hello! friends, mutuals, followers, everyone! i don't know how to do this and i wish more than anything that i didn't have a reason to do it but i am officially desperate for help so here i am
my situation is this, last december my dad had a heart attack. he got along on meds for a while but last month he had another episode. he stayed at the hospital for a week, and he got a procedure (catheterization) done for 5.000 dollars. all our savings amounted to little more than a thousand, and the rest we had to borrow from four different family members. unfortunately, that procedure wasn't enough, it just showed that there's a very significant obstruction in his heart. the surgery he needs now (a coronary bypass) isn't even done in our city, we'll have to travel to another state and stay at least a week. the surgery costs 15.000 dollars
now you might know I'm venezuelan, and if you know anything about this country you probably know about the horrible economic crisis that's been going on for years. both of my parents are public workers, their salary literally equals about $8 monthly. there are bonuses and I have my job but that's only enough for us to get through each month. it's just impossible for us to get this kind of money, private loans would take everything we make together monthly in interests, none of our family members can loan us that much money, we already owe them. we keep messaging foundations and stuff but we're running out of options and i need to start asking for donations
any help, no matter how small, would make a huge difference for us. you'd be literally helping me save my dad's life. if we're friends, mutuals, just existing in this community together, if you've read my fics, smiled because of my posts, if you're just a kind person who could spare a little to help me, i would be so so so grateful forever and ever and ever 🙏
here's my paypal and ko-fi and thank you again <3

i actually think the way adult tai and shauna have so far treated one another this season (absently, selfishly, carelessly) is a credit to their deep friendship and not a failure of it. tai is obsessed with van and has limited time left with her. shauna is fixated on her paranoia. they're both grieving. neither wants to be clocked doing it! both trusts that the other will still be their friend afterwards. yeah, tai isn't there for shauna when she's starting to lose it. shauna isn't there for tai when van is in the hospital. love built on trust and understanding without judgment isn't always perfect but you do know you can come back to it eventually like a home. even when they are failing one another by choice or accident, they're still the only yellowjackets who are really, honestly best friends forever

nevermind just thinking about every single Yellowjacket wanting acceptance and family and community so desperately but not having childhoods where they were taught what that actually looks like so they accidentally end up destroying every chance they get at finally having it
#i'm actually obsessed with the almost total absence of everyone's family from the narrative#and i actually think it speaks absolute volumes as a deliberate omission#yellowjackets

Don't understand why people get so annoyed at Shauna for not being able to see that Jackie loved her. It's not as simple as Shauna being dense or self-obsessed. Like doesn't that just make you sad? Doesn't your heart hurt when Shauna asks Melissa why she even likes her? Why do you think she begs Jeff to tell her he loves her, even when she knows he doesn't mean it? She has two emotionally/physically distant parents, seemingly no siblings, and a best friend who (whatever her reasons) kept Shauna at arms length emotionally. Is it any wonder Shauna thinks she is fundamentally unlovable? She self-sabotages in her relationships because she just can't ever let herself believe the other person truly cares as much about her as she does them.
#oh no not me welling up at this#no i don't identify with shauna too much. shhh#shauna the fucking queen#yellowjackets

“i don’t get hannibal lecter” it’s about being the worst person in the world and yet someone still loves you despite it and it’s about convincing yourself you’re fine living your life alone and never truly connecting with anyone until someone comes along and you realize you could never live without them now and it’s about caring about someone so deeply that all you want now is for them to truly see you and it’s about how your devotion is so crushing and deep that you’d go to lengths of even self-destruction just to keep them around so you can keep loving them. “but he’s a cannibal” lol yeah

I know pre-crash Lottie is considered hard to characterise because we don't get much time with her, and Lottie does go through a clear shift due to her grief and slipping into psychosis, but I do think we know enough. Ultimately, she's who she always was; outwardly confident, single-minded, idealistic, deeply caring, and desperate for people to open up to her, all whilst being hesitant to open up to them in return for fear of being rejected. We see it in the way she carries herself in the Pilot, in Nat saying she only talks shit when people deserve it, and, conversely, how lonely she appears in her family home. A child eating breakfast alone at dining room table meant for eight. Is it any wonder her room is full of photos of the team pre-crash, perhaps the closest thing she ever had to her idealistic understanding of family. She likely claims Shauna's baby as "ours" because of this same compulsion, a desire to finally have the family she's always wanted. Creates a community in her adult life, and pulls Nat into it because she knows Nat's alone too. Because she's always known Nat wants the same thing, a proper home; both of them identifying that truth in each other though they can't bring themselves to voice it. The only time Lottie even comes close to acknowledging it is when she asks Nat what she has to go home to.
All Lottie's ever wanted is to give the people she cares about what she believes they need, even if it's not what they want. Even if they might hate her for it. She cares too deeply to do anything less. I think it's been made clear, the wilderness didn't change any of them fundamentally, it just uncovered a truth or potential in each of them that was already present. Lottie's desire for family and community has always been at the root of almost every descision she makes, and that didn't start in the wilderness. Her relentlessness, desire to protect "her own", and ability to see fundamental truth, didn't start in the wilderness. Lottie has always been Lottie, with her core traits and desires exactly what they always were. She just expresses herself differently as her perception of reality changes.

how could anyone ever say natalie didn’t love misty when she knew misty broke the transponder on purpose, kept it a secret to protect misty until her last breath, drove across the state with misty despite knowing that misty tampered with her car, forgives her again and again and again, and ends up laughing about every insane thing misty does to her in the end (*cough cough* playfully teasing misty about the hidden camera and smiling about it when misty eventually finds natalie and refuses to leave her) oh! and she looks at her like THIS.
in BOTH timelines.
it’s actually crazy to me that people think mistynat is unrequited. like…have you seen nat’s face when she looks at misty????

shauna shipman has got to be one of the most interesting characters of all time. she’s bisexual. or jackiesexual. she keeps up with goth culture. she listens to weezer and the cranberries. she’s incredibly pretentious. she decides to pull out a gun on her teammate also ex girlfriend to prove she’s not insane. she owns a minivan. she drinks malibu and milk. she tries to seduce her husband with a british accent. she engages in adult cannibalism. she even loves cats.

*leaning into the microphone* “jackie was a shitty friend sometimes, she was insensitive and selfish, and ignoring these qualities in order to make shauna seem worse completely disregards the importance of jackie’s character”
