what the two had in store for today. warmth filled his heart as he held the box delicately in his hands, the kiss only adding to his already growing smile. today… is gonna be a good day.

                     “  it’s the same for me, i simply can’t wait, mi amor.  ”   saying cheesy lines like that were nothing new, but it still made his heart skip a beat.   “  thank you, from the bottom of my heart.  ”

                     he plants a gentle kiss on her lips before putting the box in his bag with the gentle care one would expect of someone handling something precious. because, it truly was, to him. anything sonia made him would always be top priority to him.

there’s something incredible about the situation he was in.

never in his life did he think he would be able to have such a wonderful person by his side. a girl with an almost ethereal beauty, a smile that could make any day brighter, and laughter that filled his heart with joy. he loved her, she loved him, and that was something so rare and so beautiful. truthfully, he felt undeserving of it, of her. but right now, that didn’t matter. in this moment, he felt at peace, sitting next to the princess in the grass, letting the sun shine on their faces.

“  close your eyes, sonia. please.  ”   he speaks up almost suddenly, warm tones like honey making the request. and as sonia lifted her head off horatio’s shoulders to do as he asked, the brunet smiled. everything she did was so delicate. but, he knew her strength. she was so much more than a mere princess, so much more than just her looks. she had a golden heart, and a vibrant personality the likes of which he had never seen. she shared his humor, and she always felt so genuine. it was with all of these thoughts in mind, that he leaned in to close her gently on her eyelid, a small gesture he had, truthfully, only gotten the idea of from romantic films. but it seemed like sonia didn’t care, as she smiled with the warmth of the sun above, and the world was still  --  as if time stopped, and all that existed in this moment was her.

he leaned in once more, now letting his forehead touch hers, hands intertwining as he whispers an   “  i love you  ”   under his breath. and he did. he truly, truly did.

he couldn’t imagine life without her.

   Once she had an idea in mind there was little that would change her mind. 

                     he completely understood that she wouldn’t let this go, not until he did as she asked. did she get this concept from one of her j - dramas ?  or had she seen other students do it ?  why did she want him to do it, wouldn’t she have plenty of suitors that could do it with ease ?

                     “  but, ah, why ?  ”   ( we aren’t exactly a couple yet. )

   7. Romantic Kiss

   “Do you believe in destiny?”

   Her question is abrupt and breaks the comfortable silence between them as they overlook the balcony and out towards the massive, sprawling garden below them. The twilight hour paints the sky vibrant reds and golds; music playing behind them as the party carried on without them.

   Since they both announced their true feelings Sonia whisked them both away to their homeland as fast as she could . This party was for them—in honor and to recognize their official courtship. After the festivities were over they would be both moved to their bedrooms (a guestroom for Horatio, and her own she hadn’t slept in since leaving Japan) for the night and be ready for departure by the morning. It had been a long weekend. 

   For now they had taken the chance to slip away as Novoselic’s specialty wine was brought out and the party-goers grew bolder with their laughter and merriment. In no mood for alcohol, it was Sonia that whispered in his ear to follow her to a favorite spot, and she walked with him holding his arm. He did not have to speak to let her know he was as desperate for an escape as she was, if not more as her native tongue was still foreign to him. 

   “I do.” she answers her own question before he can. The princess rests her head on his shoulder and closes her eyes, breathing in the moment and his light cologne. Like this, the world continues on without them.

   “No matter what we do, we cannot defy it. From the moment we are born our lives have already been determined. Though some may find that scary, I… I do not. It is comforting. You and I are right where we were always meant to be.”

   Sonia slips away from him and turns Horatio gently to face her. Her smile is warm like the sun and eyes full of adoration just for him. The hand on his shoulder moves to caress his cheek; her heart melting as he leaned into her touch.

   “Nothing is for certain. But…. that does not mean I have to think about what will happen in the future when it comes to us possibly breaking things off. That would be horrible. I just want to think of us as we are. Though… it is very easy to get excited. I will not lie about that.”

   They both knew what was intended for them now: marriage. It was not expected of them anytime soon as they were still students, but the word made both their hearts and thoughts race with the possibilities.

   She moves closer to him until she is a mere breath away. His hands moves to her hips and she wraps her arms around him in an embrace; eyes downcast as she whispers. “I just…. want to think of us like this, together. I want to learn if this love is our destiny and if it always will be.”

   “I love you, Horatio.” she says, her voice so soft it is almost lost to the gentle wind. He replies in kind and their lips meet, softly at first before their passion grew and pulled them even closer together.

   And as she kissed him and he kissed her time was still.

                        he almost choked on air as sonia made her request- no, her demand. clearing his throat, horatio adjusts his bowtie anxiously.

                         “  ah --  !!  ”   horatio really should look where he’s going, shouldn’t he ?  he had been so focused on tinkering with a small clock while on the move, he hadn’t noticed the other person until it was too late. on the ground were papers scattered from the impact of the two bumping into one another, and the first thing the brunet did was examine his work.  “  please don’t break, please don’t break --  ”
