I made this polnt on @noodleincident's post about Kristi Noem but I'm bringing it out more because I think it needs to be brought out more.
A lot of what the Trump administration and its various officials and henchpeople are doing is all about PR and social media clout chasing and bragging/rubbing it in the faces of others. I've said this more than once, but we are being governed by ragebait. That's not the primary purpose but it is also not just incidental either.
Additionally, and specifically, with Kristi Noem as Secretary of Homeland Security posting about "going on ICE raids" or posing in front of people getting their rights violated and being deported to an even worse human rights situation in a foreign country also governed by a chudtastic braggadocious dictator, her hair extensions and fake nails and fake tan and smokey eye and gold rolex is also about appealing to the base and, again, making ragebait content. MAGA and GOP fuckers WANT ICE Raid Leader Barbie. They WANT a sexualized patriarchal content creator combining their MILF and Schutzstaffel and 4chan fantasies into one neat and raging package for them (this feels like an offshoot of the whole "Republican Makeup" thing I mentioned previously).

We are being governed by right-wing content creators, and we need to think about and approach this moment in American and global politics and government with that in mind.
This is distinct from what we expected previously from Republicans and from his first term. There are nuances and distinctions within it, as that's a fairly large majority faction of the right now, but there are common uniting features.

A federal judge has barred state officials from enforcing a Florida law that would ban social media accounts for young children, while a legal challenge against the law plays out. U.S. District Judge Mark Walker issued the order Tuesday, blocking portions of the law from taking effect. The measure was one of the most restrictive bans in the U.S. on social media use by children when Gov. Ron DeSantis signed it into law in 2024. The law would ban social media accounts for children under 14 and require parental permission for their use by 14- and 15-year-olds.

I’ve seen people kindly asking where they can donate to help the victims of the attack on the Run for Their Lives group in Boulder.
You can donate here:
It’s a general security fund they’ve put together which will go directly to the victims and help pay for security.
Despite it all, we’re still having the annual Jewish Festival this Sunday, right on the same street where the attack was. So you all stay strong, too.

“He built up this totem of Cassian, this kind of voodoo doll, and the fact that he wasn’t even a blip on Cassian’s radar is crushing to him. He’s so desperate to be remembered and to make a difference, and it’s a cut too deep by that point. He’s been betrayed by Dedra and the Empire, and now his one true obsession doesn’t even think he’s worth remembering. He’s heartbroken.” - Kyle Soller

A Tennessee appeals court on Tuesday upheld the constitutionality of a law passed by the state’s Republican-controlled legislature to punish the Democratic-leaning city of Nashville by slashing the size of its council. The 2023 law aims to cut Nashville’s consolidated city-county governing council in half, from 40 members to 20. Although it was written to apply broadly statewide to both city and consolidated city-county governments, Nashville is the only Tennessee city meeting that definition with a council of more than 20 members.

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — A federal judge issued an order Wednesday to prevent the deportation of the wife and five children of an Egyptian man charged in the firebombing attack in Boulder, Colorado.
U.S. District Judge Gordon P. Gallagher granted a request from the family of Mohamed Sabry Soliman to halt deportation proceedings of his wife and five children who were taken into federal custody Tuesday by U.S. immigration officials.
The family members have not been charged in the attack on a group demonstrating for the release of Israeli hostages in Gaza. Soliman faces federal hate crime charges and state charges of attempted murder in the Sunday attack in downtown Boulder.
U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem said Wednesday that they are being processed for removal proceedings. It’s rare that family members of a person accused of a crime are detained and threatened with deportation.
Soliman’s wife, 18-year-old daughter, two minor sons and two minor daughters all are Egyptian citizens, the Department of Homeland Security said in a statement.
“We are investigating to what extent his family knew about this heinous attack, if they had knowledge of it, or if they provided support to it,” Noem said in a statement.
Noem also said federal authorities will immediately crack down on people who overstay their visas in response to the Boulder attack.
Soliman told authorities that no one, including his family, knew about his planned attack, according to court documents that, at times, spelled his name as “Mohammed.”
Earlier Wednesday, authorities raised the number of victims in the attack from 12 to 15, plus a dog.
Boulder County officials who provided the update said in a news release that the victims include eight women and seven men ranging in age from 25 to 88. The Associated Press on Wednesday sent an email to prosecutors seeking more details on the newly identified victims and the dog.
Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, had planned to kill all of the roughly 20 participants in Sunday’s demonstration at the popular Pearl Street pedestrian mall, but he threw just two of his 18 Molotov cocktails while yelling “Free Palestine,” police said. Soliman, an Egyptian man who federal authorities say has been living in the U.S. illegally, didn’t carry out his full plan “because he got scared and had never hurt anyone before,” police wrote in an affidavit.
According to an FBI affidavit, Soliman told police he was driven by a desire “to kill all Zionist people” — a reference to the movement to establish and protect a Jewish state in Israel. Authorities said he expressed no remorse about the attack.
A vigil is scheduled for Wednesday evening at the local Jewish community center.
