they introduce cassian andor and it’s like this man has a missing sister, a dead planet, and the biggest saddest brown eyes you’ve ever seen. he’s killed two guys sort of by accident but this is also kinda par the course for him. everyone in his town kinda loves him and kinda wants to shake him down for coins. he treats his droid like a person. he’s a mommas boy and a terrible boyfriend. some guy halfway across the galaxy is dying to meet him. and it’s like cool that is my best friend i would protect him with my life hope nothing terrible happens to him in the ensuing months of his life.

Andor having Mon Mothma’s daughter gravitate towards the oppressive practices of her family’s ancestral culture as a way to rebel against a mother that has purposefully distanced herself from them is both one of the smartest and cruelest storytelling moves that this show has done to date. Ouch ouch ouch

“The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that.
And know this, the day will come when all these skirmishes and battles, these moments of defiance will have flooded the banks of the Empire’s authority and then there will be one too many. One single thing will break the siege. Remember this. Try.”

Syril Karn + Outfits (and outfit variations) in ANDOR Season 2
“Here's a person that is perhaps not the most expressive, open character. But we likened it to the first time you ever travel to Europe. You arrive somewhere, and everything seems so culturally rich. [The Ghor] have a sense of tradition and pride about their history. And so I like to think that as Syril lived on Ghorman, he was affected by the clothing there. He wanted a little bit of Ghorman flavor for himself. He has a long, rich, dark brown woolen coat, and he styles it up with beautiful velvet scarves and a beret. In a way, he's found his people. It’s like ‘finally, people who appreciate the difference between a collar that's one centimeter higher.’” Early on, Wilkinson and showrunner Tony Gilroy discussed creating a signature look for Ghorman, an iconic piece that was synonymous with the culture. They landed on the Ghorman trench coat. “It's what everyone sees when they're hustling down the street. It's the sort of thing that if you had traveled back home from a trip to Ghorman, people would say, 'Oh my gosh! Is that a Ghorman trench coat?’” “The last time we see Syril, he actually has gone so far as to buy the Ghorman trench coat. It has lovely detailing through the cuffs and collar. Syril has a beautiful cape detail on the back because we knew he would be involved in a big stunt sequence with Cassian. So, we wanted a great silhouette that would move beautifully." - Michael Wilkinson, Andor costume designer

"rebellions are built on hope" coming from a random ghorman bellhop, who cassian met twice is really the most andor/rogue one thing ever. because he is SO random. they all are. every rebel. every member of rogue one. they are just random, ordinary people, who were willing and brave enough to give up everything for even a chance at freedom. and that is so important

one of the hundred things I love about Andor is that in the end, all the villains were destroyed not in an epic showdown with the rebels or whoever but by the machine that they worked for. syril was a faceless casualty of the genocide he helped create. dedra was done in for putting ambition over conformity to the machine, and she took down partagaz, who essentially created her, along with her. even heert was quite literally killed by his own droid and his own men. all of them were crushed by the wheel they dedicated their lives to keep turning. it's just so deeply deeply satisfying.
