Inauguration of the “Training Center”: Training has been reinvented at Manitou Group

The Manitou group, the worldwide leader in rough-terrain handling, is inaugurating its new “Training Center” at its Ancenis site in France. This new structure offers a training environment specifically designed for the machines’ clearance that will more effectively address dealers’ growing demand for training.

A new building, spacious workshops, and innovative digital tools. The Manitou group's “Training Center” was inaugurated today in Ancenis. These premises were created specifically to train technicians to maintain, service, and repair Manitou Group products. This site, which spans 1,600 m², offers four 200 to 300 m² sized workshops. This new infrastructure addresses needs relating to machine dimension, especially height. The design of this infrastructure is based on the proximity of the training rooms to the workshops, thereby reducing travel time and improving the technicians’ productivity during the various training sessions. The spaces allocated to the 18 individuals who work in this new area were also redesigned in order to promote teamwork and the well-being of the employees.

In addition to the physical training carried out in its many workshops, this Training Center offers high performance tools capable of meeting a sharp increase in requests for decentralized training. Lionel Deneu, Manager of this center, highlights this increase: “In 2018, more than 3,500 technicians received training. 75% of the training was done remotely or at the group's subsidiaries. We are therefore able to group all of the dealers for each region together. To meet this growing demand, we included e-learning spaces for targeted technical updates and spaces to record tutorials to support quality decentralized training activities.” To meet this demand, which increased by 400% in only one year, the Training Center is equipped with three distance learning rooms and a recording studio.

Manitou Extends its Reach with Straight Boom Mobile Elevating Work Platforms for North America

Manitou is now offering four straight boom Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) in North America—the Manitou TJ 65, TJ 65+, TJ 80+ and TJ 85. Top features of these new models include smooth platform operation, three steering modes and the ability to make four simultaneous movements.

“These new TJ models are engineered with the customer in mind, incorporating new innovative features in safety and performance,” said Mike Sover, product line manager for MEWPs, Manitou Group. “Our MEWPs lead the industry in Europe, providing maximum productivity and smooth operation. Operators can quickly make multiple movements at the same time, from changing the platform direction to lifting the boom and rotating the machine.”

After over 25 years of proven success in the European MEWP market, Manitou recently made some major announcements about the product line. Just last year, MEWPs were launched in North America with five articulating models, ranging from 33 to 49 feet high, both electric and diesel powered. Manitou also invested in a new manufacturing facility in Candé, France in order to support the demand. Machine production at the new facility is scheduled to begin in 2021. The new straight boom offering in North America is the latest announcement from Manitou, as the company continues to penetrate the United States and Canadian markets.

The new Manitou straight boom models for the North American market range in platform lift height from64 ft. 9 in. to 84 ft. 6 in. The Manitou TJ 65+ and TJ 80+ come standard with a larger platform that measures7 ft. 7 in. by 2 ft. 11 in. and is designed to comfortably hold three people, allowing up to 900 pounds capacity unrestricted. All four models are powered by a Kubota 49.6 hp diesel engine and have a front oscillating axle for additional driving power on any terrain.

Manitou’s straight boom MEWPs have many features that contribute to smooth and safe operation. These include proportionate hydraulic movements, constant rotational control that adjusts according on the boom extension, and 360 degree continuous rotation. In addition, the operator can select to drive in 4-wheel, 2-wheel or crab steering modes.

Due to extensive experience in Europe, Manitou has been ahead of curve for implementing the new ANSI A92 standards in North America. All Manitou MEWP models, including the new straight boom machines, are manufactured with the new safety requirements and do not need to be retrofitted. This includes load and tilt sensing, a swing door on the basket and Tier IV engines. Machine maintenance is simplified with a self-diagnostic panel at ground level to quickly detect fault codes. Manitou’s EasyMANAGER telematics system also gives the ability to manage the unit’s location, maintenance cycles and service warnings.

These machines are fully supported and available at Manitou dealerships across the United States and Canada.

Erst vor wenigen Monaten ist der Pferdeausbilder auf seinem neuen Hof im ostbayerischen Michelsneukirchen eingezogen. Dort werden derzeit 25-30 Pensions- und Ausbildungspferde beherbergt.

