Mariah’s the type of person who will be the first one to tell you how ill-thought out your plan is, still go along with it, and help drag your sorry ass to the infirmary after it inevitably blows up in your face.

That is far beyond the point of fixation, I hope you know, and I thought you'd be smart enough to figure out that super glue is never going to stick that together.

That is probably not the smartest idea.

I don't know what your definition of excellent is, but you must not have very high standards.
Closest to factionless, Cooper.
That is probably not the smartest idea.
I was excellent in Dauntless thank you very much.
And just because I ranked last doesn’t mean that I’m dumb.

Don't come crying to me when it backfires.

You were as dumb as dirt in Dauntless; I can't see how that could've possibly changed since then.
That is probably not the smartest idea.
Well I have done this before. And I know that it works. Plus what do you know about my intelligence level?

Only something similar, but with your intelligence level, that's going to go downhill fast.
That is probably not the smartest idea.
How do you know? Have you ever tried it?

About Mariah
Mariah’s the type of person who will be the first one to tell you how ill-thought out your plan is, still go along with it, and help drag your sorry ass to the infirmary after it inevitably blows up in your face. She’s the token realist in the group, making sure people realize when they’re not actually invincible, despite their Dauntless-wired brains telling them otherwise. It’s a tough job with the meatheads she hangs out with, but someone’s gotta do it. Don’t take her speculation as hesitance, though. If you ask her to guard the door, she’ll purposely make sure you get caught, just to teach you a lesson. She’d much rather be right in the middle of the action than holding the coats while everyone else has all the fun.
Her Choice
Regardless of her aptitudes, Mariah had always planned on staying in Dauntless. Boyers just didn’t transfer, and Mariah wasn’t about to be the first in generations to transfer out. Bluntness and benevolence weren’t traits solely assigned to Candor and Abnegation, so why would she even consider transferring? Most of the time, she pretends she doesn’t even have those two aptitudes. The Dauntless one is the only one that’s relevant, and she doesn’t need her asshole factionmates treating her like a lesser human being just because she’s divergent.
Relationships
Penn Novak: Though they’re not technically together, pretty much everyone knows that they will be someday; it’s only a matter of time. If Penn ever makes his fucking move, that is. She knows he has a lot riding on initiation, but it’s not like she’s going to hold him back. Sure, she’s not exactly “Top Five” material, but she’s not a Stiff or a Peace Monger, either…so why is he playing her so hot and cold? Whatever the reason, if he doesn’t step up soon, she’s just going to move on. Or maybe she’ll just flirt with his archenemy a bit to try and get his juices flowing.
Gregory Warner: Honestly, Mariah just feels bad for the kid. Watching your dad take a swan dive into the Chasm at such a young age would be a traumatizing experience for anyone, she doesn’t blame him for suffering from whatever PTSD-like thing he has going on. She never voices this opinion, though. Cleaning up after everyone’s dumb asses is one thing, standing up for the current Dauntless punching bag is another. She’s still got a rep to protect, after all. She just hopes that her friends don’t try to get her in on the “fun”; she’s more than unsettled just by observing.
Giselle Boyer: Her older sister gets the grunt of Mariah’s lectures and eye rolls, seeing as she’s one of the most reckless people in the faction. Her efforts are always in vain, though, as Giselle honestly doesn’t give a shit. She lives for the thrills and broken bones, and sharing the experience with anyone who’s up for it is half the fun in her opinion. Mariah’s almost always the first person Giselle calls upon, trying to pull her out of her realist ways, even if it’s just for a few minutes. And even if she always has fun with her older sister, nine times out of ten things fall apart just as Mariah predicted before they even started.
