40 FICTIONAL FEMALE DYNAMICS 11. Yasmin Khan x Thirteen (Doctor Who)
You know what I said earlier about not being a bad date? Well, dates are not something I really do, you know... And if I was going to, believe me, it'd be with you. I think you're one of the greatest people I've ever known.

What if I tell you that the ending of the original Lilo and Stitch was important because Nani fighting tooth and nail for custody over Lilo takes place against a history of the separation of Indigenous families? What if I tell you that the ending of the original Lilo and Stitch was important because it shows that Nani was not inherently a bad guardian, just a young overwhelmed woman who needed a support system and not punishment (just like many families esp Black and Brown single mothers do)?
And then Disney spat upon that ending for the live action remake?

okay okay lemme just put this out in the open:
i do enjoy the jemily content that the cast is feeding us. i love that they enjoy or ship jemily even. but i hope you guys know that they are just queerbaiting you to keep the ratings and for people to keep watching since there is a huge amount of sapphics/gays watching the show.
while i understand that a lot of us are attached to jj and emily as a ship because yes they do have a potentially good slowburn story if made canon (but it is not), we do have a CANON wlw woc ship - TARA & REBECCA. ms. aisha tyler even gave us a beautiful wlw sex scene, a first in the show. we need to acknowledge and appreciate how big of a deal that is. as a show that started with mainly white guys/people, IT IS A HUGE DEAL having tara and rebecca as the first canon sapphic ship in the show.
i know that maybe a lot of us are still canonically rooting for jemily but the thing is - the writers suck. if they wanted jemily to be canon then, they would've made them canon. and making jemily canon now would NOT make any sense. for me, the least we could have is some sort of acknowledgement (a talk or whatever) that they did have some feelings in the past but that's it. (if the j3id confession happened to jemily, that would have made more sense but it didn't so honestly, again and again, shitty writing.)
ANYWAY, i am not policing how you consume or enjoy your media. you can enjoy things and you can enjoy what they're feeding you but be cautious of how you get your hopes up, especially to young sapphics/queers. i am saying this as a lesbian who have gotten her hopes up by different shows with sapphic pairings, only for those pairings to either die, never happen, or shows get cancelled.
happy shipping! fanfiction always got your back when things get tough!

anyway the extended cut of the day vinci code is superior because it's essentially 3 hours 18 minutes of sophie neveu displaying passive superpowers and robert langdon being shocked and confused about it

Btw I rewatched Black Widow with my sister last night and I don't care what anyone says, that movie had the most terrifying villain in the MCU. "Taskmaster--", she wasn't the actual villain, she was a victim. You may complain over how it wasn't even Tony Masters, I get it, but that's not the point of the post. The villain was Dreykov. "But he's weak" oh yeah physically. He's not a purple alien or a crazy robot yeah. He's still terrifying. He was a human trafficker. He kidnapped little girls. He brainwashed them, he forcibly sterilized them, taking their choice of whether they wanted to be mothers or not —Natasha wanted kids, Yelena didn't but the point is the choice. He groomed them and turned them into killers, also had them trained into using seduction and sex as a weapon (you know what that probably means), literally chemically subjugated them so they couldn't even refuse. The ones who weren't useful enough for him or rebelled against him? He had them killed. He ruined thousands and thousands of lives.
He was a wealthy guy with huge political influence who viewed women as expendable resources to do his bidding and nothing else. Even his own daughter. So yeah, that's why I found him more terrifying than other villains. Because no purple alien with a gauntlet is going to come to kill people. But there are a lot of motherfuckers like Dreykov in real life. He's a realistic villain. That's why.
