Earthborn Shepard never had a first name. ‘Shepard’ was originally a mocking nickname given by the Tenth Street Reds because of his knack with people. He only adopted a first name for the sake of enrolling in the Alliance, and kept the last name as a ‘screw you’ to the Reds.
