we as a society don’t talk enough about how similar Sharpay and Taylor are: they’re both ambitious, intelligent, hard working, strong believers in the status quo in HSM1, and see themselves as superior

like i want you to imagine a theatre or basketball kid suddenly decides to join the Chem Club without any prior experience but while taking chem class they liked it and found out that they’re really good at it. Taylor would 100% hate them and do the same thing Sharpay did, you can’t convince me otherwise. she looks down on the basketball boys severely and it’s clear she detests Sharpay—if either group tried to join her turf and become the new chem president or something, she’d be furious.

this isn’t me hating on Taylor btw because the difference between her and Sharpay is that Taylor learned where she went wrong and apologized while Sharpay continues to be immature. it’s just in HSM1 where i think Taylor is a bad person, but tbh? i could see her having the same reaction to the Chem Club scenario i described in both HSM2 and 3; she’s not a horrible person or anything but since her character isn’t given much spotlight it’s hard to gauge precisely where she stands. regardless, i think it’s a very interesting comparison, and it’s a shame we never get to see them interact one-on-one.

i love how in every high school musical movie they were like... so troy has to have an extremely dramatic breakdown song, gabriella gets a melodramatic breakup song, and sharpay gets a musical number where she just slays as hard as possible for no reason whatsoever
