See, while sitting down to replay the Super Mario Advance series, at quite the last moment, I realized there was one other handheld Mario Remake I'd never heard of.

So I quickly "grabbed a copy" and recorded my first impressions of it.

It didn't go so well, but I found things to enjoy. Full review of this and the Advance series This Saturday!

Leorio Finally Does What All Of Us Have Wanted To Do The Entire Time

Had to do the my MCP Hunter X Hunter homework (eps 140-142) a bit early this time around

This arc so far has really felt like a return to form, now with all the lessons garnered from the Chimera Ant arc. It's much more hectic in terms of pacing, we're getting real fights again, but they're back to being short and succinct. The politicking is just as fascinating as it was with the Ants, but now we're given the good nature wackiness with the re-introduction of Leorio.

And he punched out Ging Freecs with an audience of All the Hunters. Heck yea bro

The inter-family drama is the most interesting parts of these episodes though. Seeing how these assassin's and their not quite as deadly butlers are all scheming and plotting with and against one another, while doing wild car chases and running through the forest and having pleasant phone conversations is So Good.

And! We've got real women characters again! Canary's back, but now there's also Amane (i had to look up her name), and her motorcycle grandma! And Canary called Amane cute!?!?! Yuri? In Hunter X Hunter !

And while the culmination of that fight was kinda. Not bad, per se, but it was pretty obvious, and I never really cared for that guy that much. But it did give us the return of The Properties of Both Rubber and Gum™

Most importantly for last. God dang the Alluka line "Would you all get along better without me" MY HEART. OH MY PRECIOUS BABY GIRL, MY HEART. You're tearing it out!

I've only known Alluka for like five episodes but if anything happened to her I don't know what I'd do.

(I've also only known Canary for, like technically most of the show but she's also only been in a few and I desperately want her to survive too)

Happy Nintendo Switch 2 Launch Day!

Whether you got one or not, I think we can all agree the OG had some good games on it. And now that it's a useless console no better than a paperweight, I've ranked the top 25 games I played on it!

(of all the top n thumbnails I've made, this is by far the least misleading I've done) (there's only 3 characters up there who didn't make the list)

I can't sleep

Today after standing in line for a couple hours, I remember a realization I had during college

With few exceptions, nobody hates me. But also nobody really likes me either. I spent hours in the comp sci club room, talking to whomever. And it at least seemed like we enjoyed one another! But when one of us would leave, that'd be the end. I no longer took up space in their world.

Today was a microcosm, but it made me recall this truth. While it seems like I can get along with most anyone, I can never get them to actually want me around.

Hey You Should Check Out Hunter X Hunter This Show's Got So Many Games In It

Like they just finished an arc about a doomed couple who bonded over a game, then immediately introduced Two New Games (eps 137-139)

It feels a bit surreal being in the last arc of the anime. On one hand, it's going to be terribly sad when this year plus long adventure concludes. On the other, at least I've got whatever is going on in the manga to run to. But these voice actors, this music, this animation style, there's only nine left.

And both these points are strengthened by just how good this batch was. Right now this arc is leaning into Togashi's biggest strengths: games and weirdos. Everything with the election is delicious. Seeing Ging actually being a character has been great. He's just as crummy as our impression made him out to be, but now we get to see the motivations behind it. Of course he wouldn't actually raise a kid. That wouldn't be fun! Plus, if he abandoned him, imagine how much fun the kid would have going though his terrible no good "track me down" game (not to mention the literal Greed Island game)

And That Rat! I do not like that Rat! He's terrible in the completely opposite way that Netero was terrible! How can two horrid men be the antithesis of one another!

(Also, I don't think I've wrapped my head around Hunters just yet. Netero's the 13th chairman, but it kinda seemed like he invented Nen. Were there Hunters before Nen?)

I'm sorry, I need to admit something. The other day I was at a bookstore flipping through the HxH volumes that've been covered by the show. Picking up 29, I noticed much of it was late Chimera Ant stuff. So, wanting to see the final shots of Komugi and Short King, I picked up 30 to find those two brilliant illustrations. Only I wasn't paying close enough attention. I grabbed volume 31. Briefly flipping through it, I saw images that I now know must have been Killua carrying his little sister*

So close to the end, I apologize for spoiling myself with these few images.

Later, I did find 30 and looked up the scene I wanted. Gosh Dang Togashi can draw.

*Speaking of that Sister. I believe Killua referred to her with she/her, so that is how I will be referring her. What's up with the rest of the family though? It feels like it could be maybe not the best.

Also She's a Game, which, of course she is. Maybe the show reminded us the rules one too many times, but I'm really excited to see how it plays out.

Looking briefly on the new intro and outro. Love that Leorio can't stand up straight for the full credits. Excited to see a bunch of the Zoldyck characters doing big moves. And Hey! That end screen is Gon handing over Ging's hunter card!!!! Wadda hell!!!!!

It was so refreshing finally watching more of this show. It's been a full calendar month. And in six weeks it'll all be over.
