He chuckles, a somewhat sad shake of his head being the response. "Yeah... That's normal, this island changes more than the weather. My entire house disappeared over night." A shrug. "You kind of get used to it. I admit, it's fun sometimes... Keeps you on your toes!"

          “ fun ?  that sounds like some existential stuff , dude.  are you like . . . i--- ” the expression on his face tells it all.  the furrowed brows , the blinking , his mouth obviously trying to form words that just won’t work.  “ i dunno if i’d call that fun.  sounds more scary than anything. ”

"Yeah, sorry about that, man... I'm still pretty shy around crowds, but next time, for sure!" He chuckles. "And sure, I can remember Nate pretty easily... So... What do you do for fun?"

          “ s’all good , don’t worry.  i dunno much around here yet besides the club over in the ice age and the golf course was nice---  while it lasted , i mean.  does stuff usually just disappear like that ?  one day it’s here ‘n’ then over night it’s just . . . gone ? ”

"Goin' good, thanks for asking... I just figured I'd introduce myself to you... I wasn't at the venue, but I heard great things about it, and figured a newcomer like yourself would appreciate the welcome," He extends a friendly hand in greeting. "I'm Dimitri... And you are?"

          to return the favor , he turns quickly to sit the bag of food on the picnic table behind him and tucks his phone into the pocket of his hoodie beforehand.  a firm shake joined by a smile and the nod of his head - only his expression falters a bit , “ oh--- i mean - no biggie , for sure.  i’m nate , but you can call me mello or whatever you want me to go by , dude.  all the same to me. ”

          “ are y--- ”  he stops himself short , a hint of a grin on his face and the quiet sound of a laugh under his breath.  nate narrows his eyes to a squint , crosses his arms in contemplation , “ are you . . . tryin’ to hit on me ? ”

"Hello!"

          he’s seen him somewhere before - surely - but somewhere besides the venue they had set up at pleasant park.  right now , nate is standing outside the burger joint in retail row with a bagged order for lunch and his eyes focused on the screen of his phone - but as any polite boy would do , he gives his full and undivided attention to dimitri.

          “ hey , man - how’s it goin’ ? ”

happiness headcanons !

5. Write a drabble of one of their happiest memories.

          one of his happiest memories ; his first day on the island.  setting foot in a new place such as this for the first time ever was exhilarating - somewhere that didn’t seem to get many visitors or tourists , just somewhere to relax and lay low for a while.  nate steps off the boat and onto the soil and something in the air smells sweet despite the cool breeze that prompts him to bundle tighter to himself.  hands reach to pull hood up over his ears , a quiet sniff as they move back down to clutch bags.  the ground is crisp as if there’s a freshly fallen frost that just isn’t visible but with it being this early in the morning , that’s the least of his concerns.

          when he gets to the hotel , his eyes catch something off to the right side and his head turns to see a store lined in neon lights.  with the morning light not quite meeting the rest of this town , the ambiance of an empty space with the dawning dimness of morning fills his stomach with something akin to butterflies.  nate shakes his head , rids himself of the feeling if only for a moment as he steps through the doors of the hotel and to the front desk.  there’s a girl there with glasses.  she’s very tidy and very awake for it to be nearly five thirty ; oddly cheerful but pleasant nonetheless.  she gives him a polite grin , asks him for his information , but upon him answering - it’s evident in her face that her heart is fluttering.  nate’s cheeks turn red and start to burn because he feels like he knows what’s coming next , but she just nods and slides a key card across the bar to him without saying another word.  grateful , he takes it , turns , and heads for the stairs.  

          three flights - three stories.  he isn’t complaining , though , he’s needed the exercise and packing it all in to one day isn’t as bad as it sounds , despite his wishes for a nap when he’s settled in.  nate reaches his room after a few minutes , slides the card , and upon opening the door - he has to stop and take a breath , letting it sink in.  his home - for now , at least - is a fairly big room.  there’s a kitchen to the right - a bathroom to the left - and a bed big enough for him and two others on the far side.  nate leaves his bags by the door , kicks his shoes off , digs in his backpack for his laptop , and heads for the bed.

          comfortable , finally , after what seems like eternity trying to get warm , the DJ opens his laptop to continue work on a document he’s had saved for months now ( and has just found the inspiration to finish ) , but gets nowhere as his eyes begin to close and he dozes off into a deep sleep.

definitely a text message.  he can be in public and receive a text message from any of his friends and his face instantly lights up.  the group chat is the best.

8. What would make them happier? Winning a ton of money or meeting their potential soul mate?

definitely soul mate.  but maybe not in a way everyone thinks but more like . . . along the lines of friends and anyone who is kind and supportive and enjoys his company.

nate tries to be as optimistic as he can at all times.  you will never catch him making self deprecating comments or mentioning how things could go wrong.  even if it’s hard , he does his best to keep a positive mindset !

he makes hard attempts to keep a quiet laugh but when he finds something really funny , he can’t hide it.  his laugh is soft , anyway , and gentle in the way it isn’t wild or overwhelming in the slightest.

15. Your muse just got good news! How do they celebrate?

the second nate gets good news , catch him standing in disbelief for a second or two before bounding to attention and trying not to really make a big deal out of it but his sheer excitement kinda just bursts through anyway.  he’s the epitome of the starry eyed emoji.
