DIY Rainbow Thistle Decoration
Tumblr media
This is a fun home decor craft to brighten up your home. I spray painted some dried thistles the colour of the rainbow and made small wooden vases for them to sit on my mantle. You could almost call this a Burns Night craft as the thistle is the national flower of Scotland. See the full tutorial here.

Mandala Floor Stencils And Painting Tutorials
These mandala floor designs are amazing and are a great way to show off a boho or bohemian design. Don’t have a flair for painting? Don’t worry, they now make mandala stencils in varying designs and sizes.
A mandala is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism, representing the universe. In common use, “mandala” has become a generic term for any diagram, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically; a microcosm of the universe.Wikipedia
Large mandala stencil
This design is from cutting edge stencils
This design is done with staining rather than paint and it freehand not a stencil.
Making your own painted floor designs is a great way to save money and to decorate your home on a budget. Make sure you draw out your design on paper first to get an idea of where you want it and how big you want it to look.
Don’t be tempted to use only white, try making your mandala with bright colors to suit your decor. You can use the same stencils to create mandala tables and wall pieces too.
I really love the stained DIY mandala floor, not only do you save money by not having to buy a stencil, but it also looks very natural and rustic too. This would be a nice style to do on a coffee table or workbench. DIY mandalas really are not that hard, just start with a circle and 1/4 out your design and repeat over and over again. Adding larger accents as you work out from the middle of the DIY Mandala design. You can layer small mandalas on your floor or create a huge single mandala that spans out right across an outdoor deck or patio.

Amazing Painted Deck By AlisaBourke
Alisa Bourke has made a huge impact on social media with her painted deck and who could blame everyone for falling in love with it. It takes creative confidence to decide to embark on such a big project. Of course the final result is amazing and you can click through to her blog to see even more amazing photos. Would you tackle a big project like this? Could you make a decision on such a BOLD design? I mean once this has been done there is no hiding it its a in your face design. The key to making big bold paint projects like this work is “color” and lots of it. Load the area with more color, yes you can never have too much color.
No matter what your design make sure you take the right preparation steps to create your outdoor painted flooring. Unsure what paints to use? head to your local hardware store and tell them what your surface is and how much traffic the area will get. Finish off with a durable sealer and your artwork will last a decade.

Amazing DIY Painted Faux Floor Rugs
Painted floor rugs are not only amazing to look at but they are practical in so many ways too. Have you ever wanted a rug in a outdoor weathered area? perhaps it’s a high traffic area where too many pairs of feet are walking, tripping and stepping over? Then hand painted or stencilled floor rugs are the perfect DIY solution.
It really isn’t as hard as it appears, you can use block colors like the faux staircase rug or use large stencils for intricate designs. The key to making these painted faux floor rugs is all in the finishing preparation. You need your DIY painted rug to last. You will need to seal with a clear sealer to help prevent paint chipping. Take a trip to your local hardware store for the best DIY paint advice from the experts. Tell them what your paint surface is and have them show you the best paint to and sealer to use.
Making your own painted faux floor rugs is a great way to save money and to decorate your home on a budget. Make sure you draw out your design on paper first to get an idea of where you want it and how big you want it to look. For more advanced painters, consider adding some tucks and dimension with shadowing to make your painted faux rug look even more realistic.
Finally a rug that is easy to keep clean, perfect for homes with toddlers and kids. I mean kids of all ages make a mess right. How about painting a white shag pile rug in your living room, no kid is going to damage that one.
This bright colored floor rug is by Beautiful Mess, and isn’t it just that, Beautiful!
A simple block design adds dimension to this staircase without the hazard of tripping.
A more simple design with painted mandalas has this faux painted floor rug looking easy.
This Faux floor rug is painted directly on to concrete and it looks amazing.
You will need to layer your stencils and colors to get this intricate painted floor rug design, but it is well worth the look.
Bright and colorful this Faux floor rug would be lovely hand painted DIY on to a toy room floor, no worries about kiddie spills with this rug
Love the traditional look of this faux rug, I literally had to zoom in the be sure. You can grab the pattern here.
Stencils make this Henna Mehndi design a breeze and you can see the stencils here.
