Gregory of Nazianzus: One must believe that Mary is the Mother of God
Gregory of Nazianzus, known as "the Theologian", was bishop of Constantinople from 379 to 381. He took part in the Council of Constantinople in AD 381 . Even before the Council of Ephesus in 431, which affirmed Mary is rightly to be called the "Mother of God" (Theotokos) because Jesus' human nature cannot be separated from the divine nature, Gregory of Nazianzus used the title "Mother of God" in a clear and dogmatically profound way:
"If anyone does not believe that Holy Mary is the Mother of God, he is severed from the Godhead. If anyone should assert that He passed through the Virgin as through a channel, and was not at once divinely and humanly formed in her (divinely, because without the intervention of a man; humanly, because in accordance with the laws of gestation), he is in like manner godless. If any assert that the Manhood was formed and afterward was clothed with the Godhead, he too is to be condemned.
If any introduce the notion of Two Sons, one of God the Father, the other of the Mother, and discredits the Unity and Identity, may he lose his part in the adoption promised to those who believe aright.
For God and Man are two natures, as also soul and body are; but there are not two Sons or two Gods.
If any should say that it wrought in Him by grace as in a Prophet, but was not and is not united with Him in Essence—let him be empty of the Higher Energy, or rather full of the opposite. If any worship not the Crucified, let him be Anathema and be numbered among the Deicides.
If any assert that He was made perfect by works, or that after His Baptism, or after His Resurrection from the dead, He was counted worthy of an adoptive Sonship, like those whom the Greeks interpolate as added to the ranks of the gods, let him be anathema.
If anyone assert that His flesh came down from heaven, and is not from hence, nor of us though above us, let him be anathema.
If anyone has put his trust in Him as a Man without a human mind, he is really bereft of mind, and quite unworthy of salvation. For that which He has not assumed He has not healed; but that which is united to His Godhead is also saved."

Delivered from the flames of Purgatory by the Rosary
In the kingdom of Aragon (Spain), there lived a young girl named Alexandra. She had often attended Saint Dominic's sermons, and eventually joined the Confraternity of the Rosary. However, this passionate young woman too often forgot to say her Rosary as she should.
When two young men fought a duel and killed each other over her, their families threw themselves on Alexandra, killing her in their fury and throwing her corpse into a well.
However, the Queen of the Rosary did not forget Alexandra's devotion to her. She inspired St. Dominic to go and resurrect her. Having come to the well, the saint called out to her: “Alexandra, come outside!" O prodigy! The dead woman came back to life, and emerged fully alive, in front of the immense crowd present at this miracle.
The resurrected woman threw herself at the saint's feet, and told him that at the moment of expiring, she had obtained the gift of contrition, thanks to the merits of the Confraternity of the Rosary; that the demons wanted to take her soul to hell, but that Mary had come to deliver her; that she was condemned to two hundred years of purgatory, for the death of the two young men, and to a further five hundred years for having been, through her fault, an occasion of sin to many people; but that she hoped that the members of the Rosary confraternity would shorten her sentence by pleading with Mary.
The woman’s hopes were not disappointed. She died again, and after a fortnight appeared radiantly to Saint Dominic. She told him to thank the confreres, who had been so many benefactors to her, and who by their suffrages had hastened her deliverance.
She added that she had come as ambassador for the souls in purgatory, to urge the saint to preach and extend the devotion of the Rosary, which brought them admirable relief every day. “May the confreres”, she said, "apply to these poor souls the indulgences and spiritual favors of which they possess such an abundant treasure! They will lose nothing, for the elect, in turn, will intercede for them in heaven. The Angels rejoice in this devotion, and their Queen has declared herself the tender Mother of all who embrace it."
Thus spoke this soul, about to enter glory. Saint Dominic himself recounted this revelation. Let us resolve, then, to recite the Rosary often in favor of the souls in Purgatory. These souls are thirsty: the Rosary opens up a spring of living water for them.

Vanessa Benavente: "I want to be a mother like Maria".
Vanessa Benavente is the actress who plays the Virgin Mary in "The Chosen," the hit series that premieres its fifth season in Spanish theaters on April 10. In this interview with Omnes, Vanessa talks about what she has learned playing the Mother of Jesus.
"I find Maria very inspiring," says Vanessa. She sees in her "a person with a wonderful strength, determined, full of love, lacking in judgment and who embodies that idea that we all deserve love."
The actress says that she cannot help but learn from her character and what she observes "I take it back to me, to my home". Vanessa has two daughters and, inspired by María, she seeks to transmit something essential to her daughters: "They can make mistakes five hundred times, we, as their parents, will continue to love them. But we don't love them because they do things right, but because they are them."
The Mother of Jesus represents this perfectly and Benavente highlights in particular: "a scene in which Mary Magdalene returns to the camp after relapsing into 'her past wanderings'. Mary Mother grabs her handkerchief and puts it on as if to restore her dignity, to signal that she is accepted again and can move on."
With all these reasons, Vanessa Benavente states: "I want to be a mother like Mary, who creates safe places where others can get back on their feet."
