I really want to be the sort of feminist who defends old women and understands where they're coming from but ong retail in a retirement town is taking it out of me. I'm currently dealing with a customer trying to get me fired (she went to corporate) because I told her I'd appreciate if she didn't throw things at me. I wouldn't have said that if she didn't begin the interaction by throwing a bag at me and demanding her money back.

Honestly, even if I don't get fired over this nonsense, the next time a boomer threatens me, insults me, throws something at me, or curses me out, I will walk out. I already have a second job. I don't get paid enough to deal with Shirley throwing a fit because I "look smug and need to be smacked," or because I don't know off the top of my head if we carry a specific brand product. I put up with too much nonsense from the dementia demons and it's not worth the minimum wage paycheck.

I hate it here and I'm starting to wish for a second covid because 95% of problem customers are over 60.

On an unserious note, I had a customer who was very pregnant and wrangling two toddlers come in wearing a shirt that read "i look better bent over - proud smut reader" and yk I think the wrong people unlearned shame
