Concept Proposal 1

Concept 

My concept for this project is a modified hoodie crop top and legging that are covered in Neopixel. The Neopixel will displace different light patterns and animation based on movement. The garment will also have a color censor that will change the color of the Neopixel based on what color are shown.

If then statements 

If button on the board is pressed then animations start

If the button on sleeve is pressed then the color censors on both sleeves turn on

If censor determines color then Neopixel will change to that color

Speculative Proposal

I want to propose a furisode style kimono decorated with Neopixels that perform animation and have light sensors that detect color.

For my board I will use the Circuit Playground Bluefruit. I want the Bluetooth feature so I can change the pixel color on the app.  https://cdn-shop.adafruit.com/product-videos/1200x900/4333-07.mp4 I will be using the 60 pixel Neopixel strips so I can have more lights.

I will place the the circuits in a small pocket in the sleeve.

I want to simulate the Neopixel curtain by Phillip Burgess but on a garment.

CONCEPTUAL RESPONSE 1

The body parts that is the most that interest me the most fore this project are the torso and the legs. The reason for this is that for this project I want to use has much of the “canvas” as I can. I wouldn’t say I’m obsessed with this body part but it’s what I want to work on. The torso is what I want to focus on the most sense it has the most flat working space. With this I can express my idea perfectly.

The leg would be my second choice. For  this type of project I think the legs would be interesting to build off on. When most people would think of a wearable for legs they would thin of some sort of shoe or something that is connected to the foot. Also with legs comes movement which interests me. I am very interested in animation so naturally I’m interested in movement. On the human body it’s the legs that move the most wither it’s standing up, walking or even sitting for some people. This movement can also make other things move and I think it’s what I’m more interested in.

The first augmentation that I would like if it was possible is LEDs that could be put on skin. That idea intrigued me because we have LEDs that go on fabric so why not on skin. I can imagine a person with LEDs on there skin like a tattoo.

An other idea the not an augmentation is a wireless LEDs or Bluetooth LEDs. With this I could imagine have wearable where the Circuit board is on one part, hidden away from view and then LEDs are on or all round the piece. The thought of having ugly wire every where is unappealing to me and I hope one day it become reality or more commercial available.

The kind of style that I want to pursue is a street style. I am very inspired by street fashion mostly Japanese street fashion in places like Harujuku and Shibuya. This type of fashion interest me because event though street fashion is such a broad term it can really be anything. In Japanese street fashion for example there are many sub sections of this type of fashion that you can really find what you like. My favorite sub sections are Yankii which is based off American style have an almost sporty look with jumpsuit and a motorcycle gang look. Kimono style is also one I gravitate toward due to it being based of idea of mixing traditional Japanese clothing with modern fashion statements.

The technology that intrigue me the most are the Neopixel. Before this I don’t even know that something like that even exist. The idea when I first saw them came flooding to me. The fact that they are weather proof make them even more fun to use. I would like to use them on some sort of clothing with some sort of simple animation.
