Shadow Leviathan - Subnautica
A Leviathan class species, this giant behemoth of a beast lurks in the deep seas, hiding in the shadows to strike for prey. Its mouth is bioluminescent, likely to attract its prey, in which it can quickly and effortlessly consume it.

Spinner Fish - Subnautica
One of the most bizarre creatures in Below Zero, this fish moves about by projecting gases which allows it to spin, and uses its fins to guide itself through the waves of the ocean, it's a little similar to how squids have jets.

Gannet Whales - The Future is Wild
One of the early species of a post-human Earth, these birds behave a lot like seals, as they basically flap about near beaches and go in the sea to feed on fish. They are so huge that even potential predators become unmotivated to hunt them, as it would be too much of a hassle.

Rainbow Squid - The Future is Wild
This humongous squid is an intelligent species that has pigment sacks of a far greater capacity than what we have today. They are an evolution of Squids of our day and it's camouflage abilities is so good that it can mimic the very water and waves around it, making it invisible to predators even if it's huge and right in the middle of the ocean. It also can use it's pigments to create crazy light shows that ward off predators if they get too close to it.

Discus Fish - Subnautica
This bizarre looking cyclops fish has a green body, like so because it has a symbiotic relationship with the plankton of the sea. These planktons photosynthesise, which gives the fish the food it needs to live, as well as the plankton in it's body.

Floaters - Subnautica
This is probably one of the most bizarre alien creatures in the game, as they have the uncanny ability to levitate whatever it's attach to, regardless of weight, as it can hold a piece of land in between the surface of the ocean and the bottom of it.

Mesmer - Subnautica
A really cool creature that when the player gets close, it uses it's shifting colours to hypnotise them before trying to eat them, but because we are so big compared to them, all they do is nibble the nose.

There are a lot of sea creatures in the Subnautica games, where the main goal as a human explorer is to uncover the sea world he has been located to and discover all the vast amounts of species that have evolved from this very planet.

Bioluminescence in sea creatures
Creatures in the deep depths of the sea use bioluminescence to confuse their predators or bait out their prey, having such light sources also makes it easier to see in the pitch black.

Bioluminescence
One of the coolest phenomena that occurs in occasions is the ocean in the area between Japan and Australia glows bright blue at night. The reason this occurs is because of the bioluminescence from the micro organisms inside the water, which there's a lot of and because there's a lot they make the ocean glow bright.

Jean-Claude comic artwork
unlike Moebius, his work is the exact opposite, where it's really optimistic and Hi-Tech, but lacking in colour that would solidify the feelings of those two.

Moebius artwork
One of the artists of The Fifth Element, a lot of his work with comics is focused on creating a sort of Lo-Tech urban environment like the communities in London, with the Hi-Tech aesthetic of something like cyberpunk, creating something that's colourful and futuristic as it is grounded and rough. I believe that with the advancements in technology, there'd be all kinds of communities and groups in towns that continue to diverge and evolve, and this piece of work makes me imagine what a future would look like for Britain...if we get one that is.

Tira - Swamp Hunter - Charlotte Veldhuizen
Tira seems like a really interesting planet, because there's alsio red triple leave'd trees but also seal-crab creatures and other bizarre things of that sort. I like that there's a reoccurring theme of these creatures being multi-eyed and have extending appendages. I also like that the water us green rasther than the typical blue, showing that it's richer in plankton and other organisms.

Stratchbuilt spaceships
youtube
It is completely possible to create something out of the scraps of other things, and in most cases before CGI, it was what a lot of artists did when making spaceship designs.
I love the shape of this spaceship, reminds me of one of those aliens I was talking about, except it's a spaceship, and it has loads more detail because of the more complicated nature of artificial creations.
I especially love the solar panels at the back, which makes it look more threatening and rough.

Chris Foss drawing
youtube
One of the things he does really well with his work is that it has a sort of unpredictablility to the type of shapes he makes. he doesn't stick with completed sections and sometimes removes parts to make the thing look like parts are falling off, or the thing is being pulled apart by the FTL travel. He also uses extremely bright colours which create an almost psychedelic atmosphere.

Tira - The Herd - Charlotte Veldhuizen
Now I'm not usually into ground animals, but Charlotte somehow turned this familiar concept and make it wonderful even to me. I just love the large creatures at the back, something about them is super unique and nothing like I've seen before. They have little antennas on the top, they have grasshopper like front arms, which then has giraffe like back arms and the rest looks like a mix between a zebra and a rhino. I also love that the leader has a white fluffy top body, but then has a contrasting dark skin with streaks of white on its back.
The little creatures are also really cool, they sort of look exposed like they don't have any skin, just sticking out muscles. looks like a hybrid between the Berserker from XCOM 2, a dog, and a crab.

Tripod - Charlotte Veldhuizen
This is by far one of my favourite alien designs I've ever seen, so much so that I have definitely stolen the cdesign for my own aliens. The sticking out cylindrical eyes, the vibrasnt colouring on its skin, the unique three legs with two of them being like frog feet, the long tongue, the unique anchor style head shape, it reminds me of those grey aliens if it was to be realistically portrayed in it's bizarreness.
