Meet Ahmad Aldany
Ahmad Aldany is a disabled teenager living in Gaza. He was born into this world already a victim of the Israeli occupation, with lifelong health conditions impacting his bones from exposure in utero to gas from a phosphorus bomb fired in 2008.
Two years ago, Israel destroyed his home and displaced his family, forcing them, like so many other Palestinians, into a life of instability--moving from place to place in search of safety.
He witnessed horrific scenes no child should ever see: destruction, and constant fear. Ahmed wakes up at night to the sound of explosions and screams at the top of his voice because he is afraid.
The healthcare infrastructure was decimated, leaving him unable to receive the treatment he needs for his disability.
Now, the famine has become so severe that he goes long days without eating.
Donate to His Campaign
He started a campaign to raise funds for food, medicine, and to eventually travel to safety.
VETTED: @gazavetters in line (#198)
Ahmed has raised €5,240 so far, but he needs much more to be able to secure afford food for his family, get the treatment he needs, and eventually get to safety.
Share his story
He needs visibility on his campaign. Please donate what you can, share this message, and if you can, offer to write him a post to share his story with others.

BBC On Gaza-Israel: One Story, Double Standards
The most comprehensive analysis of the BBC’s coverage of Israel’s war on Gaza reveals a systematic pattern: the minimisation of Palestinian suffering and perspectives and the amplification of Israeli narratives, victimisation and emotive stories. The study, conducted by the Centre for Media Monitoring, analysed 3,873 articles and 32,092 broadcast segments from 7 October 2023 to 6 October 2024, alongside comparative analysis of 7,748 articles on the Ukraine conflict. During the analysis period, 42,010 Palestinians and 1,246 Israelis were killed – a 34:1 ratio that provides crucial context for assessing the impartiality of the BBC’s coverage. It also used extensive case studies extending into 2025. The report reveals a systematic omission of key historical and contemporary context that has acquired an institutional quality at the BBC. Whether this be overlooking the genocidal rhetoric of Israeli leaders – now referenced in war crimes charges against them – or properly scrutinising Israeli claims and denials in the face of ethnic cleansing and other war crimes, the BBC have simply underreported what is now overwhelmingly being seen as a ‘live-streamed genocide’ and crimes against humanity.

If you did answer this poll, please take a second to stop scrolling.
If you haven't already heard Israel is still attempting to block aid going to Gaza and even threatening people over it. It is also Eid al-Adha, a holiday in which large feasts are prepared.
There are a lot of people sharing campaigns to donate money for food and other necessities for survival in Gaza. I am sharing Nader's family's campaign.
This is a small way to help make a big difference in a family's life struggling for survival under occupation. Every donation counts.

as a CHRONIC em dash user (who uses it so frequently it becomes a point of criticism in many of the writers workshops I participate in) . What the fuck 😭😭😭😭
"this is DEFINITELY written by AI, I can tell because it uses the writing quirks that AI uses (because it was trained on real people who write with those quirks)"
c'mon dudes we have got to do better than this

my best advice to other writers is to write and I know that's all anybody says and all anybody says AGAIN is "that's all anybody says" but the thing stopping you from writing is yourself. When you stare at that blank google doc or notes app page just write. It doesn't have to be productive. It doesn't have to be your 104k word sci-fi dystopian concept novel or the fanfic you've been putting off (even though I must tell you to Just Write both of those). Even if you don't want to. Your brain is probably lying to you. I find that when I have free time my brain goes "writing is such a huge thing. I don't really have the time. It's such a huge investment" but it doesn't have to be. That just isn't true. You can literally do that. It feels imposing because in your mind there's an arbitrary consequence to the concentrated effort it requires to be creative when really that shit will always make you happy in the end. and the moment that you do, truly write, that you make that effort to get a page down, and it doesn't make you happy, or at least satisfied? You just never get into the groove at all - when you get over that initial hurdle of Committing and it still feels awful? That is when there is a problem, and you should reflect on that.
