I feel like Enterprise is my home Trek, despite having seen quite a lot of TOS reruns as a kid. Enterprise is the first one I actually paid attention to, mainly because I started watching it as an adult. And then I watched AOS, which is also a favorite of mine.

Talking Trek with my dad this morning. He's the one who took me to my first convention at 10, who took me to see Generations in theaters on a school night, who has watched every trek with or before me and guided me through.

He has seen me in my J/C era in my mid 20's, watched Picard season 3 beside me in my late 30's

My question to him: Why do people dislike new Trek?

His answer: Everyone has their crew, for you, that's TNG, that's who you think of first, when you think of Trek, that's your base. (I thought he would have said Voy for me for the fandom level in my 20's, but he's right, TNG is home for me, that is Trek in my heart)

Him: And anything else will feel different.

Me: But I like the other ones too.

Him: Yes , but it comes down to what everyone's home base Trek is, that's how they process the rest and if something doesn't feel enough like the home base Trek, it isn't seen as Trek to that person.

(His Trek was TOS, but he likes TNG, and loves DS9 and enjoys Voy and Ent, and will watch the new stuff)

After this conversation, I want to tell all my friends, experience all of Trek, watch it all, but never be shy about the fact that your Trek is your vantage point and the deepest part of your Trekkie heart