Als das Projekt 7P Ranch begann, war klar, dass sowohl die Neugestaltung des Hofs als auch der laufende Betrieb die Anschaffung eines Teleskopladers nötig machen wird. Bernd Hackl: „Der Manitou wird täglich beim Laden von Heu und zum Zusammenschieben und Laden von Mist gebraucht.“ Bei den Arbeiten rund um neue Paddocks, den Reitplatz, die Reithalle, den Roundpen und dem Anlegen von Wegen kommen dem Manitou Teleskoplader aber noch mehr Aufgaben zu. Mit der Schaufel werden Sand und Kies transportiert und verteilt. Rund 6 Meter Hubhöhe und eine Tragkraft bis 2,5 Tonnen machen den MLT 625 zum echten Allrounder, nicht zuletzt durch die Anbaugeräte - Schaufel, Palettengabel und ein Ballenspieß sind derzeit auf dem Hof zu Hause.

Hackl, unter anderem bekannt aus der VOX Sendung „Die Pferdeprofis“, waren bei der Anschaffung vor allem eine einfache Bedienung und eine kompakte Maschine wichtig. „Wir hatten noch einen Teleskoplader eines anderen Herstellers zum Test vor Ort. Dieser konnte aber nicht mit dem Manitou MLT 625 mithalten. Da hätten wir wohl oder übel eine zweite, kleinere Lösung finden müssen, da unsere Wege hier zum Teil sehr schmal sind und Wendigkeit erfordern.“ Der nur 1,81 Meter breite und 2 Meter hohe MLT 625 punktet da mit seinen Abmessungen. Der 75 PS starke Kubota Motor und das hydrostatische Getriebe sorgen für Fahrkomfort und starke Leistung bei geringem Spritverbrauch.

Auch die einfache Bedienung war ein wichtiger Faktor, der für den Manitou MLT 625 sprach. Schließlich fahren nicht nur Hackl selbst, sondern auch seine Mitarbeiter und Praktikantinnen täglich den Manitou.

Genügend Bodenfreiheit und Wendigkeit, Allradlenkung und Allradantrieb zahlen sich aus, wenn es „offroad“ geht. Denn auch beim Bau des „Extreme Trail“ auf der 7P Ranch hilft der Manitou MLT 625. Der Extreme Trail entsteht auf einem steilen Hang im Wald. Dort werden Stufen, Holzbrücken und andere Hindernisse angelegt, die die Geschicklichkeit der Pferde trainieren sollen.

Das nächste Projekt für Hackl, bei dem der Manitou tatkräftig mit anpacken darf: Die Anlage von artgerechten Ställen mit Paddocks und genügend Bewegungsmöglichkeiten für die vierbeinigen Gäste.

At the FORMULA 1 event in Melbourne in 2016, Manitou was particularly visible after the crash of Fernando Alonso during the race where the Manitou MT-X 1135 H telehandler was used to lift and carry away from the track what was remaining of Alonso’s F1 car.

2 new telescopic handlers at the ConExpo 2017

Manitou provides Demos with two new telescopic handlers at ConExpo 2017: the MRT 2150 Series II Rotating Telescopic Handler and the MHT 10130 Heavy Capacity Telescopic Handler

The MRT 2150 rotating telescopic handler with 360 degree continuous rotation will be equipped with an extendable 13' work platform that can accommodate loads up to 1,320 lbs. (600 kg) with 180 degree swing capability. A 660 lbs. (300 kg) winch is integrated within the platform. This equipment setup is ideal for industrial maintenance, panel and glass installers, general contractors and masons

The MHT 10130 heavy capacity telescopic handler with a maximum lifting capacity of 28,000 lbs. (13 000 kg) will be equipped with a pipe grapple attachment with 94" (2400 mm) forks. With a maximum lift height of 36'6" (9.62 m) this equipment set up is ideal for oil and gas applications.

Both the MRT Series rotating telescopic handlers and MHT series heavy capacity telescopic handlers come standard with remote operation, allowing operators to control engine functions, boom extension and attachment operation from outside the cab.

The Manitou brand showcased more than 5 new Manitou models in the rotating telescopic handler, heavy duty telescopic handler and construction telescopic handler product lines.

STEPTEMBER 2016: A Successful Challenge!

On September 2016, Manitou Australia undertook the STEPTEMBER challenge: walk 10,000 steps a day for a month in support of the Cerebral Palsy Alliance.

September is a yearly event organized by The Cerebral Palsy Alliance to help raise awareness and collect funds to supply sufficient help to kids who suffer from Cerebral Palsy.

Once again Manitou Australia staff members succeeded in meeting the challenge by raising a total of $3,013 and taking 3,471,038 steps!

Thank you for those who donated to Manitou Australia STEPTEMBER page and our congratulation to the Team of Manitou Australia, we are grateful for their contribution to this effort!

FILL A BUCKET WITH MANITOU AUSTRALIA!

On July 18th, Manitou Australia organised a special event to celebrate and show its support to the MANITOU Elevation Week.

