We'd just like to publicly state the point, purpose, and intentions of this fic, in the interest of transparency. We're happy to have readers disagree with us about certain elements of the story, as we know not everyone will agree with all of our viewpoints and opinions. However, it seems that it is necessary to clearly state why we write this fic and why we make some of the choices that we do.
Frankly, we started this fic because we were tired. Tired of fandom focusing on white men and their relationships while largely ignoring the slash ships with men of color and the femslash ships. Tired of the deluge of m/f fics that featured ships we didn't like or agree with. Tired of fandom ignoring or vilifying characters of color. We wanted to create a world for these characters, most of whom we love dearly, where they were happy and safe and loved. A world where they wouldn’t be killed off for ratings or for false pathos (unless they really, really deserved it). And we wanted a world with a variety of queer characters and pairings that, frankly, the canon isn't interested in giving us. We’re both queer, we’re both women, one of us is biracial, we’re both neurodivergent. The amount of fic about people like us is discouragingly small, and we wanted to help fix that.
There are canon ships that we love that don't feature in this fic. That's not a knock on the ship itself - for example, in MCU canon, Tony and Pepper is a lovely relationship that fits perfectly in the movies. But twenty-eight-year-old Sharper Image employee Tony Stark isn't ready for a serious relationship, and we don't think it's fair to this universe's Pepper to throw them together because that's what the movies did. And there are canon ships that we dislike that are lambasted, winked at, or otherwise sidestepped here too. If that bothers you, that's fine, you're allowed your opinion. There are literally hundreds of fics for every canon pairing we don't write. We're not interested in contributing to any of those mountains.
The vast majority of characters in mallverse are some stripe of queer. (There aren’t any trans characters yet, but we’ll be happy to write one in if the opportunity arises. For now, we respectfully admit our cis privilege and leave those stories to more knowledgeable writers.) This is because, as stated earlier, canon will not give us more than a handful of queer characters, so we will just take them, and they will be happy. If this bothers you, rest assured there are hundreds or thousands of other fics featuring a heterosexual version of every single one of these characters. We will not begrudge you reading any of those.
We write a lot of "crack" pairings. Sometimes it's because it happens organically (Maya/Maria was an accident that spun out of the bisexual romcom and we liked it so much we decided to make it official) and sometimes we just want to see if we can write something and make it make sense (Mike/Gamora). We know some people will like them and some won't, and that's okay. It's not really any weirder than shippers who ship two characters who have barely interacted onscreen together and write thousands of words of fic about them. It's a fun challenge for us. We like to see how our crack ships stack up against some of the weirder ones from fandom or even from the MCU itself.
We’ve received a few comments about the way certain men in the series are written. Again, as a reader, it is your prerogative to be bothered by the way we write a certain character. If you find a particular characterization offensive, that’s fine. Some of our feelings about certain characters bleed through into the characterization, no doubt. We have deliberately left out most of the male villains, because they don’t fit in this universe. If this bothers you, again, you may rest assured that literally every single white man we have excluded or written in a negative way has thousands of fics about him that are likely to be more to your taste. (Scott Lang will never be an onscreen character because, frankly, neither of us cares to write him. If you’d like to imagine he works in a Baskin-Robbins down the street, please feel free. We are done with mediocre white men and MaggieMoo’s is much more whimsical.) We do our best to treat the majority of the male characters with care, respect, and love, and if a few of the more popular ones are made into punchlines, so be it.
But, you might say, you throw in so many random female characters! Who is that one, I don’t even remember her/I had to google her/she didn’t even have a name in canon/etc. A lot of this is author preference, because we like female characters and we think more of them should be in more fics always. Many of them were killed, traumatized, or abused in canon and ignored or vilified in fandom, and we think they deserve better. For instance, Hope Van Dyne is here because we think she’s far more interesting than “just” Hank Pym’s daughter and Scott’s designated love interest. Pam and Wendy from Jessica Jones are here because they deserved better than the endings they got. Carina from Guardians of the Galaxy is here because we loved all two minutes of her screentime. Fandom does this again and again with male characters but it almost never happens with tertiary or background women, so we do our best to fix it.
We also try to elevate the canon characters of color who fandom likes to ignore and discredit. As two people with white and white-passing privilege, we are aware we may accidentally write something offensive or problematic, and we always want to work on improving. The MCU is a repeat offender in its treatment of characters of color, and we want to do our best to help correct that. The entire Kara subplot, as well as Skye’s interactions with Jiaying, are some of our attempts to right stories that we feel were told badly. Also, we are not Jewish, but we have done our best to include Jewish characters in a way that we hope is positive and helpful. We are not perfect, and we will certainly make mistakes, but we do our best.
Is this fic political? In its way, yes. All of the above could be considered political elements, and we certainly don’t shy away from political topics when they come up. We’re pretty confident in our assertion that Hydra are Nazis and therefore Hydra is racist and terrible. We’re also not going to avoid writing about media or certain topics if they make sense for the story. We include same-sex marriages and discussion of anti-black racism because it makes sense for that particular chapter. If a character expresses a like or dislike for something, this may or may not be our personal opinion; Wanda and Bucky dislike fireworks because they have sensory issues and PTSD, respectively. IKEA is the workplace of most Hydra guys because we needed something that would be reasonably close to the mall. Any disparaging remarks against pieces of media are in-character for the people in question. Violet is pro-vaccine and pro-sex education because she is a nurse.
We also think it’s important to acknowledge mental health, disability, and various neurodivergences. Again, we are not perfect, and we acknowledge our able-bodied privilege, but we try to bring up various disabilities and mental health issues when it’s relevant to the character or circumstances. We are both autistic, and we felt it was important to include autistic characters in this story, as well as characters with PTSD and anxiety and characters in recovery from abusive situations. The MCU is terrible at properly addressing mental health issues, and we would like to help fix that; recovery from (and sometimes, in order to portray what is going on, scenes of) abusive relationships is a running theme, in large part because one of us has personal experience and therefore an even greater passion for letting characters get the healing they deserve, as well as for including examples in the hopes that they will help validate some people’s perception (as for many, it’s easy to think your situation isn’t odd until someone else points it out, and knowing they’ve pointed it out can help one get closer to healing).
If you’ve read this far, thanks, and sorry for the tl;dr. In summary: this fic is queer, diverse, feminist, and woman-positive, and it’s going to keep being that way until we stop writing it.

