With the number of classes Summer had taken that semester, coffee had become her new best friend, and even though it wasn’t the best tasting in the world the machine was always reliable. Pouring herself a cup in the dining hall, an eyebrow raised as the other girl walked in the room. “Mm, just mildly insane, so I’d say like a four,” she joked, taking the cup from the machine. “Maybe you need this more than I do.”
Isla laughed along too, eyeing the girl’s cup and deciding it would probably best to make herself a cup of her own. Despite the JITTERS that coffee gave her, the fact that she was running off of two hours of sleep overruled the court of judgement in her mind. “ A four ? That means I’ve improved, ” she joked. “ But maybe if I make coffee, the wait will be long enough to remind me of whatever I managed to forget. ”

Adrian had been lazing around in one of the common rooms, surrounded by a few of the football players as she watched them laugh at whatever joke she made, even if it wasn’t too funny though she reveled in the attention, being at the center of their attention and affections, it made her feel like she was worth something. Glancing up when she heard another female voice speaking, arching an eyebrow at her. “You’re talking to yourself.” She pointed, untangling her legs from one of the males laps and sitting up. “but it’s only if the voices start talking back that you’re truly crazy.”
“ I mean, that was supposed to be rhetorical but fair point, ” she joked, but it sounded more like a CUT than anything. Isla watched the girl sit up, dropping her hands to her side. “ Luckily that hasn’t happened yet. ”

Prepping on the stage for her next debate competition she was surprised to hear another voice enter the auditorium. “That happens to best of us, I suppose.” While she couldn’t remember the last time she had forgotten whatever she was doing, the occurrence wasn’t too unfamiliar for her. “Honestly? You’re at a solid nine,” she replied, eyes trailing the girl’s figure. “You look like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders and then some.
She let out a small breathy laugh, nodding at the girl’s assumption. “ A nine fits about how I feel stress wise right now. ” She took a few steps, hoping that perhaps if she looked around the auditorium something would click. It was obviously something theatre related, it had just slipped from her WHAT exactly. “ I wouldn’t say then some, but the world for sure, ” she joked. Noticing what the other girl was doing, she paused. “ Sorry if I’m interrupting you. ”Â

Richie looked up from his phone as someone stepped into the common room talking loudly as they came. He couldn’t help but laugh at the girl’s words and shrugged his shoulders lightly. “On a scale of one to ten? Uhh, probably like a twelve and a half,” he replied playfully. “Nah, you’re fine. Seen plenty of things way more insane around here,” he assured.
Isla smiled, hands dropping to her side as she did so. “ Honestly, that would’ve been a fair judgement. ” She slipped down into the closest chair, hand moving her phone from her back pocket so she wouldn’t sit on it. “ The craziest I’ve ever seen people is here. Its ODD how money can make people go crazy, ” she commented. Never before had she seen such pettiness over minor things until she arrived at Kingswood. What she was saying also was bold she figured, but true nevertheless. Â

Glancing up when she heard the female voice before examining the sharpie closely. “You really think it’s that strong?” She asked, taking a long whiff of the sharpie and shrugging her shoulders casually. “I’ve had better.” Everly said simply. Glancing around the empty hallway before she shoved the sharpie back into the pocket of the her school jacket and blowing out a breath. “Wanna ditch and go smoke up behind the bleachers?” She asked curiously.
“ I-, ” the girl began, not really knowing how to answer. The stutter was a quick one, to buy herself time to think before she answered back. “ Sure, I’ll ditch. ” The logical part of her brain was warning her it was a bad idea, but all she had next period was physics, a subject that came EASILY to her. “ I’m not so sure I’ll smoke though. Trying to take it easy personally. ”

“ Aaand, ” the girl trailed, voice growing louder as she entered the room. She looked as if her mind was going a million miles an hour as she did so before stopping a moment to think. Suddenly, SHORT-CIRCUIT. “ I completely forgot what I was doing. ” She laughed, though it was closer to the sound of the beginnings of a mental breakdown than anything. Raising her hands to her head, she outwardly sighed. “ How insane, on a scale of 1-10, do I look right now ? ”Â

