MapleClan Moon 12 (Part 1)

Blood/Gore/Death warning for the original version (beneath cut)

While out on a stroll, Ratbriar hears the soft whispers of cats, the sounds carried to him by the wind. Excitement surges through him as he rushes towards the sound. Finally, maybe, StarClan has heard him? Finally, maybe, they would talk to him again.

Instead of StarClan, Ratbriar finds a young cat who has lost their life in a harsh kitting; the five newly born bodies mewling for attention, clinging to a body that will never move again.

Ratbriar tries to suppress his disappointment and focuses on the task of bringing the helpless kittens home.

I am currently playing Moon 12 (yea I dont play ahead much). I have stopped moving on ever since the update dropped, because I wanted to ask you a question:

Since the update, there is now the possibility to search for lost clan mates. Now, I am of course considering doing this for Littlespeckle. My question is if anyone has any experience with this function, and if you think I should use it right now, or later, or never.

Because while emotionally I want Littlespeckle back more than anything else, for the story I think it could be interesting to see if/how he'd come back on his own. I don't know if I want to search for him now if that means hes gonna be back the next Moon unscathed like it was nothing. I want his time away to carry some weight, and I dont know if suddenly finding him would take that away.

So idk what do you guys think I need help🫠

Let's get back to the kitties. While Ratbriar is off pondering his life, the clan life doesn't stop.

Nothing is better than Ravenspeckle spraining their paw, immediately growing bored in the medicine den, playing a prank on the other warriors, getting in trouble for it, and blaming it on the apprentices who are - of course - her own kids. Perfection.

Also, poor Firepaw :( sad for my baby.

Overwhelmed with all the questions, Firepaws outburst and the mystery around Thrushpaw, and with nobody to talk to, Ratbriar makes a journey to the sky-high hill, the surrounding clans most sacred place, reaching high above anything else in the area. But even as he clouds seem to dance around him, StarClan is silent. StarClan has been silent for moons. Ratbriar has not told anyone yet, afraid to lose his position as medicine cat, but the secret is getting more and more soul-crushing. Has he done something wrong? Is that why everything seems to be falling apart?

The communication with StarClan functions differently for these Clans than it usually does. It is not entirely risk-free, as cats who commune too much with StarClan (or the dark forest) often loose grip on reality, on what is alive and what is not, and start to loose feeling and care for the world they live in. Medicine cats need to be able to keep their hold on reality through a lot of trials. On the other hand, communing with StarClan is still extremely important, since they're usually more helpful in this world than they are in the books.

The family that Swamppelt has left behind in PrickleClan is rather small. The only one still alive is her uncle Singingbird, who she never had much of a relationship with anyway. Her father died just before she was born, and until shortly before she left PrickleClan, it was always just her and her mother. Until she died too, supposedly murdered by DreamClan, and Swamppelt felt so alone and unsafe in PrickleClan that she decided to leave. Unbeknownst to Swamppelt, Singingbird has had a litter of kits, so she has a little more blood-related family than she knows!

🌷for Firepaw

Firepaw is generally a very introverted cat who doesn't like to share information about himself, but if you know him well enough, there's a lot of little quirks to pick up. For example, when he's talking to someone and disagrees on what theyre saying, but doesnt want to be rude and interrupt them, he tilts his head and narrows his eyes, looking at them very intently, in an honestly very rude manner, but he just cant help it. He forgets to blink when he's deep in thought, and stares into space almost uncannily. He refuses to eat shrew since he picked out a bad one once when he was tiny. He fluffs out his tail when hes trying to contain his excitement.

Btw I genuinely think it's really funny how no one really caught onto the fact that the cat in Firekits dream was Thrushpaw. I was actually scared it was gonna be too obvious.
