This is the first set up for the smart meter (the physical build that is). I copied down some basic code to make it work and removed the screen until I know I can make it work. While the code is running well and the sensor seems to be working (it responded to when I open and close it), I still have yet to read the AC current of cords successfully.
I tried reading the current going through my lava lamp and a few other cords in my room without success, but I’m still optimistic about it working. I just need to re-review the code and make sure I choose actual AC devices to test it on.

When researching this project I found this video of a guy doing exactly what I wanted to build. Obviously I’m adding a lot of other features to my design but I will be using this as the base of what I’m building.
This week specifically, I want to build this base as well as begin testing its capabilities

For my senior year of High school I am working on building a smart meter for one of my classes. The purpose of this smart meter is to easily be attached to a houses electrical box and show the we energy usage and price spent on energy in real time. So far I’ve been working on the design and how it will work and now I’m working on actually building it

New Years
As the new year arrives and college comes around the corner, I would like to log all the work I do regarding my engineering endeavors. I want to make this blog a place to ask for help as well as to provide help involving engineering and I can't wait to see where the year takes this!
