The First Trailer for ‘Loving Vincent,’ an Animated Film Featuring 12 Oil Paintings per Second by Over 100 Painters
The first trailer for Loving Vincent (previously) was just released and it promises stunning visuals in a novel format: the film was created from a staggering 12 oil paintings per second in styles inspired by the famous Dutch painter’s brushstrokes. The upcoming movie will detail the story of Van Gogh’s life leading up to the tumultuous time surrounding his death some 125 years ago. According to the filmmakers, over 100 painters have contributed frames to the ambitious feature-length film that is still in progress at their headquarters in Gdansk, Poland. The film is currently being produced by Oscar-winning studios BreakThru Films and Trademark Films, and you can follow their progress or even get involved yourself on their website. Thanks Colossal

Joseph Walsh
Joseph Walsh (1979, Ireland) is a self-taught Irish furniture maker. His ability to morph wood into fluid, ribbon-like, intricate forms makes him stand out from the rest of the furniture crowd. Walsh gets his inspiration from his interests in nature and tactile aesthetic forms. He has been recognized internationally but still chooses to remain in his homeland of Ireland. “We have control of the environment and space here,” he says, “It is great because you have these reference points. It keeps your feet on the ground, but gives so much back.”

BOYD & EVANS
British artists Boyd & Evans (Fionnuala Boyd and Les Evans) have worked collaboratively since 1968, producing paintings and photographs.
Boyd and Evans started working together in 1968. They have travelled extensively to find images for their work, including periods in the Malaysian Peninsula and Borneo. Their most enduring obsession though is with the landscape of the United States (particularly the South West). This research has formed the majority of their artistic output whether it be painting or photography.
Although probably better known as painters, photography has always been a serious integral part of their practice. To start with their photographs were mainly source material for the paintings, capturing images when it wasn’t practical to paint them. But recent years have seen a shift in their work. Extensive research and experimentation have resulted in an increasing understanding of how photographs can be reformed to convey the essence and substance of a landscape which otherwise could only have existed in their mind’s eye or as pigment laid down on canvas.
