This is the cover for the Butterfly and Her Gale novel. Unlike last time, [for the Lightning The Argent novel], I used Copic markers exclusively for this one. At first, when I showed a rough sketch of the cover to the person in charge, he said, “This is the first time you can’t see the face of the character.” At that time, I was tired of illustration work with a focus only on character figures, and I wanted to draw a picture like a “snapshot” of a part of a character. Even so, I’m glad I did this. Chipp is a background character with a lot of personality, and I felt that both his scrappy face and genuine expressions missed the mark in telling his story accurately in this novel.
