In SOBH we find out Jaime has been stuck in faerie for awhile, so its likely that he didn’t actually age or at least aged slower. It’s likely that by the time twp rôles around they’ll be around the same age !

Also Emma and Julian are only two years older than Kit?? It’s so normal to have friends two years older than you 😭😭

MATTHEW AND ALASTAIR BOTH DESERVE A CRASHOUT FOR SIMILAR REASONS AND CASSIE DID THEM BOTH SO WRONG

Cassie writes amazing sibling relationships but at the same time she is an only child and it SHOWS

LIKE MATTHEW AND ALASTAIR BOTH END TLH IN KINDA THE SAME PLACE AND THEY MUST GAVE SOME RESENTMENT ABOUT IT

By the same place I mean they both are going to be PARENTS at the end of TLH 😭

LIKE ALASTAIR — spent his ENTIRE life protecting Cordelia from their father and preventing her from knowing about his alcoholism only for Cordelia to fuckoff with another Alcoholic (another tangent to go on) and then when Cordelia comes back and is in love with James and all is well and then Jordelia gets to fuckoff around the world on their travels while Alastair at age 18 is finally free of his father and Cordelia is happy and free but Alastair now has a new baby Zachary who he has to raise (like Sona is still Zachary’s mother yes, but she’s older and tired and not going to be as present of a parent).

THEN MATTHEW — so Charlotte and Henry are amazing people but they aren’t the best parents. Charlotte tries to be but it is hard to balance leading the clave with being a fully present mother. That being said Matthew also pushes her away for years due to the guilt he feels and Charlotte loves Matthew but she has no idea how to help her son through addiction. Then there’s Henry who although he is a loving father, he is also very lost in his own work and watching out for him falls to Matthew the majority of his life bc his mom and brother are too busy. We also see Matthew yearning for a relationship like James has with Will because Will is always the one to take care of James and not the other way around like Matthew and Henry.

That being said now that Matthew is sober at the end of TLH I think that he is going to be a main parental figure for the Twins. Since Henry couldn’t take care of Matthew, he most likely isn’t going to have gotten better 18 yrs later if not worse. Meanwhile Charlotte is on the older side to have two newborns, so even if she is going to be taking a step back from the Clave in order to be more present, she is still going to need a lot of help with the twins and who is going to be helping her but Matthew. Especially bc Matthew will still feel guilt about what happened with Charlotte’s last pregnancy so he will feel even more obligated to help with the twins and Charles is so career driven and more self centered that I doubt he is going to come back an help.

Also Matthew will want the twins to have more of a childhood than he had, and he will feel the need to be in a paternal roll to take care of them like he didn’t have. Even though I know Cassie says Matthew is sober and can go off on his travels and fall in love now, I don’t think he would abandon the twins bc he also knows that the twins would have to fall into the roll of taking care of their parents as they get older if Matthew is away and again Matthew would want them to have a childhood.

SO IN CONCLUSION MY BOYS BOTH DESERVE TO GO INTO TWENTIES FREE AND HAPPY AND NOT AS FATHERS TO THEIR SIBLINGS 😭😭

(And even though they love their parents and their younger siblings they deserve to have a crashout about it!!)

It’s giving me chain of gold flashbacks😭 I remember chain of gold was originally supposed to come out November 2019 but then it was pushed back to March 2020

One thing that breaks me is I think two year ago I tried rereading Lady Midnight but have to stop because I was SOBBING at this scene where they got Mark back and Julian has such a high hope that he got to share this burden with Mark to take care of their siblings and everything only to realize that HE needs to take care of Mark too.

AND IT WAS JUST SO SAD. Before that scene I kind of forget that Julian was stressing since the BEGINNING of Lady Midnight. He was just a boy and he was TIRED and the way he kind of mentally trying to accept another burden just — MY SHAYLAAAA.

just finished rereading red scrolls of magic and johnny rook is like gallivanting around europe... where was kit? is there any universe where he was a responsible enough parent to leave someone watching over his 10 year old or do we think he literally just left kit alone in the house the whole time

I agreeee tbh i really miss having other downworlders as part of the main gang!! Like we haven’t had since simon and maia in TMI, like I love all the faeries but I miss vamps and werewolves!!

It’d be interesting to see a shadowhunter get turned into a vampire or werewolf in TWP. Maybe not the main cast but I feel like TMI explored this concept the most. I think it would serve as a an interesting plot point that would further the cohort’s agenda. Perhaps them purposefully getting someone turned to use as anti-downworlder propaganda (taking a page out of Valentine’s book)