Give me 5 headcanons for Skimmorse in the mallverse!
ooh okay!!
It’s kind of been implied but not said onscreen, but they’re not an exclusive triad - Bobbi is totally free to pursue anyone else for casual or semi-regular sex at any point. She’s responsible and safe and will mention any other partners she has to Skye and Jemma if they don’t already know about it, just to be courteous.
Skye has Bobbi and Jemma over to play video games a lot, which mostly entails Jemma sitting around watching Skye and Bobbi egg each other one while they play video games. Jemma’s not very good at video games.
This is a teensy bit of a spoiler for an upcoming smutfic, but! Bobbi usually dommes both of them, but super super occasionally she’s fine with letting Skye try it. She’s still really mouthy though, and they banter back and forth a lot (which Jemma finds hot).
When all three stay the night together, their favorite sleeping position is Skye and Bobbi on either side of Jemma, facing her. They also like spooning, with Skye in the middle. (They never stay like this, because Skye rolls around in her sleep a lot, but they try, anyway.)
Bobbi likes to pick them up and put them on the counter or the table for kissing purposes. Jemma loves it. Skye pretends like she doesn’t like it, but she totally does.

She's never had an official diagnosis of anything, but Bobbi knows her brain is a little off. She can "pass" really well, but normal conventions sometimes exhaust her, not that she'd tell. One of the appeals of dominating in sexual scenarios for her is getting to make her own rules and for a little while having them followed, in a controlled environment.

Luke met Hope when she started sniffing around the bar after starting the semester. He laughed off her fake ID and tried to shoo her off, but she kept coming back so finally he figured at least in the bar he could keep an eye on her and gave her a Coke. Jessica came in one of the times she was hanging around and started talking to her.

Jemma was diagnosed with clinical anxiety when she was in high school and for the most part keeps this to herself. Psychiatrists she's seen subsequently have considered adding to the diagnosis but settled for acknowledging "flavors" of other neurological diagnoses unofficially.