The concept was simple: get as many clothing items as possible and fill a Manitou bucket! In only a couple of hours... the challenge was already completed!

200 KG of clothing items: jeans, tee-shirts, coats and shoes were collected from MAU Staff and even from Dial A Dump Industries (DADI) which is one of the leading waste management service providers in New South Wales based in the neighborhood.

The 200 KG of clothing were then distributed to the local St Vincent De Paul Charity Association in Sydney, Australian association with more than 40,000 members and volunteers, who work hard to assist people in need and combat social injustice across Australia. (more information here).

Liftrite Hire & Sales, an Australian Manitou Dealer, also managed to organise their very own Manitou FILL A BUCKET day at their local head office in Perth, Western Australia. Their initiative was very successful and they managed to fill a whole bucket with clothing items!

We would like to thank Liftrite for taking the time to participate, Dial A Dump Industries for supporting the initiative and bringing more than 20kg of bags! And also, the complete staff at MAU for making it happen. Thank you!

Manitou on the mountain top

Our dealer in Mongolia, Dastan Nigamet recently achieved a feat that only very few people have the chance to experiment. Dastan climbed one of the Altai Mountains , a wide mountain range boarding Mongolia, China, Russia and Kazakhstan. He has ascended the country’s most western point (4080 m above sea level) during few days.

This big fan of Manitou carried out a Manitou flag during this incredible experience.

Congratulations again for this performance Dastan. We are very proud to be part on this amazing adventure.

10 Teleskopen für Roggenland Vermietung

Die Arbeitsbühnen- und Staplervermietung Roggenland hat sich für 10 Teleskopstapler von Manitou entschieden. Ende Januar erfolgte die Übergabe der Maschinen durch unseren Vertriebspartner, die Firma Wasmus Gabelstapler. Statt des üblichen Manitou-Rot leuchten die Teleskopen jetzt im grün-gelb der Firma Roggenland.

Die gewählten Manitou Modelle der MT Reihe decken Hubhöhen von 6 Meter (MT 625) bis rund 18 Meter (MT 1840) ab. Dabei können bis zu 4.000 kg bewegt werden. Die Leistung der neu angeschafften Maschinen beträgt zwischen 75 und 102 PS. Ausgestattet sind die Manitous mit Palettengabeln.

In der Wahl der Maschinen spielten laut Roggenland vor allem hohe Qualität, Zuverlässigkeit und Robustheit eine Rolle. In allen Maschinen sind die gleichen Komponenten verbaut, was die Wartung besonders einfach macht. Ausschlaggebend war aber auch die moderne Abgastechnologie. Inhaber Heinrich Roggenland erzählt:  „In den Manitou Teleskopstaplern sind  die Rußpartikelfilter serienmäßig verbaut. Saubere Technologie ist uns wichtig.“

Roggenland weiter: „Für unsere Kunden ist einfaches Handling ein wichtiger Faktor. In diesem Aspekt haben uns die Manitou MTs voll überzeugt.“  Die Manitou MT Teleskopstapler sind durch ihre hohe Bodenfreiheit und die seitliche und frontale Stabilität für schwieriges Gelände geeignet.  Für Stabilität sorgt auch der  Niveau-Ausgleich, der bis zu +/-  9° kompensiert.  Der enge Wenderadius sorgt für leichte Manövrierbarkeit.

Northern Ireland : First Manitou 200 ATJ Access Platform

Balloo Hire are one of the largest plant, tool, site accommodation and equipment hire companies in Northern Ireland and their expertise in the plant hire sector goes back over three decades. Manitou construction telehandlers have been a popular mainstay of their hire fleet over many years and therefore it was a natural progression in the latter part of 2015 to order Manitou Access Platforms.

Twelve ATJ rough terrain articulated platforms have been purchased by Balloo Hire with a mix of the three models :

With the approaching start of the new season of V8 Supercars, Manitou is also back as the official provider of recovery vehicle at V8 Supercars Championship races accross Australia and New Zealand.

MANITOU UNDER THE SUN. 

Yes, we feel you too... Welcome to Likuliku lagoon resort in Fiji.

For now more than 10 years, the resort has been equipped with Manitou MT-X machines to lift, carry and load boats, trucks or containers. They recently bought the MT-X 1440 for its versatility and its reliability.

“It cannot do everything, but it can do more of everything than anything else.” says the group engineer at the Likuliku lagoon resort.

Prior to buying the Manitou MT-X 1440, the resort had owned an MT-X 1740 for many years which was used for loading and carrying heavy loads in salt water, on top of hills, etc. It had a very busy life and has now retired in the highlands of the island.