“I never really saw the appeal in getting blackout drunk.” Dustin commented flippantly as he sipped his latte and looked around the cafe at the overhelming amount of hungover students that were just dragging themselves out of bed in hopes of reviving themselves back to life with some overpriced caffeine. “I mean, this…” He motioned to the chaos around him, “Isso not worth it.” He grimaced, letting most of the people within earshot see the disgust on his face before looking back across the table to the other and smirking.
She rolled her eyes at his grimace, though a smile still sat on her face as he spoke. She herself was fighting off a headache and sleep-deprivation with coffee, though her struggles were more stress induced than anything. “ It’s alright. It’s better than being BORED. I just don’t have the time to be BORED. ” Though she was complaining, she would never take back a second she spent on any of her extracurriculars or studies at kingswood. She felt it a blessing to even be at the school.

Everly chuckled lowly beneath her breath as she continued to draw the crude image of the cheerleader and pig on someone’s locker, the lollipop hanging lazily from the side of her mouth as she finished off her masterpiece, ignoring the people walking by her and they ignored Everly; just the way she liked it to be. Not even glancing away from her drawing as she felt a shadow stand over her slightly. “The fuck do you want?” She growled out as she continued to finish off the crude drawing.
“ Just figured I’d come see what the chemical smell was. Turns out it was just sharpie. ” The two of them both knew DAMN WELL what Isla really was trying to do. She was going to attempt to help the girl cover her ass before a teacher showed up and pulled some sort of suspension ultimatum on Everly. Plus, Isla felt for the girl. They both were kind of in the same boat, seeing as they were both new to the school, on academic scholarships, and juniors in Victoria. Â

Lorna looked down at her excuse for a smoothie. She was currently on the search for new recipes that would help preserve her energy and be good companions for her regime  ”Who first decided that beetroot and celery needed to go together in a smoothie? But if helps and tastes drinkable then it will work just fine.”
“ Why in the world would you drink that ? ” Isla couldn’t help but laugh at the sight of Lorna looking absolutely outdone by the blend from SATAN himself. “ I don’t care if that drink would turn my Bs into As, that shit is never going in my body. ” It was highly likely that her input wasn’t helpful, but nevertheless it was entertaining.Â

hey babes!! im abby ur local loser ;)) im 16 and in the edt. i haven’t been involved with rping in literal ages so forgive me if im rusty but plz love me and my bb isla anyways :)) also shouts out to rueb for recommending this group to me and getting me involved again.
under the cut im going to include just a few brief bullet points all about isla and her reason for coming to kingswood!
isla, for starters, was raised by her father alone. when she was very young her parents were together but not anything she could remember. she was only a few months old anyways when the situation unknown to her caused her mother to up and leave, though she doesn’t really hold any resinment to it. her father always showed her love and raised her well, so she never really thought twice about it
growing up, her father had a decent enough job to support her and himself, afford small luxuries, and live in a quaint little home that wasn’t anything fancy. they both ad an understanding that quality of life wasn’t based on material goods, so neither of them ever felt discouraged by their way of living
also, isla tends to be a very clingy person. it kind of stems from not really having too big of a support system and always relying on her dad. she seems to attach to people very strongly when she does, sometimes to the point of over-doing it, but she only means the best in doing so
isla isnt very skilled at ONE thing fully, she’s more of a jack of all trades. shes one hell of a flute player, but nothing of the symphony sort. she’s got an eye for technical theatre and design, but is no broadway award winning woman. words are for sure on her side when she writes, but her flow is nothing more than slightly above average writing. nothing particularly special.
this hasn’t ever really bugged her because it allows her to be involved in various different groups that open her up to new opportunities.Â
also, isla is at kingswoods on a scholarship. she received it because even though she might not be an ace at any of her hobbies, this girl can standardize test to the heavens and beyond. if she puts her mind to it, which most of the time she does, her grades turn out impeccable on test scores. when she submitted her application it was hard to deny the girl had brains. essentially, her 33 ACT score paired with As and Bs granted her access to within kingswood
that being said, she didnt come to kingswood until she had a last minute on a whim decision to apply while in her sophomore year at her normal school. her school had recommended her to it, seeing as she’d taken the ACT early and done so well, and when she received the scholarship all it took was a quick conversation with her dad to make the decision final
honestly though, shes a sweetie with no particular idea for what she wants to achieve in the future, just a hope that everything turns out alright
